NYGBC: This Episode Does not Consent to Contract: Tax Protesters and Sovereign Citizens
This Week! We take a look at a group responsible for hours upon hours of CourtTV programming if nothing else of value, Sovereign Citizens, as well as their progenitors, the tax protester movement. These groups emerge from a common core of anger at taxes and hatred of government. If you’ve heard of sovereign citizens its probably from sarcastic “gold fringe on the flag” jokes or mentions of admiralty law, but we hope that with this episode we can teach you a little more about one of the most dangerous ideologies of the right wing, in which the law is all made up and the underlying beliefs don’t really matter. The tax protest movement has its roots in, well, taxes, with the earliest people to argue against the income tax being the contemporaries who were around at the time it was enacted. As their many failures added up, eventually tax protesters went to wilder and wilder ends in their attempt to avoid paying taxes, sometimes to ends so extreme that they ended up creating an entirely new conspiracy theory, sovereign citizenry, in hopes of holding on to those few extra dollars. NYGBC: American Marxism Chapter 4 Part 1
This Week! We break down the first half of chapter 4 of Mark Levin’s book American Marxism, titled “Racism, Genderism, and Marxism. In this chapter, other than continuing his trend of block quoting people more intelligent and well thought than him and following it by screaming “communism” into the void. In this chapter he attempts, ad fails, to lead the reader through Critical Theory, a philosophical mode of thought developed by thinkers in the “Frankfurt School” or “Franklin School” if you’re Levin, to Critical Race Theory, which does not stem directly from Critical Theory as he suggests, and of course, to every other remotely left wing area of discourse that doesn’t slobber at the thought of America’s greatness. This week Mark finally gets to talking about that evil communist menace, “CRT” otherwise known as everything, everywhere all at once. In Mark, and the rest of the right’s conception, CRT is both everything and nothing, present in all schools, colleges, government agencies and antifa super-soldier training camps. Levin also, of course falsely claims that Critical race theory seeks a violent Marxist revolution, fails to address any of the points made by CRT scholars, and resorts to petty name-calling. In other words, he’s at the top of his game. NYGBC: A Brief History of Hate Part 1
This week! We begin our deep dive into the fetid waters of the fringe center of the republican party with the first episode proper of our “Lunatic Fringe” series. The thesis of this series which will take the coming months if not the majority of the year, is that there is little if any true daylight between the “far right” as we would term them. Part of getting to this point was a concerted strategy by leaders of the right to use hate as a weapon. In their callous disregard they selfishly and wantonly employed the politics of hate, not caring necessarily what the particular target of their followers was, it was enough for them that they hated in the correct direction, but using the appeal to hatred to inspire a mass of voters in a way that policy platforms and inspirational speech never could. It also brought into their fold a new coalition of hate, of types that a more respectable right wing in the pas might have pretended to abhor, but who now was so crucial they now have to be directly appealed to.   So to start we begin with a brief history of American hate, starting with the Ku Klux Klan in its several incarnations, the American Nazi movement, White supremacist media mogul Willis Carto, Pioneer Publisher of holocaust denial, William Regnery II and America's most prominent White Supremacist Tucker Carlson. By no means are these people inclusive of every hatemonger from the time period, nor do their stories cover the entirety of the spectrum that is American hate. For every open racist screaming at a young girl going to school accompanied by U.S. Marshalls, there are a dozen or more at home silently approving of the intent, if not the method. We are excited for this new project we are undertaking here on the show, and its part of our personal commitment to always improving and trying to make a better show that provides more for all of our listeners. NYGBC: American Marxism Chapter 3 Part 2
This week we finally return to our review of American Marxism by Mark Levin, a man we can only assume is still angry he was never given a pony to kill. In this second half of chapter three we learn mostly how staggeringly and completely lazy Levin was in writing this book. In all absolute honesty, and with complete disclosure that I do not have the time to sit and count words, Levin appears to have filled this chapter (and probably the book) with more words that come from block quotes written by the people he hates than his own original writing. Sincerely, this book is a snarky quote-tweet of a 2000 word deeply researched and detailed article, in other words, the same thing as Levin’s Radio and TV shows. Because as we all know, when you don’t have the facts, scream that your enemies are commies. We also saw Levin engage in some of the most blatant bullshitting of the book thus far (while we’re sure there is plenty more to come) in deliberately attempting to deceive his audience into believing that somewhat hacky scholarly work about “Millenialists” actually applies to “Millenials.” I can assure you the two terms have almost nothing to do with one another. NYGBC: Ron Paul
This Week we finally, at long last, without delay, and with all expedience, begin our long awaited, but much delayed episode on Ron Paul, and the beginning of our deep dive into the weird, wild, and wacky world of the far right fringe. While their position on the extreme right of any objective political spectrum may obscure it, these people have truly become the core of the modern conservative movement. From the sovereign citizen movement to violent extremist militias and even the relatively mundane ordinary wackadoo conspiracy theorist, Ron Paul is the favorite politician of everyone with a gun, a poor understanding of the constitution, and a confederate flag. We hope this episode reminds you that Ron Paul is not your friend. With this episode we are beginning our dive into the world of the extreme right, a world where policy is driven by a drive towards the ever more extreme. In this world appeals to white supremacy is not a bridge too far, it is a means of building a coalition. Over the coming weeks and months we will be looking at the growth of the fringe, from the tax protester movement, the rabid-anticommunism of the middle 21st century right, and eventually the sovereign citizens, militia's and variety of hate groups and conspiracists who today carry forward the mission, and have truly taken control of the American Right. NYGBC: Not the Episode Gotham Wants, But the Episode Gotham Needs
This Week!   Benedict managed to find a way to ruin everything once again. Due to a scheduling issue (Benedict's Fault) we had to do an emergency record on the day last week's episode was released which means we were unable to stick to our planned schedule of recording the next episode of American Marxism for this week. Despite that, we managed to put together what I think is a fun episode. We listened to a number of clips this week, including from The John Birch Society, Lee Greenwood being interviewed by RSBN at CPAC, and of course we did some catch-up with multiple Mark Levin clips to see what our boy is up to right now.   We'll be back to normal next week we hope.   Thanks as always for listening and we hope you enjoy the show!   Music: "Say You Will" by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

NYGBC: American Marxism Chapter 3 Part 1

And then we read some Mark Levin or something, who knows.   Thanks as always for listening, enjoy the show!   Music: "Say You Will" by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

NYGBC: American Marxism by Mark Levin Chapter 1
This week!   We finally begin what might be the best book we've read (by our incredibly low standards) in quite a while. Cracking the cover on this beauty was like the first sip of an ice cold coke fresh from the fridge, the first slice of hot pizza, cigarettes after sex, feeding all of the addictions we've been in withdrawal for at once. In American Marxism we've finally found the kind of abject crazy mixed with just enough lazy writing that we've been looking for for oh so long, and we are excited to take you along for the ride!   Thanks as always for listening and enjoy the show!   Music: "Say You Will" by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

NYGBC: Barry Goldwater and L. Brent Bozell Jr.
This Week!   We take a look at two incredibly important figures in the history of conservative thought, Barry Goldwater, and Catholic Fascist L. Brent Bozell Jr. Together, one of these two wrote the central guiding tome of Conservative thought, and the other said it was ok tpo put his name on it, and soon you can hear us read it as our new patron only book review of The Conscience of a Conservative.   Thanks as always for listening and enjoy the show!   Music: "Say You Will" by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

NYGBC: Mark Levin, The Most Dangerous Man in Radio
This Week!   We begin our next book review of Mark Levin's "American Marxism" a book so thoroughly researched and comprehensive that the first few hundred thousand copies went out with allegations that a mysterious "Franklin School" was responsible for Herbert Marcuse and all of that "Cultural Marxism" they're slipping in in-between the CRT. Levin may be one of the angriest, and certainly the scariest author we've ever read, and we're excited to dig into the 300-page hot steamer Amazon delivered to our doorsteps. NYGBC: Christine O’Donnell
This Week! We are all not Witches! Because of Kevin's busy schedule we took the time to take a look at a political figure who probably otherwise would only ever be remembered as a one-liner from a halfway decent episode of SNL, Christine O'Donnell, a perrennial Senate Candidate in Delaware best known for losing to Joe Biden in 2008 and not being a witch. NYGBC: Episode 100! W Cleon Skousen with X From Utah Outcasts
This Week! We reach an incredible, but ultimately we recognize unimportant milestone of 100 Episodes!!! Thanks to all the listeners and patrons who have stuck with us through all the inane ramblings of conspiracists and zealots on our little quest.   This week we took a look at a man who might be the single most important figure in right wing thought until 2015, W. Cleon Skousen, the man who gave John Birch conspiracism a new twist for a new era, and inspired some of the most virulent morons of our time.   We were joined this week by X from the Utah Outcasts. NYGBC: Lauren Boebert
This Week!   We jump back into our dumbest member of congress rundown to take a look at someone who is best epitomized by the phrase "Platonic Runner Up" Lauren Opal Boebert, representative of Colorado's Third Congressional District. Her illustrious business career involves going from giving people food poisoning to dozens as a manager at McDonalds, to giving food poisoning to dozens of people as the owner of her very own restaurant and then congress.
