Subscribe to the show by clicking below,   Show Notes: The highs and the lows of the Season The Highs The Lows Raider News: Oakland Raiders linebacker Khalil Mack has been named ESPN’s “NFL Live” 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year, the network announced Tuesday. Mack, who was also recognized as the “NFL Live” Midseason Defensive Rookie of the Year, adds this accolade to an already impressive list of honors he has received for his rookie campaign, including being named to the Pro Football Writers of America’s All-Rookie team and NFL.com’s Midseason All-Rookie team. As we talked about on the last show the latest position filled is that of defensive backs coach. Marcus Robertson becomes the first member of the previous coaching staff to be brought back, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. His return to the team very likely means Charles Woodson will be back as well. The 38-year-old future Hall of Famer was deciding whether to return for his 17th NFL season and had said his return was highly dependent upon whether Robertson was here next season. After blocking interview requests earlier in the week, the Atlanta Falcons have released offensive line coach Mike Tice from his contract so he can accept the same position with the Oakland Raiders, according to NFL Media. Right offensive tackle Menelik Watson (foot, ankle) isn’t at practice once again. Therefore, it’s likely that Khalif Barnes is going to start against the 49ers, with Gabe Jackson regaining his job at left guard. Tight end Brian Leonhardt (concussion) isn’t on the practice field again, as expected. It seems like a long-shot for Leonhardt to recover in time from his second concussion in two games to play against the 49ers. Subscribe to the show by clicking below,   Show Notes: Vs Dolphins recap Raider News: From Day 1 in this three-year rebuild, Raiders owner Mark Davis made clear that general manager Reggie McKenzie was “my guy” and that coach Dennis Allen was “Reggie’s guy.” Davis got more and more frustrated with Allen over two 4-12 seasons but McKenzie convinced Davis to give Allen another chance this year with a more talented cast of players. That chance ended Monday night, as Davis told McKenzie to fire his guy. The Raiders name Tony Sparano the interim coach, after firing Dennis Allen Monday night. “Tony Sparano has a strong presence in this organization,” Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said in a statement. “His experience and leadership qualities will serve the team well in helping reach the goal of everyone here, which is to win football games.”Sparano, the team’s offensive line coach and assistant head coach, was the only assistant that owner Mark Davis gave a two-year contract to last offseason. The Raiders placed receiver Rod Streater, who had foot surgery earlier this week, on the Injured Reserve -Designated to Return list. It works for kindergarten classes so why not give it a try. As part of the sweeping changes that interim coach Tony Sparano has brought to the Raiders, the team shifted where everyone dresses in the locker room. Monday was Sparano’s first practice with his team, since Dennis Allen was fired last Tuesday during the bye week. Almost seven weeks after he left a preseason game with a concussion, Raiders linebacker Nick Roach had his season come to an end.
