Episode 2: Greener Pastures (Bryan Simon)
Today's guest is a Minnesota farmer who raises grass-fed beef. He is an organizer for the Land Stewardship Project, and he has also earned a Master's degree in Ecology. On his farm he employs a system of rotational grazing, aimed to mimic the behaviour of migratory animals in order to restore and maintain the ecology and resilience of the land. He is very much concerned with the shortcomings of conventional animal agriculture, and builds a compelling case for alternative models of animal agriculture. I had a great time speaking with him. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Bryan Simon. Episode 1: Cancer as a Metabolic Disease (Thomas Seyfried)
Welcome to the pilot episode of what I hope will be a long-lasting and interesting podcast series. It is my aim to have interesting conversations with interesting people, and to share those conversations with you. For this pilot episode, I couldn't have asked for a more interesting guest. My guest today is a professor of biology at Boston College, he's authored a number of scientific publications regarding cancer, cancer biology, angiogenesis, and novel approaches for the treatment and management of cancer without toxicity. In 2012 he published Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer. He's currently involved in cancer research, and we discuss much of that research today. As we talked, I sensed he is a man who is very much tortured by his own knowledge of cancer, and the mortality statistics. He doesn't hesitate to pause and lament the countless lives he feels are needlessly lost to this disease. He is a man of tremendous integrity and wit, and it was an honour to speak with him. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Thomas Seyfried.
