The War and Treaty
“I want people to feel like we care,” Michael says. “When you think about artists, you don’t think about that.” He pauses and grins broadly. “But that’s the way I want the world to feel about The War and Treaty.”

Larry Keel At Front Porch Fest
"For Keel the musical mission is always clear: to let natural ability, finely-honed skill, honest emotion and fearlessness connect the playing and singing to audiences, to entertain and to thoroughly enjoy the experience of creating and sharing in music."

Country duo Blue Cactus
“Modern cosmic country duo Blue Cactus supplements their twang with soaring, space-rock-inspired guitars, while rich harmonies steeped in twang keep their tunes rooted on solid honky tonk ground. Based out of Chapel Hill, NC, Blue Cactus is led by long-time collaborators Steph Stewart and Mario Arnez, who create songs that range from gritty honky tonk to heartbreaking balladry. Their 2017 self-titled debut album has given life to the future of country music and received praise from critics across the nation... Read More Read More

Rebekah Todd Interview During Shakori Hills Festival
Rebekah Todd and her husband Logan Tabor getting “super artsy” and deep with us during this interview, which is exactly what I’m hoping for in each of these interviews. She brings so much power and energy to her song writing and playing and Logan’s skill on the drums reinforces all of it. Check out her upcoming shows and get artsy with her in the near future. www.facebook.com/Rebekah-Todd-Events Growing up in the small town of Benson, North Carolina, Rebekah Todd has... I spoke with him during Merlefest 2019 to get insight in to his musical history, growing up in rural NC and yes, a little bit about those other Avetts. From his Facebook page: Jim Avett of Concord, North Carolina, is the son of a Methodist minister... Read More Read More

Bonus video footage on YouTube! From Brad Davis. I was wandering through the artist camping area at Rooster Walk, on my way to an interview, when I stumbled on a group of guys picking some tunes. I recognized a few of the faces and couldn’t put it all together at that moment but it was Fireside Collective warming up for their approaching set. Their raw musical energy is amazing whether its the middle of the woods or on the main stage... Read More Read More

The Tan and Sober Gentlemen
The band aims to explore the Celtic roots of North Carolinian music, and to play it with a fire and intensity they feel is lacking in much of today's folk music. The result is Scotch-Irish hillbilly insanity they dub "Celtic punk-grass." As far as folk music goes, they're about the best drinking and dancing band you'll find.
