PEP 76: My Father's Story: Regaining Perspective & Remaining Grateful
Growing up, my father was my best friend. We did everything together. He coached all of my sport's teams, I delivered newspapers with him in the morning, and I even skipped high school prom to stay home with him and watch a movie. About 3 years ago, my father suffered his third stroke; this one, a brain stem stroke, leaving him fully paralyzed. In addition to being fully paralyzed, he requires a feeding tube to be fed and is unable to talk. While many people would become depressed in a similar situation, my father flipped the script. My father began to appreciate the little things in life that most of us take for granted, providing an model example of fatherhood and husbandry. In this episode, I share my father's story in hopes that we can all become more grateful for the little things in life. At the end of the day, the little things are actually the big things.
