006 - The Model Minorities - Michael Tow (Lucky Grandma)
We sit down with 4th generation Chinese-American, Actor, Producer, Director and social-justice warrior, Michael Tow.  Due to the Pandemic and that we are on different coasts, we leveraged the power of the internet for this podcast.  It was interesting to learn that he grew-up in Boston, MA, the oldest of 3.  He always loved acting from a very young age and  in his previous life he was a Financial Planner.  But that acting bug was too strong and never left his bones.  He saw an opportunity and took that leap of faith!  He is a natural and very talented working actor.  We talk about his journey and his new movie "Lucky Grandma", staring,  Tsai Chin a Chinese–English actress, singer, director, teacher and author best known in America for her role as Auntie Lindo in the film The Joy Luck Club. Her career spans more than six decades and three continents .  The Model Minorities Team feel very Lucky ourselves to have had this opportunity to learn about the movie and of course do a deep dive into Michael's life, although I think we just scratched the surface.  Can't wait to see all of his upcoming projects and excited for the future of the Asian-American stories to come.

005 - The Model Minorities - DJ Havik
DJ Havik is as real as it gets.  He is an OG Cerritos head, I personally do not know another DJ more in love with his craft than DJ Havik.  I first met him in high school and from day one he was all about the turntables.  Two Technique 1200's, a mixer (Newmark) and a mic.  We dive into the love of music and where he stands on DJing today.  We talk about our house party days when he was affiliated with Moden Musique, his Prestige Sounds days and do a deep dive into the scene and how he hooked up with The World Famous Beat Junkies.  Back in the Day when we were young but we aren't kids anymore...and still I sit and wish I was a kid again.  Thanks homie, can't wait to have you back!

002 - The Model Minorities - Gary Kubo
Gary, is extremely positive and knowledgeable. What an impressive dude.  As a child growing up in Rosemead, CA he first started skating at 12 years old.  After being sponsored by Vision Street Wear, he went on to street racing.  The street racing scene in Southern California was exploding.  All the illegal street racing for pink slips and high dollars were happening in the more industrial areas of Ontario, City of Industry and Long Beach.   He was in the thick of it.  Then he went Pro!!!  We have a turbocharged conversation about Battle of the Imports and it is pure Nitro!  He is an entrepreneur and a bodybuilder.  Thank you again to the Kubos!!!

We sit down with Rick Tonthat.  He's Vietnamese-American.
