Another podcast for ye. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This episode on "Super 8" has nothing to do with Thanksgiving or cheap motels. Well, I suppose you could draw some correlation to cheap motels. This film is made to look like it has a 70's vibe, and a lot of motels were built in the 70's and 80's or whatever and haven't updated much so they still kinda carry that general aesthetic. Speaking of aesthetics, there are few aesthetics that just make me generally uncomfortable as Alf. Frickin creeps me out. I can't put a finger on it, but Alf is just an unseemly looking character. Like a rotten roll of shag carpet in your grandma's basement that nobody wants to touch because it was ripped up in like 1978 and it's been there for too long and it's kind of a fixture of the place and an eyesore....

Little pun for the WWII nerds out there. If you know, you know. Exciting episode for a few reasons. 1. We're back (ish) 2. I finally fixed the dang Philmosophical bumper so it's not so hard on the ears 3. we drop some thoughts on the Rings of Power (current event commentary sellouts? Not so fast.) 4. we review a fantastic yet sobering movie about the true story of Desmond Doss: "Hacksaw Ridge." Also, Halloween release day. I don't care. Halloween is for kids, adults who refuse to grow up, and emos. There, I said it. The truth hurts. Be a Christmas enjoyer like a normal person. But not too early. You know who you are.

Deal with it, John. We watched Thor 4 and kinda liked it. That aside, it's not as if we have a gap in episodes because a certain editor had a brain fart and completely forgot to try and upload the episode or anything for an entire week. That'd be crazy. Almost as crazy as the fact Thor: Love and Thunder isn't trash.

The internet drives people to do crazy things. Or, rather, the desire for real human connection drives people to do crazy things. Like take an unannounced break from your podcast for several weeks, or think everyone around you is an animal and accidentally uncover several conspiracy theories in the process. Indoctrination and propaganda are some serious business. You wouldn't expect heavy subject matter and comedy to mix, but yet somehow in Taika Waititi's "Jojo Rabbit" they blend in a rather thought-provoking way. See, I can write more serious descriptions.

I had to go back and re-listen to this episode a bunch because I didn't want the title and the joke in the bit to be conflicting. That's just the level of effort I put into this pod for the 2 of you. There. That's the title. I hope you're happy Nathan. Actually, overall, I was happy to see Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan again, not gonna lie. My question is how on earth or Tatooine for that matter he cooks that giant fish meat or whatever that stuff is that's definitely not rubber, so shut up, to where it's edible. Is it an animal? A fish? Sand seal a la Breath of the Wild? 0/10, unanswered meat questions.

Nathan's birthday has come and gone as of the uploading of this video, so he gets to talk about video games and one of his favorite things at that. Axiom Verge. Which brings up a lot of questions, like are we truly conscious people popping from reality to reality or are we just pixelated brains being stimulated in a digital jar? No joke, Reilly and I both said that absentmindedly and half-awake said it out loud at the same time while lifting weights early in the morning in college, minus the pixelated part but the original quote whatever it is if you follow me.

It's our eleventy-first episode! We don't remember half as many bits as we would like, and like less than half of them half as much as they deserve. Anyway, we talk not about Lord of the Rings, but "Megamind" by Dreamworks.

The Benedict that produces the eggs is probably from the same farm where chocolate cows produce the chocolate milk. The Cumberbatch. What doesn't involve farms whatsoever (or eggs really) is the Disney Plus series "The Mysterious Benedict Society."

We bucked the Podcast Formula (rated E for everyone) by accident so Future James (Rated M) (TM) had to backtrack and do a little bit of cleanup. Speaking of a lot of cleanup and attempted government coverup, we review Brad Bird's animated feature "The Iron Giant" in this week's episode.
