The first guest on today’s podcast is Joseph Bartozzi. He is the CEO/President of the NSSF, the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry. He talks about how their organization reached out to the Department of Homeland security on behalf of their members at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. They helped to make sure their members were able to remain open, as a lot of them are defense contractors. They also discuss how COVID has affected the hunting season, the boon in firearm sales, and life in a post COVID-19 world. Finally, they discuss the first shot program and the plus one program by the NSSF. Afterwards, our panelists talk about all of the help the NSSF has offered its members. They also talk about turkey hunting season. This week we gather around the campfire with Mark Zona. He talks about how he got into bass fishing. After him and his friend won a fishing contest in Chicago as kids, he hung up his little league glove, and took up fishing. After being in thousands of fishing contests, ESPN came knocking about doing The Bassmasters. He talks about how coronavirus will change next seasons Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show. Living in Michigan, the epicenter for the boating ban, Mark talk about how a non-political guy like him had to become more politically active. He reminds ALL of us, to stand up, for what we stand for. He was ignorantly naive most of his life, after this pandemic, he’s not anymore. The guys finish off this week’s podcast talking about how The Bassmaster’s just squeaked in before the shutdown, how difficult professional bass fishing is, and how Mark Zona become passionate after something was taken from him. As D-Breau puts it, finally the outdoors IS becoming a political platform. It’s not a red or blue thing. It’s an outdoors thing!
