December 21, 2020 | Last Call of the Year!
This is our last call of 2020! We talk about our biggest wins and losses of the year, and not to toot our participants' horns, but it was super inspiring to hear so many great stories of triumph over hardships. From being laid off and losing loved ones to successful first-year freelance and being hired by dream employers.  If you'd like to be added to the form Liam talks about in the beginning, it is available here: https://www.five-31.com/getagig Whatever holiday you're celebrating, we wish you the best and thank you so much for your support this year! We'll see you on January 11, 2021! Happy New Year!

The soft skills of being a freelancer or running a business that you can't just learn through a tutorial. Monday Meeting: December 07, 2020 | Responsibilities as a Vendor/Artist (Host: Liam Clisham)
This week we have a reasonably lengthy call about the responsibilities we have as vendors/artists. Not overpromising and under-delivering. What does a day of work mean to people? Are you to be at your desk the whole day waiting for the client at all hours? Should you be able to work as you would in any situation? How are we expected to just turn on the creativity at any moment? Of course, general banter and tomfoolery as well. If you'd like to join in or learn more, head over to https://www.mondaymeeting.org

Monday Meeting: November 16th, 2020 | Open Discussion: Estimates, Critiques, and more! (Host: Mark Cernosia)
This week, Mark hosts an open discussion on the call. We talk about sending out estimates to clients and a variety of ways to do it. Afterward, we ask, "why doesn't critique happen in the industry?" Why do people get so offended by it? As an art form, why don't we have critics like other mediums? If you'd like to participate or learn more, head over to mondaymeeting.org!

Monday Meeting: November 9th, 2020 | Crypto Art: What that f*ck is it all about? (Host: Mark Cernosia)
This week Mark tried to figure out, "what the f*ck is Crypto Art?".  There are a ton of new platforms selling crypto art selling works from big names from the digital art world.  And it seems like art collectors are starting to take notice.  Last week Beeple sold 3 pieces for $66,666 USD each.  Although people are starting to look into Crypto Art, it is still the Wild West.  Buyer beware. Monday Meeting: October 12, 2020 | Stop the echo chamber! (Hosts: Mark Cernosia and Liam Clisham)
This week, we discuss the echo chamber of the industry. How can we get more artists, lesser-known artists on projects or in front of people? Why do we always hear from the same people? The industry in the last 6-12 months has really taken steps to do better, but what else can we be doing? To join in or find out more, head over to https://www.mondaymeeting.org

Monday Meeting: October 5, 2020 | I got fired. Now what? (Hosts: Mark Cernosia and Liam Clisham)
This week Mark and Liam host the call as we field a question from Lukasz Parson about being let go from FT employment and transitioning to freelance. Participants chime in on what to talk to your significant other about, being honest, realizing it's going to be a roller coaster with wins and failures and a bunch of other really good stuff. George also takes a vote on a meme again...and...it goes as you'd expect.  If you'd like to join in or learn more, head on over to https://www.mondaymeeting.org

Monday Meeting: September 28, 2020 | Does software dictate your career path? (Hosts: Mark Cernosia, Julie Craft and Liam Clisham)
This week we have a conversation about how software may dictate your career path a bit. It's a bit 3D heavy, but we also talk about how for 2D motion designers, they really only have to worry about AE most of the time. We also introduced a new and quite random segment at the end of the call. As always, you can join in or learn more at https://www.mondaymeeting.org.

Monday Meeting: September 21, 2020 | A title or something...idk I'm not a book (Hosts: Mark Cernosia and Liam Clisham)
Another Monday, another meeting! Except today is Friday if you're listening to this the day it got posted. We had a fairly general discussion about lots of things. Going around, calling on people. Mark and I (Liam) didn't take notes. We're doing this season pretty guerrilla-style, changing the rules as we go, and all that. Maybe some Bed, Bath, and Beyond was thrown in. I'm not sure if we have enough time. As always you can find us everywhere on social through Monday Meeting or learn more and join in at MondayMeeting.org

Looking for hosts for next season!
Hey everyone! Monday Meeting (https://www.mondaymeeting.org) is getting ready for our 4th season starting up after Labor Day and looking to add additional hosts. You'd be hosting around once per month, either in open discussions, topical, with a guest of your choosing, project breakdown, or any other ideas you may have. We took steps towards more diversification at the beginning of last season, but would like to go even further with the upcoming season. POC/LGTQ+/etc. but also representation across disciplines, skill levels, and everything in between. If you or someone you know are interested in hosting or learning more, please reach out to info@mondaymeeting.org. And one last thing: Thanks everyone who has been a participant or listener the last couple of years. It has turned into more than we could have ever imagined and it's through your interactions with us through these calls or the emails we get that make doing these calls super rewarding.
