An Incredible Journey with Colette Stevenson
I am so honored to share this interview with Colette where we talk about love and relationships, her journey to Japan and the struggle to move back home with her husband and son. She is amazing and has such a positive energy in the face of many adversities.Colette Stevenson has worked in various roles within education and childcare since 1992. In 2002, Colette moved to Japan to teach English. Five years later, she was managing 12 schools and providing training and support to hundreds of teachers from around the globe.Colette's child-centred philosophies, and drive to "let kids be kids," led her to work as a freelance educator teaching small groups of private students. She soon began providing consultancy services, regularly delivering workshops and training for early-years educators across Japan.Over the years, multiple publications interviewed Colette about her philosophies as an educator. And, as part of a nationwide training initiative, Colette's lessons were filmed to demonstrate outstanding practice. In 2010, Colette founded Bee Kids, an independent ESL school for children aged 1-8. The curriculum was fluid and designed to allow teachers to follow the child. Lessons were play-based and parents were encouraged to participate at the end of each class.Bee Kids evolved into multiple programs, including a childcare service, and a parent support program. But, it is Colette's passion for developing engaging resources that drives her most recent work. Colette supports ESL school owners by offering beautifully designed games, activities, and images that are tested and loved by children before ever being put on the market. She also offers a Mascot Design service, where schools can have their very own cute "kawaii" character as part of their branding.Colette is married to Barry. They have one son and currently live in Liverpool, United Kingdom. To connect with Colette, you can reach her at colette@12cmedia.comand on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/colettestevenson/
