The last 2 years have been challenging for a lot of people, myself included.   I wanted to share with you simple ways to calm the mind and be more aware of our thoughts because we can't control what goes on around us, but we can control how we respond.   And that's where the power lies. If we can build trust within ourselves, within our bodies, we can take back control of our lives.   I have in place some simple practices that instantly bring me back into the present moment.   Often when we are stressed, we are thinking about the future (and, more often than not, the worst-case scenario.) You can't change what has happened. But you can decide how you want to move forward.   We are now 12 weeks away from the end of the year. It sounds long... but it's going to go by in a blink of an eye.   It's usually this time of year where people start to get disheartened. Maybe we haven't achieved what we wanted to this year, and another year has gone by.   But remember, at any given moment, you can decide to change your life.   You don't have to wait until January 1st to set new goals or become the person you want to become; you get to decide right now if you're not happy with something in your life to change it.   Throughout today's episode, I give you some ideas, strategies, steps and mindset that you can take to end the year strong and continue into 2022 as the best version of yourself. Ep133 How do I cope when everything in my life feels out of my control?
How do we cope when everything feels outside of our control? An important topic we wanted to bring up today. Human beings are wired for certainty. It is a fundamental human need. We like to feel safe and secure knowing that we have control of our lives. But with so much uncertainty in the world right now, I wanted to share some simple ways to stay calm in the unknown. 1. Acceptance over resistance.   Practising acceptance during hard times is not easy; however, it is also the most effective way to move forward. From here, we can choose how we want to respond in a far more empowering way, instead of wishing the situation was different.   2. Prioritise self-care.   Every day, do something that makes you feel good. Exercise, meditate, read, walk in nature, eat healthy foods.Health is the foundation of happiness.   3. Focus on what you can control.   We can't always change the things around us, but we can choose how we respond. Make a list of all the things you can control each day, you will be surprised at just how much you can influence.   4. Give yourself grace   Now is not the time to be criticising yourself.
