Thank you for being here, wherever you are, we consider you to be here, because you’re listening to The Paul Leslie Hour. All right, so we have an interview from our radio archives with an international legend. There was a bit of a thing here, a catch kind of. Enrico Macias is a French musical legend of Algerian Jewish descent. A singer, songwriter and recording artist, your Paul Edward Leslie first heard his music on an international flight. He knew that he wanted to try and interview this great international star. So he goes through the appropriate contacts and soon enough Enrico Macias is calling in. Mr. Macias says to Paul, let’s do the interview in French. The catch we were talking about? Paul doesn’t speak French. Paul and Enrico eventually agreed, let’s try and do the interview you are about to hear in English. There is a strong language barrier. However, we think it’s still worth listening. You know we’ve got lots of content like this on YouTube. An Unbelievable variety of interviews is available on Paul Leslie’s YouTube channel. Won’t you subscribe? It’s fast and free to do so. #883 - Maya Beiser
#883 - Maya Beiser The Maya Beiser Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour. Are you here? It’s not because I’m being nosy that I ask, “Are you here?,” but rather its about manners. #882 - Sam Arlen
#882 - Sam Arlen The Sam Arlen Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour. Are you here? Everyone who is here, continue to be…. here. Listening to The Paul Leslie Hour. Stay right here! If you’re wondering what I’ve got for you, have no fear my friends. I’m going to tell you. This interview with Sam Arlen was recorded for the radio back in 2005. Sam Arlen is a saxophonist and the son of the late American composer Harold Arlen. Our featured guest Sam Arlen joined Paul to talk about the legacy of his father’s songs like "Over the Rainbow" “Stormy Weather” and “Paper Moon.” My goodness Harold Arlen composed some of the greatest songs ever. Side note: This was a somewhat short phoner, also known as a telephone interview, and one of Paul’s early interviews. You may notice he seemed a bit green and it’s got that telephone sound. It’s still a fascinating look at Harold Arlen. 2005 was the centennial…100 years since the great composer’s birth. Harold Arlen passed away in 1986, but tunes like “One for My Baby, and One More for the Road,” and “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive” will be around forever. If you can help us keep The Paul Leslie Hour going, you can continue listening to this show. It helps a lot, but we also rely on regular donations. Simply go here, and we thank you. Okay ladies and gentlemen, let’s hear that interview with Sam Arlen. Right here. Right now.

#879 - Steve Kimock
#879 - Steve Kimock The Steve Kimcock Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour. Are you here? Sure, you’re here….listening to The Paul Leslie Hour. Paul Leslie, hmmm kind of a blue collar Larry King, huh? As a lot of you know, The Paul Leslie Hour, has quite an extensive archive of radio interviews. Some of them are what they call phoners. That is, telephone interviews. This is an interview today with guitar virtuoso Steve Kimock. He’s been heavily compared to Jerry Garcia, but he really is his own deal. Your host Paul Edward Leslie had the chance to see him in concert. It blew his mind. In this very short, casual phone interview, guitar legend Steve Kimock talks about his influences and some of the great artists he’s worked with from Bernie Worrell to Bruce Hornsby. This interview has been digitally remastered for your listening enjoyment. So I think it’s important to let you know that we do take contributions to keep the show going. You could say from an instinctual standpoint, I need to. You got me? This interview is from the radio archives and it goes back quite a bit. So just imagine a much younger Paul Edward Leslie with a small sound recorder backstage in Athens, Georgia. He was sitting down with the percussionist and drummer Leon Mobley. He was playing with Ben Harper. It was a huge, sold-out concert of Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. We think this was probably 2006. As you’re about to hear this is quite a listening artifact. Leon Mobley is an excellent speaker, full of passion and interesting too. He’s made some great albums on his own and collaborations. This interview in and of itself is just the thing to get you going down a Leon Mobley journey. Oh, oh, oh! We’d love it if you liked The Paul Leslie Hour on Facebook.
