As an educator for 32 years I had my share of organizing events and parties; because I was good at it I became the go-to person for events. After retiring, semi-retiring, It was suggested to take my logistical, organizational and implementory skills to the professional level. I became a Certified Wedding & Event Planner via Lovegivity and Dream Event Services was born. That was years ago. On the personal side I'm a different kinda gal love everything sports -indoor or out but I have the same passion for the Theatre. I am a foodie by nature. In the summer you can find me walking near water. I just love the sound water makes as it ebbs and flows....it's so peaceful. That is my go to place for calm, especially when the weather is stormy. I have a cat, Starlight who thinks she is a dog even though she has never been around them. This week I had the opportunity to chat with Haley Fannin and Hannah Stuckey, sisters and owners of The Ohio Flower Girls, all about owning a flower farm and providing wedding florals.   Learn more about our guest: We are a small farmer-florist shop run by two sisters, Hannah and Haley. We grow dozens of varieties of flowers seasonally on our farm in Bucyrus, Ohio. Being both farmer and florist, we offer unique opportunities for our clients. We pride ourselves in being able to offer some of the freshest flowers around as well as involving our clients in the journey of their flowers even before the harvest. We offer a few very simple services centered around the use of flowers currently in season on the farm. This means that we’re often a best fit with clients who appreciate the benefits of working with a local farm and also have the flexibility for the seasonal aspects of the farm and availability of flowers. Our fresh flowers are available from May to October and our dried flowers from August to February. They can be purchased pre-arranged by us or as loose stems in bulk for either DIY arrangements or for use by a floral designer of your choice. Arrangements can be simply chosen à la carte in several basic arrangement forms like bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, and boutonnières. For the flowers themselves, we offer either a basic level of farmer’s choice, or in an upgraded, Diamond Package. With farmer’s choice, we carefully select a range of flowers currently in bloom. With Diamond package, the bride has the opportunity to visit our farm several days before their wedding to walk the field and choose their colors based on what’s in bloom at the time. In the end, we enjoy getting to provide the experience for brides of working with a local flower farm and perhaps even providing a little deeper meaning to their flowers. This week we get to chat with one of most favorite new friends, Lauren Simon, aka The CharcuteQueen, is a Columbus Native working the classic 9-5 for a local non profit before COVID. Due to the pandemic, she lost her job and with that, a big part of her identity. For four months she applied for over 100 jobs, never even scoring an interview. One day in August 2020, she took a charcuterie board to a friends brunch and by accident, The CharcuteQueen was born. Since September 28th, this "Covid Comeup" has sold over 800 boards,boxes and cups to hundreds of customers across Columbus. She also offers "Charcuterie 101" classes!
