Denise Schamens is my Aunt. Denise decided to start a non-profit Company a little over a decade ago when she saw a gap in local schools ability to help school children relate to other students on the autism spectrum. Being the parent of a child on the spectrum she teamed up with another mom and they started the non-profit Good Friend Inc. Good Friend has been to over 100 schools, taught acceptance to over 45,000 students and has plans to grow even larger. In the episode she provides advice on networking not only for non-profits but advice that can be applicable to anyone with a small business looking to grow. We talk about how networking is important to structuring a strong executive board and about professional mentoring. We discuss the transition from college to the working world and the role networking can play. We also discuss marketing and creating niche business' with social media.
