You’ve been reactive long enough, it’s time to get down to business and set yourself up for SUCCESS! And Richard Robbins (our guest interviewee), is going to help. Here’s a few things that we asked: Tell us a little bit about why you decided to write a book & why a Fable? In your book, you look at these 7 “Success Myths”: > The Future Myth > The Knowledge Myth > The Failure Myth > The Abundance Myth > The Value Myth > The Attraction Myth > The Happiness Myth Which of these Myths (top 2 or 3) do you find Entrepreneurs struggle with the most… and how can they turn that struggle around to achieve their true potential? Can you talk a bit about Internal & External Motivation… How does one get their external motivation in line with their internal motivation to propel them forward to success? In your book, the last chapter touches on “Being Happy” vs “Having Happiness” can you elaborate on this… (Being Happy is a “Choice” vs chasing Happiness the “Thing”) Our Goal was to help you identify and dispel some Success Myths that you may be facing in your business. And to share some ways to move past those limiting beliefs and put you back on the road to success. How did we do? (Let us know in the comments below). We asked Richard to share his view on what this quote meant to him, be sure to tune in to see what his thoughts revealed – we also found out that Jim Rohn was one of Richard’s mentors too. So it was perfect for today’s episode of the “Examination Room”… In true Jim Rohn form, he states:  “You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.”  George & I weigh in with our thoughts too – what did you think – do you agree? Hey there… We’ve just released another great episode of the Measurement Doctor for Business Podcast, hosted by yours truly – George & Lorie Gill. It’s live and waiting for you right now In this episode we interview website security expert Weston Henry from SiteLock. Sadly – Website Security is a topic near and dear to us (we’ve experienced being hacked more times than we care to mention)… and thus – we wanted to learn more about why hackers pick your website, what being hacked means to your website, what you can do about it, and why it’s urgent that you take action on this now. What’s In-Store for You: If you’ve been researching and/or thinking about integrating some form of Website Security – then this episode is definitely for you. If you’re thinking this will never happen to me/you… this episode is for you too (it’s not a matter of if – but rather a matter of when). It’s time to be proactive now instead of having to be reactive later! Warning: Although this topic is of a serious nature – we do break out into laughter and have a little fun, learning about keeping our online businesses safe & secure! Let’s learn a little more about our guest Weston:   Weston Henry is a web security research analyst at SiteLock, the leading provider of website security solutions for business. At SiteLock, he is responsible for training and leading an international team in analyzing obfuscated code to prevent future attacks. So if you’re ready…grab a pen & paper (or open an Evernote doc) & let’s learn how to Protect Your Website from being Hacked! Highlights & Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: First of all… did you know what the word “obfuscated” meant? Nope Me either – I had to go and look it up! In case you were curious it’s a verb and means: to render obscure, unclear, or unintelligible – to bewilder (someone)! And that’s exactly what Hackers do… they deliberately create obfuscated code that is difficult for us non techie humans to understand. Do we have your attention now, would you like to know how to protect your online business world? Here’s a few things that we asked: Can you tell us, what is hacking, what does it entail? Why does a hacker care about me, “I’m a nobody in the spectrum of websites”? Can a business be hacked and not know it? What is SiteLock and how does it work? What are the ramifications today of not having site protection. Being the busy holiday season, do you have some tips on how businesses can protect their site Our Goal was to provide you with a better understanding about Website Security for you and your online business. How did we do? (Let us know in the comments below). You can view the entire episode here in video if you prefer (George sure does Links: Sitelock Social: Facebook – Twitter (@SiteLockSecure) – LinkedIn – Google+ Weston’s Twitter (@SiteLockWeston) SiteLock  & SiteLock Blog  This Week in Exploits (Blog post by Weston Henry): Dispelling the Myth of ‘Why My Site?’ Password Manager Apps: LastPass or KeePass Hosting: BlueHost Examination Room: In the examination room, we discuss a quote from the late John F. Kennedy—an outstanding politician, who inspired a new generation of optimism while holding office as the 35th President of the United States. We asked Weston to share his view on what this quote meant to him personally or professionally (his choice). Be sure to tune in to see where his thoughts took us – quite profound! It was perfect for today’s episode of the “Examination Room”… According to John F. Kennedy:  “There are risks and costs to a program of action–but they are far less than the long range cost of comfortable inaction.” George & I weigh in with our thoughts too – what did you think – do you agree? MD047: Interview – 4 Step Process to Great Copywriting – Henneke Duistermaat
In this episode we (Lorie and George) interview copywriter extraordinaire from Enchanting Marketing, Henneke Duistermaat. Copywriting is a bigger deal than some may think for business these days, and with that thought in mind, we took on the task to dive in and discover what makes great copy for your business, and how to generate it yourself. What’s In-Store for You: So – How are your writing skills? Would you say you’re an outstanding writer when it comes to your business material (Web Content – Blog – Email Marketing – etc)? Too often (it seems) we’re our own worst enemy… we (unfortunately) know too much and thus might have a hard time keeping it simple. Just like other areas in our lives… this too is an area where there’s room for improvement – and having the opportunity to learn tips & tricks of the trade is a treasure to discover. It’s time again to grab a pen & paper (or open an Evernote doc – like George would do), because Henneke has plenty of practical, actionable tips & processes that you can start using today to improve your copy and set you on your way to winning more clients. Let’s Start By Filling You In On Henneke’s Mission And Experience: Henneke Duistermaat is an irreverent marketer and copywriter on mission to stamp out gobbledygook, and to make dull business blogs charming. Henneke has 15 years’ experience in sales and marketing. She has worked for multinational companies like Philips Electronics and Saint-Gobain; and she’s now running her own company Enchanting Marketing. She enjoys coaching small business owners to improve their blogging and copywriting skills; and she provides editing and copywriting services too. You can find copywriting and content marketing tips from Henneke on her Enchanting Marketing blog. She’s also a regular contributor to popular marketing blogs like Copyblogger and KISSmetrics. Oh… and she’s the author of two 5-star rated books about writing and blogging (we’ve shared them below). Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: It truly was a pleasure to sit down and chat with Henneke. Personally I’ve been a long time follower of Henneke’s work (I’m not a stalker or anything), and I’m always inspired by how informative yet simply stated her posts are. Copy doesn’t have to be too wordy, nor does it have too be complicated to write. George & I we’re grateful for the 4 Step Process to Great Copy that Henneke shared with us. So, have a listen and let us know if this process and the other writing strategies & tips to stamp out gobbledygook resonated with you too. Here’s a few things that we asked: How do you define copywriting and what can it be applied to beyond headlines? What are the elements behind good copy? What’s your approach to getting rid of “gobbledygook” mentioned in your bio? To summarize, do you have a checklist that you recommend we use to test if your copy is up to snuff? Our Goal was to provide you with a better understanding about Copywriting & producing good copy for you and your business. How did we do? (Let us know in the comments below). P.S… Don’t forget to make note of the 4 Step Process to Great Copy that Henneke shared with us. It’s a simple strategy that you can start using with your very next writing project. (George did). Links: Here’s the ‘Ideal Reader Form’ that Henneke mentioned (and no opt-in required!) Curious about Henneke’s captivating writing style… check out the Enchanted Marketing Blog Ready to Connect with Henneke: Twitter  – Google+ –  LinkedIn Email: Henneke [at] EnchantingMarketing.com Oh – and – here’s the two 5-star rated Books that Henneke has written too: How to Write Seductive Web Copy Blog to Win Business Examination Room: The quote today, may have been a little too simple for Henneke – but I happened to love what it said, and felt it was perfect for today’s episode of the “Examination Room”. Our quote today is by Leo Burnett – and goes like this… Make it simple. Make it memorable. Make it inviting to look at. Make it fun to read. ~ Leo Burnett Henneke summed it up well, and I think you’ll be surprised when you listen to her response – it isn’t copywriting related. (George’s was though). Prefer To Watch The Interview: Today’s Podcast has a video version too, for those listeners, who’d like to watch instead of just listen. {I’m one of those types of listeners who enjoys learning with a video while I’m on the treadmill or elliptical machine.} We’re still on the fence… perhaps you could weigh in on this – Do we continue with video recordings – or do we just stick to the Audio? In this episode George and Lorie interview one of the biggest experts in Self Publishing, Joel Friedlander – on why you need to publish a book now for your business and how to go about doing it successfully. What’s In-Store for You: Perhaps you can relate… I’ve often said that I’d love to write a book – but to be honest, I’m just so overwhelmed. I don’t really know where to start, I’m not sure if my ideas are even good enough to be put into a book, and then there’s the publishing aspect… who would want to publish my book? George & I agreed that we wanted to know more about the whole process of Publishing a book, from thoughts to book – so we asked an expert to answer our queries. Here’s a few reasons why we chose todays guest, Mr. Joel Friedlander to chat with us on the topic of Book Publishing: Joel Friedlander (@JFBookman) is an award-winning book designer, blogger, and writer. He’s been launching the careers of self-publishers since 1994 from his book design and consulting practice at Marin Bookworks in San Rafael, California. Joel really knows his stuff when it comes to Book Publishing… So have a listen, take some notes, and then let us know if you too experienced an a-ha moment (or two) that has inspired you to consider Publishing a book for your Business? Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: As this is a topic of interest to both George & myself, we weren’t afraid to put Joel on the spot – asking him extensively about the things that need to be considered when you go down the path of writing a book and having it Published. Here’s a few things that we asked: Why as a small business or entrepreneur should I want to write a book and have it published? What are the ways people can get a book published today, and what are the differences? I’m not a great writer -any tips on how I too can become a published author? What are some of the biggest challenges that you see people facing on the path to being published? Our Goal was to provide you with a better understanding about Publishing & Self-Publishing, as a way to grow your Business, and show your Authority in your area of expertise. How did we do? Do you have an interest in publishing a book for your business (or personally)? Perhaps you’ve already published a book… Care to share some of your experiences in this arena? Examination Room: Are you ready for the “Examination Room”? Joel may not have been (as he had no prior warning), but he sure handled it well. Of the 3 quotes I had as options for today’s guest, George chose the one by Seth Godin, (it was really quite fitting as a wrap up to our discussion on Publishing) and it goes like this… “The future of publishing is about having connections to readers and the knowledge of what those readers want.”  ~ Seth Godin To see this quote along with other Inspiring & Motivating Quotes like this – head over to the ‘Empower Inspire Motivate’ Facebook page. MD044: Interview – The Art Of Networking To Grow Your Business – Tammy Heermann
In this episode we dig into the topic of ‘Networking to grow your business’, with Vice President of Global Leadership Development at Lee Hecht Harrison Knightsbridge, Tammy Heermann. Tammy, not only shared her knowledge and expertise on Networking and putting your yourself out there to have more influence in your industry, but she also allowed us to partake in her view of Toronto’s City scape (from her office) too.  What’s In-Store for You: What type of Networker are you… Are you the shy type, a wall-flower perhaps, you prefer not to be part of the conversation unless someone asks you a question? Or do you have it all together, you’re cool, calm & collected, and you work the room with ease, chatting it up with practically everyone? If you’re like me (says Lorie), you’re somewhere in between – and perhaps (also like me) you’re up to learning how you too can increase your focus, capability or confidence to become a better Networker! It doesn’t matter which type of Networker you are, you’ll enjoy and learn from todays Interview with Tammy Heermann. We dive in and discuss things like having a Networking Mindset, the Skillsets needed to Network, and of course some best Practices to Networking. So, go ahead and grab a pen & paper (or as George would do – open an Evernote doc), because this is another powerful session filled with practical, actionable information that you don’t want to miss. To get us started… Here’s a jam packed summary of Tammy Heermann’s Professional Experience: Tammy Heermann is a sought-after advisor who helps individuals and organizations get serious about leadership. She has developed pioneering and multiple award-winning programs aimed at changing mindsets, advancing skillsets, and sustaining deliberate practices to achieve high performance. While having significant impact in the C-Suite, she is happiest when pushing up-and-coming leaders to break through organizational and self-imposed barriers to reach their potential. Her clients express the value of Tammy’s down to earth, practical style in creating an environment of trust in a room of strangers. Tammy’s work developing leaders has included both global consulting and international management roles. Over the course of her career, she has worked with thousands of leaders. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics with a Master of Science degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree with a double major in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Saskatchewan. Umm – WOW! That’s quite the repertoire…  it was truly a pleasure to sit down and chat with Tammy, and we realized quite quickly that she’s very down to earth, and extremely passionate about what she does. So have a listen and let us know what you think. Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: Tammy is a Speaker, Advisor and Coach – helping people grow and break through barriers, and today we focus on one key area which we know that she has a lot of expertise in – Networking. She has a bring it on kind of attitude, so that’s what we did… Here’s a few things that we asked: Networking is important, in fact one might say critical. Can you tell us what is networking to you and why it’s important to entrepreneurs and business people? Since we’ve gone down the path of introvert/extrovert, it’s only fitting that we ask is there a difference between how men versus women network? How does social media fit into today’s networking compared with traditional networking as we know it. What are some of the big nuances we need to be aware of? What are the most common mistakes you see people making when networking? Our Goal was to provide you with a better understanding about Networking, the ins and outs, and how to go about implementing some networking strategies for you & your business. How did we do? Has this podcast interview helped you shift your mindset about Networking? Do you have different versions of your story to share depending on the group of people that you’re Networking with? It’s time to start seeing the world through a different lens… and work towards building strong relationships. P.S… Don’t forget to take some time to think about the 3 types of Networks Tammy shared, and determine where you need to start putting some extra time and energy into your networking. The 3 types of Networks were Operational, Future Focussed & Career! Links: Lee Hecht Harrison Knightsbridge Ideas & Insights Lee Hecht Harrison Knightsbridge Email: Tammy.Heermann@lhhknightsbridge.com Twitter: @TammyHeermann Tammy’s LinkedIn “Strengths Finder 2.0” by Tom Roth – (the book Lorie was trying to remember) We mentioned networking for Succession Planning, this was a powerful episode too. Examination Room: Tammy loves quotes just as much as we do – so she was game to play along with the “Examination Room”. Our quote today is by Harvey Mackay (the master networker himself)… “My Golden Rule of Networking is simple: Don’t keep score.” ~ Harvey Mackay Tammy summed it up well when she said “Networking is a long term game, it’s not about keeping score…” To see this quote along with other Inspiring & Motivating Quotes like this – head over to the ‘Empower Inspire Motivate’ Facebook page. Jeremy also owns a personal finance and credit education company called, The Credit Doctor. Although Jeremy may have kept his bio short and sweet, he had plenty to share with us in this interview. The episode ran a little longer than we anticipated – but it’s because Jeremy had lots of examples to share with us about Infusionsoft and how it benefits businesses. So… grab a pen & paper (or open an Evernote doc), and get ready to learn how Infusionsoft can help YOU! Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: Jeremy is our go to expert when it comes to Infusionsoft, he’s our inside guy so to speak… so we weren’t afraid to ask him some tough questions to get you the real scoop on this robust All-In-One system. It’s easy to be tempted at the lower cost of an email autoresponder service like MailChimp, Constant Contact or AWeber (or something similar) like that… Using an example – explain the extreme differences of Infusionsoft compared to these other type of services & why these differences matter? MD042: Interview – Accounting for Your Business – Gwyneth James of Cody & James
In this episode Lorie and George talk about Accounting. We interview with Gwyneth James of Cody & James about Accounting for your Business. When to bring on an Accountant, and how your Accountant can be an added resource of Business Planning. Why do we want to embrace that relationship to build our business? What’s In-Store for You: Being Entrepreneurs & in Business for ourselves, we wanted to know more about what we should be expecting from our Accountant on a Business level. Okay – we know what you’re thinking… Accounting can be a bit of a dry topic, but not to worry – because Gwyneth shares plenty of valuable information that every Business really needs to be aware of! Why Did We Interview Gwyneth James MBA CPA, CGA: Gwyneth worked for several years providing management and financial consulting to a variety of corporate clients before acquiring TCP Accounting in 2009. Gwyneth brought on a partner and together they rebranded to the present Cody & James Chartered Professional Accountants. She is a strong believer in giving back to the community; Gwyneth volunteers her time with many local charitable organizations including the Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation, Women’s Business Network, and Peterborough Theatre Guild. Gwyneth and her partner, Suzanne Cody, have grown their firm into an important resource for any small business owner in the Kawarthas. They add a friendly dose of advice and guidance to the staple services of accounting, taxes, bookkeeping and payroll. Gwyneth also has a financial management consulting business with clients in the public sector. She is passionate about the community and has served on several non-profit boards. Gwyneth is a member of several Business Groups in her area, including the Chamber Of Commerce. Gwyneth really knows her stuff when it comes to Accounting & Business Taxes and she has an Entrepreneurial mindset too… So have a listen and let us know if you learned a few tips about Accounting for your Business! Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: We put Gwyneth in the hot seat – asking her extensively about what businesses need to consider in hiring an Accountant, and what their business accounting needs might be. Here’s a few things that we asked: At what point am I big enough to hire an Accountant for my Business and why? What should I expect from my Accountant? As Entrepreneurs – we take risks. Often times Entrepreneurs (that we speak with) feel that their Accountant is too conservative, and therefore they tend not to involve them in some of their Business Planning stages. Talk to us about this… Our Goal was to provide you with a better understanding as to when to bring an Accountant on board, and how your Accountant can be an added resource for your Business Planning – How did we do? Do you and your business currently have an Accountant that you rely on for more than just the basics? MD041: What You’ve Missed Interview Recap of Business Services
In this episode, we decided to do a quick recap of the past 3 episodes of the Measurement Doctor Podcast. With it being a new season, and a new format (which we hope you’re enjoying), we thought that we’d share our thoughts on that past few episodes too. What’s In-Store for You: In this episode Lorie and George review the last three episodes. Interviews geared towards helping your business grow and foundational business services. We added in a “Video” element to a few of our Episodes – what did you think? Should we continue to add in the video, or should we stick with just audio? Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: We discuss some of our take aways from the past few episodes We also share a few teasers on what’s to come in future episodes (no spoiler alerts – just a little enticement to continue to stay tuned in). Examination Room: We’ve had a lot of fun putting our guest speakers on the spot… when we head into the Examination Room – and the responses have been awesome too. It’s always great to get other perspectives & it continues to be one of our Favourite parts of the Podcast Episodes. Our quote today is about thinking & overthinking… or as Lorie put’s it “Procrastination”. Kind of fitting really, because as business owners & entrepreneurs we have so many decisions to make – but sometimes it’s the thinking & figuring things out that bogs us down – and as George would say – we get stuck in “Analysis Paralysis”. If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done. ~ Bruce Lee In order to reach success in the future—we need to figure out what’s happening in our businesses today. But don’t spend so much time in the thinking stage that you never get anything done – break it down into simplified steps to get yourself going, and gain some momentum to keep going to the finish line. MD036: Measurement Begins With A Tracking Strategy – What Can I Control?
In this episode, we’ll be discussing with a measurement mindset (of course) setting up your marketing campaigns with a measurement tracking strategy… this is the part that is done prior to ever launching your marketing campaigns of ads and posts. Let’s think about it this way… What can I control that I need to track? I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before (or something similar to this effect because tracking is so KEY) that when you add tracking to your campaigns so you can  measure your results—you’ll acquire a far better understanding of your marketing efforts, and you’ll be able to know quickly, what’s working, and of course what’s not.   What’s In-Store for You: Essentially we’ll be answering these 2 key questions: What can I track – (what’s trackable in your marketing efforts) What can I affect – (what is affected by tracking and making changes)   Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode Learn about how you can identify if you have Google Analytics on your site (however – if you’re not using Google Analytics then chances are you don’t have it installed) Adding tags to your campaigns for tracking marketing posts Understanding that social posts are campaigns, and trackable – whether they are a brand campaign – sales campaign – or other (so you can measure your results). MD034: Improving Your Marketing Through Resistance Points – Part 1
In part 1 of this episode, Lorie and I walk through the process of marketing strategies for your product or service—by discussing key resistance points, how to measure them, and why you should always keep them in the forefront of all your marketing endeavours. What’s In-Store for You: Measurement is critical to the success of your business. That is something that you need to remember. And that same rule applies when it comes to your marketing efforts. Believe me. I’ve been down that road before – many times. After all, I’m the Measurement Doctor. Now, you might be asking: Why do I need to measure the steps and results of my business? Well, the answer is because measuring will allow you to identify whats working, take the necessary steps and actions to improve each aspect, and avoid continuing strategies that have a negative effect on your business. It is important to note however, that almost every strategy to your business will most probably have key resistance points. However, that shouldn’t discourage you, that should in fact excite you… Instead of stopping whenever you encounter certain issues or difficulties, you should instead take that as an opportunity to fine-tune your strategies. As long as you’re measuring, that’s exactly what you’ll be able to do. So, let’s say for example you are planning to undertake online ads. What steps do you take? What specific resistance points will you most likely encounter? One of the key aspects to consider would be your market or audience. Who are the people you should be targeting? How much will your ads cost to target them? Will the campaigns be financially feasible? Let’s face it: Running ads will cost you money. But the key here is to ensure that you are able to spread your message to people that actually matter (meaning: those who will most likely be interested in what you have to offer). Afterwards, you should create ads that your intended audience will resonate with. What specific groups of people are showing interest? What are there demographics? What specific likes or interests do they have? Incidentally, these are the points that can help you make the right ads, at the right price. And take note: If you focus your ads on the right people—the more cost-efficient your ads will be. Another point to consider is the expectations of your market. What do they expect based on your ad message? And more importantly, do you have a way to validate your claims (like a good landing page)? Are your ads able to connect with people? Are they in-sync with what your potential customers are looking for? Do your campaigns have that “trust factor” to give people the confidence that you really are the real deal? Admittedly, marketing can be a complicated issue… However, if you have that “measurement mindset,” you will have a better idea on what steps to take. When you measure your results—you’ll be able to know what particular parts of your campaigns are working, and which need to be adjusted. Accordingly, you get to make more informed decisions that will ultimately help you climb that ladder to success, at a much more efficient and successful pace. I really love this topic—and we have lots more in-store for you (in fact this podcast episode is just part 1 of a 2 part series). Please tune in if you want to learn more… Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in This Episode How you can determine key resistance points, and measure them to increase your chances for business success. Strategies to help you gain your market’s attention—and convince them that you are the solution they need. The importance of landing pages in online campaigns, and why you should make it a point to always keep them in check. Understand click-through rates at a deeper level. How to measure your ad metrics—and use them as points for adjustment or improvement. The importance of the “measurement mindset”—and why you should develop it early on for your business. Links Daily Dose Examination Room In the Examination Room, we’ll be discussing a very interesting and truly applicable quote regarding marketing: Marketing is a contest for people’s attention. Seth Godin CLICK HERE to submit a quote for future examination! For me, this quote is simply telling us that marketing is about communicating to people—with the goal of catching their interest and attention. In order to actually win the “contest” we need to continually improve. We should focus our marketing efforts on reaching the right people—with a message that actually offers value. And how do we do that? Through proper “measuring” coupled with ever improving strategies. MD033: The Pros and Cons of Diversification
In this episode, Lorie and I discuss some of the options for diversification strategy available to go-getters today, as well as the pros and cons of diversification—to help you make more informed decisions and strategies for your business. What’s In-Store for You: If you’re a go-getter—then you are probably looking for ways to diversify your income. And you know what? That’s a good decision! In this day and age, there are quite a number of options that can actually help us earn and grow our income. But take note though: Before you go jumping on that new “multimillion” bandwagon that you heard about—you need to be careful. Not every opportunity out there can actually bring you the desired results. What are the pros and cons of a specific platform? How should you approach a specific option? What is the time and energy commitment? By knowing which is which, you get to minimize unnecessary risks—and you get to reap more benefits as well. Now, you might be asking yourself: Why should I diversify or look for additional means of income, when I’m already doing quite well with my job or business already? Well, if you ask me—it’s all about grabbing the opportunity to grow and become an even better you… When you are successful in diversifying, you are able to increase your income. You don’t have to put all your eggs in just one basket. You are able to earn while ensuring that your lifestyle fits you. You are able to make your future better. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you’ll automatically become richer when you diversify. In fact, diversification may involve certain risks or cons. Fact of the matter is: Diversifying will mean more work for you. And if you are unable to strategize or manage your time (or actions) properly, chances are it can make you lose your focus. In some unfortunate cases, people may even lose friends along the way. Or—you might get way over your head. But as in all endeavours—your success will lie in your own hands, and on how you actually go through with it. So, do you want to take the chance and learn how to diversify your income—and increase your chances for earning even more? Here are some good options that you might want to start with: Affiliate marketing – in this strategy, you don’t need to have a product or service. All you have to do is simply promote someone else’s product—and earn commissions for each sale coursed through you. And take note: Don’t underestimate this option. A lot of people are actually earning hundreds of thousands (even millions!) of dollars through affiliate marketing. Of course, you need to dig deep into it first before proceeding. Online Training – if you already have an existing business, then why not provide online courses to interested people? Through this strategy, you are able to establish yourself as an authority in the field. It adds prestige to your brand—and surprisingly, you also get to become better at what you do by dealing with students. Oh and don’t forget: You get to earn more at the same time. Multi Level Marketing – first, let me give a disclaimer here: This option is not for everyone. If you plan to engage in this strategy, you need to be doubly careful. Admittedly, however, a lot of people have earned big bucks through this platform. But again—please be careful. Lorie and I delve more about diversification, as well as the different aspects of the money-making options that I mentioned above. If you want to know more about how you can get more income by diversification, please tune in… Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode Learn about how you can diversify—in order to earn greater income. How you can earn good additional income, while living the lifestyle that you truly want. The “red flags” to look for in certain business opportunities. How to hurdle hardships and failures in your diversification efforts. Detailed analysis of certain diversification options—and how to approach them for success. Understanding how you can make diversification work for you. Links Share A Sale Daily Dose Examination Room Our quote is from a well respected person in the business world today: Warren Buffet. He says: Wide diversification is only required when investors do not understand what they are doing. CLICK HERE to submit a quote for future examination! To me, this quote is telling us that we need to understand every endeavour that we are doing or planning to do. Understand deeply! In order to reach success—we need to work hard for it. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it – it’s that simple. We need to do our homework, regardless of the type of steps or actions that we need to undergo. And instead of transferring liability to other people or to circumstances “beyond control,” we should try to take responsibility for our actions. This will help us learn a business at a much deeper level—ultimately making us better at what we do. MD032: 5 Steps to Embracing Failure to Achieve Success
In this episode, Lorie and I discuss the importance of embracing failure to achieve your ultimate successes in life. And more specifically, how one can willingly move towards failure—and learn to become a better person out of that. What’s In-Store for You: We all want success. That’s a fact that I think everyone will agree with. However, a lot of people seem to take a step back—because they don’t want to fail. And is that good? Of course not. Remember: Failure is a key ingredient to success. As it is, you should learn to embrace it and consider it as part of the equation. Now, I’m not saying that you should aim to fail. What I’m saying here is you should not let your fear of failure hold you back. If you fear too much, then you won’t be able to take the necessary action steps that may bring you to your ultimate goal. Yes, failing can be scary. But that should not prevent you from becoming who you’ve always wanted to be. So, how do we embrace failure and use it to achieve success? Well, first and foremost: You need to have the proper mindset… If you’ve failed before—don’t hold on to it too much. Don’t hold on to the past, because it does not equal your future. Never think that you “can’t” succeed. Instead of letting your past get the better of you—move forward and just take action. Take note that everyone sucked at first. All the famous and successful people we know have one way or another failed along the way to success. And did they let their failures hold them back? No. In fact, they used their failures as the motivation to work even harder. They used their failures to become even better at what they do. After all, thinking “you can’t” doesn’t necessarily mean you “won’t.” All of us have what it takes to succeed—it’s all about timing and strategy. Here’s a friendly reminder: Planning and strategizing is always good. However, once your plans and strategies start to interfere with you taking action—then that can be a problem. If you plan too much and make it a reason NOT to do anything (in other words: you’re rationalizing your fear), then you are just fooling yourself. In reality, you’re just afraid—and are using “planning” and “strategy” to run away. Honestly, that won’t take you anywhere. Remember: Every great person out there—from billionaire entrepreneurs, heroes, presidents, the richest people in the world—have experienced failing. However, that did not stop them. Besides, failure is only failure once you stop trying. If you continue to do what needs to be done, you are merely “adjusting” for success. So, never stop. You owe yourself that. Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in This Episode The main reasons why you shouldn’t let failure affect and prevent you from reaching your set goals. The principle of the “carrot and the stick” and how you can apply it in your own life. How you can take action—and use the proper strategies for success. How to redefine failure and use it as an opportunity to succeed. Ways to get over your fear of failure—and use it to boost your mindset for success. How you can “visualize” to minimize fears—and to increase your motivational mindset. Personally, I think this is all about the journey to success… Everyone wants to succeed instantly—but fact of the matter is: we need to actually work in order to reach our goals. We need to undergo important experiences and processes in order to become who we’ve always wanted to be. There are no shortcuts to success. Don’t fear failure. Don’t take unnecessary shortcuts. Have the proper mindset for success—and there’s no reason you won’t reach it. Just take the first step—and you’ll do fine. MD031: 5 Killer Tips to Pump Up Twitter Results
In this episode Lorie and I discuss five killer tips to take your social media on Twitter to new levels of results for your business. What’s In-Store for You I’ve said this before—and let me say it again: I’m not the most “social” person in the online world. In one way or another, I seem to find a hard time working in the social media scene (which is primarily the reason why Lorie is the one running our social media team). But I have to admit: Social media is one of the most important parts of business today. Whether you are a start-up business or an established brand—you need to have a social media strategy. There’s no other way of going around it. Now, when we talk about social media, we can’t—and shouldn’t—forget about Twitter. After all, Twitter (along with Facebook) have billions of users that we can easily reach out to. And of course, you need to take advantage of that if you want your business to grow using this channel. So, how do we pump up Twitter results? How do we use this platform to cater to our current and prospective clients and customers? It’s all about communication… If you want people to relate to you or your brand (via Twitter) you need to be interesting enough. You need to be unique. Chances are most of your competitors are using “tweets” and “hashtags” to reach the same audience that you are trying to reach. And if you aren’t prudent and strategic about how you go about this—there’s a big chance that you will get lost in the fray. Use images to stand out. Remember that people are visual beings. Through interesting and relatable images, you are able to draw people in—increasing the chances of your content being consumed, retweeted and shared. Another advantage of using images is that you are able to get around Twitter’s 140 character limit for tweets (well sort of). If you want to make things more effective, you can actually tag your images to related influencers to increase quality traffic. Here’s another strategy to ponder: Take note of the 80%-20% rule. This simply means that when you are sharing content or tweets—80% must not be all about promotion. Don’t create content that always pertain to how good you or your business are or “buy now”. That can seem “spammy” and people will only get turned off and tuned out. Build trust by providing quality content (the secret to showing how good you are). Afterwards, use the 20% to share how you can help people out (the “buy now”). Lastly, don’t be afraid to join conversations. Remember: Twitter is a social media platform. As it is, you should engage with others in order to widen your reach. Be helpful. Share quality content. Build authority and be sociable. These are just some of the aspects that Lorie and I discuss in this episode. There are lots more in store for those who are interested. Do you want to know more? Please tune in… Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode The main strategies that can help make your Twitter results even better. How you can use video tweets to catch more people’s attention. The reasons why you should learn to group your lists and searches for sharing content. How to use the principle of reciprocity in your Twitter strategies. Tips on how you can make your content more tweetable and shareable. Reasons why you should make your website/s more “social-friendly.” Links www.twitter.com Examination Room In the examination room, we’ll be discussing a good quote that we can apply for different aspects of business: Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Personally, I think this all boils down to reaching success. At first, things may be a bit difficult—but you need to continue striving. Why? Because when you are consistent, success is bound to follow. When planning to use social media for your business—you need to actually offer value. This will not only help you communicate effectively with people, but it can also help make your business even more successful. MD030: 10 Tips for When your Get-Up-&-Go Has Got-Up-&-Gone
In this episode, Lorie and I discuss tips on how you can get motivated and out of a rut – back on track—using principles and strategies that can help increase your motivation and productivity. What’s In-Store for You: Winter is over—and spring is finally here. Incidentally, this is another opportunity for you to have a fresh start. Let’s face it: All of us get into a rut sometimes. That’s a fact of life. The key here is to find ways to get out of that rut—in order to increase both your productivity and chances for success. But how do we get out of that rut? How do we convert those “winter blues” into added motivation? As always—the key is strategy. So, what are the ways to motivate ourselves—despite having many distractions (or when we’re just plain bored?) You might be surprised, but getting out of a rut isn’t really as technical as many think. In fact, even simple actions can go a long way (ex: going out in the sun once in a while). For example: Has boredom struck you? Then you might want to consider rearranging your work area to get a fresher feel of everything. This will give you a newer perspective of work, which in turn, can help you be more productive at whatever it may be you’re doing. If you have someone to work with, then why not brainstorm with him/her/them in order to explore new ideas and reduce stress? If you’ve ever noticed, we are actually the hardest on of ourselves when it comes to judging and evaluation. A lot of people tend to put too much pressure on themselves—that they end up losing motivation. Counterproductive! Obviously, that’s never good (whether you have a job or running a business). A solution… “call a friend.” Now to play devils advocate, of course, this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have goals. In fact, if you want to motivate yourself—you need to have a set of goals to achieve. This will give you that added “juice” to work even harder. Take note though: Having goals is good, but that’s not enough. You need to take action. Do what needs to be done in order to become more successful. Re-evaluating your goals is another key step that you should always consider. Are your goals still relevant to your current situation? Are your goals still applicable to what you truly desire? Whatever your answer—it’s always good to take a step back, evaluate and reflect. This will help open your eyes to new opportunities that can help turn you into a better, much more improved version of yourself. Now, isn’t that exciting? Here’s another thing that a lot of people seem to take for granted: You need to reward yourself once in a while. Celebrate those little milestones that you’ve achieved with your job or business. You deserve it after all. A word of caution though: don’t let those upcoming rewards distract you. Make sure they can actually help motivate you, and not the other way around. Highlights and Takeaways Mentioned in this Episode: 10 helpful strategies on how you can deal with and get over de-motivation and stress. Ways you can become better at what you do—whether it may be your business, work or your personal life. Modes of “mind mapping” your strengths and weaknesses, for greater productivity and better results. Why you should take action—and how to do it efficiently. The main reasons why “taking a break” is indispensable to productivity. Want to become better? Learn to “dream” and be a kid sometimes. This will introduce you to new opportunities and goals—and will make things even more exciting for you. Links Mentioned in this Episode Momentum Extension Examination Room In the examination room, we’ll be discussing a quote that I believe is essential for those who want to achieve their goals: Believe in yourself. ~ Author Unknown You can check it out on the empower, inspire and motivate Facebook page. Just go to www.measurementdoctor.com/inspire CLICK HERE to submit a quote for future examination! Personally, I think this quote is all about hard work… If you want to reach your set goals, you need to work hard for it. However, if you don’t believe you have what it takes to make it—chances are you won’t be motivated to work. Remember: Success won’t magically appear before you. You need to take the proper steps to actually reach it. Once you believe in yourself—and actually take the needed steps, there’s no reason you won’t become the success you ought to be.
