#13 Parenting, Vulnerability, and Balance feat. Patchouli Brinkman
Patchouli Brinkman is one of my most cherished friends. One of the kindest, most loving, gregarious, and hard working people I have ever met.
At the age of 2 she moved to the mighty Australia as her parents pursued careers over there, until returning back to New Zealand at the age of 6. After an upbringing of many rough times sprinkled with beautiful times, she moved out of home at 17, as her brother went through some traumatic experiences.
She excelled at football, and ended up boarding with a family in Auckland, and playing for a Women’s team in North Auckland. The sport kept her grounded, driven, and focused, but eventually she found her self wondering just what in the world she was going to do with the rest of her life, and who she even was.
She met her husband Paul, and together they have created these 4 beautiful, passionate, and CRAZY children, to whom they are TOTAL parent goals to me and my wife. Life got really tough for a while, when with the pregnancy of her 4th child, Austin, she developed gestational diabetes.
Patchouli is a real visionary, and see-er of silver linings, and this experience actually ended up leading into her passion with nutrition, and coaching others. If there was one person I know who genuinely cares about the betterment of people, it would be Patchouli. In establishing her businesses over the years, I have seen her strength, knowledge, compassion, and nurturing nature persist, and I believe Patchouli will create some incredible things in her lifetime.
