Online business has a way of making people feel like they are going crazy. Stressing out over everything. Checking their numbers obsessively. There's a reason for this. From the beginning of our lives and throughout our schooling and social upbringing, we were programmed to follow the tracks that other people lay out for us. And when you start a business, there are a lot of people saying "Follow my track" and they're tapping into the fact that this is exactly what you want to hear. And so you follow the track, you take the steps, you do all the things you're told to do, exactly the way you're told to do them and yet... nothing is working the way guru X said it would. So you think something is wrong with you. "Maybe I'm not productive enough, pretty enough, well-spoken enough..." And your stress levels start rising higher and higher because you're trying to focus on all the things you're told to focus on: "be consistent", "grow your numbers", "sell people what they want to buy." Let's clear all of this away and sit still enough to see what's really going on. "What do I really need?" "What do I really want?" A little voice might respond: "I want to feel the way I want to feel." Ok, what's in the way of that? The Little Voice: "I can't feel the way I want to feel if I'm always doing what other people say I should do." What happens when you always do what other people tell you to do? The Little Voice: "It keeps me out of touch with what is uniquely best for me." What happens when you do what's best for you? The Little Voice: "I focus on what I can control." What happens when you focus on what you can control? The Little Voice: "I find my power. I find peace. I find well-being." What's stopping you? The Little Voice: "I don't know who I am without following other people's steps for me." But isn't that the journey? To come back home to who you are? The Little Voice: "Yes" You are safe.
