After a busy month, the podcast returns as we talk with Spellman Principal Dan O'Keefe as he ran the school's track for 100 miles in order to raise money for the school's activities and sports teams.  Listen as he explains how he came up with the idea and what it takes to prepare and last through such a marathon. October opens with a look at our first annual ALS Bucket Challenge.  We add two new members to the podcast in the form of Class of 2016 students Patrick and Serafina.  They talk about being members of the track team and S.T.A.R.S. Next, we look at what's happening this week in the school. Finally, we hear the homily of Father Connally who spoke at the dedication of the Pius X Chapel in honor of Mercedes and Rafael Colado. The entire Spellman community is proud to have unveiled the dedication of the St. Pius X Student Chapel to the memory of Mercedes and Rafael Collado on October 2nd, 2014.   Mercedes and Rafael Collado were married on New Year’s Eve, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church (150th Street and Westchester Avenue) in the Bronx.  Rafael was an Engineer and Physicist who worked on projects for NASA.  Mercedes was a devoted Homemaker dedicated to her family.  The value of a good education and a strong work ethic were emphasized to their children.  Recognizing that morality is a critical part of a complete education, all four brothers were enrolled at Cardinal Spellman High School, forming a dynasty represented in two decades—Rafael ‘72, Raul ‘75, Rodolfo ‘82, and Rolando ‘83.     We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the dedication and the entire Collado family for their unending support of Cardinal Spellman High School.  This is a podcast for the Spellman community and if you have any ideas you'd like to share to make it better, contact jdrew@cardinalspellman.org.

This weekend was our annual homecoming football game.  Alumni from years past gathered to play an exhibition game and to watch Spellman's current Varsity team take on Nazareth. In our second episode of the Pilots Podcast, John Drew (class of 86) interview Niki Francois, director of this year's production of THE WIZ by the Cardinal's Players.  Plus, we look back at last year's production of Seusical with an interview with one of the actors by two students from John's media class.

In our first episode, we talk with newly installed student body president, Jamie Crowther.  He talks about his inspirations and his hopes for the future as he prepares for his presidency, his last year at Spellman, and making the right choices for college.  Plus, we feature a podcast within a podcast.  Students in our media class produced podcasts as an assignment and we share this one featuring James and Luis.  The two interview some of the members of the stage crew responsible for the extrodinary sets for the musical, Suessical.
