The Maximus Show

M&TB on XERSradio.com - 08182015
We're joined in studio this week by the one and only Paul M. Banks from www.TheSportsBank.net! Paul was in town covering Media Day for Notre Dame. We got Paul's thoughts on that, as well as an announcement at around the 1:30:00 mark of the show regarding places you can listen to this show. (Oooooo, teaser!) Also at Notre Dame Media Day was Todd Burlage from www.TheFanIndiana.com. Todd thinks Maximus is crazy for thinking this year's Irish could have three losses by the bye week. We talked pro football (well, the Bears, anyway) with Lester Wiltfong, Jr. from www.WindyCityGridiron.com. Amazingly enough, Lester made it through this segment without being accosted by the bums on the El Train. Finally, we wrapped up the show with the lovely Allie Fontana from www.TheFantasyFix.com. Who's someone not on your radar that could make or break your team this year? Allie gives you the scoop. As always, you can listen LIVE to the show on www.XERSradio.com, every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT. Thanks for listening!

This one was a challenge, but we're proud of it. We spent the first hour talking about the Patrick Kane story. With the hockey perspective, we talked to Tab Bamford from www.committedindians.com. With some thoughts on how the media, especially in Buffalo, have handled it, we talked to Paul M. Banks from www.thesportsbank.net. In the second hour, we were able to lighten things up a bit, thanks to the New York Jets and Geno Smith's now-broken jaw. We talked to Scott Salmon from www.ganggreennation.com about the locker room fight between Smith and IK Enemkpali. Finally, we wrapped up the show with Allie Fontana telling you who you should draft at QB and when. Among the non-surprises, Geno Smith didn't rank highly on the board pre-fight. Listen LIVE every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT on www.xersradio.com! Thanks for listening!

We told you this show was jam-packed. Ian Casselberry (www.iancasselberry.com) helped us break the news of Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski getting fired. What's next in Detroit? Hondo Carpenter from Spartan Nation (www.spartannation.com) made a stop on the Tour of Truthiness to talk summer camp at Michigan State. Ed Valentine from www.bigblueview.com checked in New York Giants training camp to update us on JPP and just how good Eli Manning has looked. Ed actually sounded surprised by this. The lovely Allie Fontana from www.thefantasyfix.com let us know who we should draft at wide receiver and tight end. Regarding tight ends, to Gronk go the spoilers. Finally, we remembered wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper with Tony Cutillo from www.ewrestlingnews.com. You can listen LIVE every Tuesday at 6 PM EDT on www.XERSradio.com!

We kicked off the show with some British Open talk, which eventually turned into Tiger talk (can we call it that?). Somehow, Bill Cosby forces his way into the conversation, which allows Maximus to mention "Leonard, Part 6" for the fourth week in a row. Craig makes note of the fact that this is our 50th show on www.XERSradio.com. Thanks to all of you for supporting the year over the past year! The Cubs gave Edwin Jackson $15 million to go away. It's still a better deal than Bobby Bonilla's buyout from the Mets (if you're looking at the Mets' perspective, that is). Shaq and Scottie Pippen are beefing on Instagram. Shaq is all "BEST TEAM EVER." Pip is all "COUNT DA RINGS." Craig is all "Why is Shaq putting himself in the 4-spot on a Lakers all-time team?" Todd Burlage from www.thefanindiana.com joins us to talk about the mess that is Florida State football. It was odd when we noticed that we all agreed that Jimbo Fisher is a putz who can't control his team. To level things off, Max calls Sailor Jerry (and all spiced rum, for that matter) "swill." Roger Goodell kind of spoke about Ballghazi. Eventually, we'll get another statement from The Commish that will, in essence, say nothing. Forbes released its list of most valuable sports franchises. SPOILER ALERT: Lots o' soccer. Surprised? Tune in LIVE every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT on www.XERSradio.com!

M&TB on XERSradio.com - 07142015
Started off talking about the owner of www.XERSradio.com, Bill McDonald singing the old Looking Glass tune, "Brandy." Bill sure knows his way around the ladies. We found our way to talking about the Home Run Derby. We both think the new format helped it go better than it ever could have. Also, Robin Ventura and Ned Yost have a deal about pitching Chris Sale in the All-Star Game, in which we somehow tied in Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone joining Twitter. Johnny Oduya isn't returning to the Blackhawks, which keeps a tradition going in Chicago. Lester Wiltfong, Jr. from www.windycitygridiron.com joined us to talk about his ten most important Bears for the coming season. We also touched on Aaron Kromer being an idiot. The second hour was all-NBA. Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline (www.stitcher.com/podcast/clns-radio-online-sports-talk-radio/the-baseline-nba-podcast) joined us to talk about the Summer League and free agency, especially everything that happened in Dallas between Deandre Jordan and the Mavericks. Listen LIVE every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT on www.XERSradio.com! Thanks for your support!

Yes, this is a sports show, but we can't help but talk about the newest deplorable celebrity trifecta of Bill Cosby, Jared from Subway, and Paula Deen. We also rehash the irony that came out of R. Kelly's mouth in regards to Cosby. We talk about the Women's World Cup, NBA free agency, Stephen Colbert's interview with Eminem, The Karate Kid 2, and Jason Pierre-Paul almost blowing himself up with a U-Haul full of fireworks. Ian Casselberry (www.iancasselberry.com) joined us to talk the latest from Major League Baseball. We had to talk Ian off the ledge in regards to the Tigers' season. Max also wondered if he was risking credibility by going all in on Jeurys Familia for the Final Vote. Join us LIVE every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT on www.XERSradio.com! Thanks for listening!

It was going to be a fairly quiet show. As always, those plans went out the window real quick. We knew that the Blackhawks were going to make some tough decisions this offseason. We didn't know they would cut so deep. Brandon Saad was traded to Columbus just before the show started. Who's next? Tab Bamford from www.committedindians.com joins us while contemplating driving into the other lane of traffic. NBA free agency has started. Who's going where? Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline (www.stitcher.com/podcast/clns-radio-online-sports-talk-radio/the-baseline-nba-podcast) joins us to break it down and to spit hot rhymes about Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. The S word is on Notre Dame fans minds. No, not THAT one. We're talking about suspension. Todd Burlage from www.thefanindiana.com joins us to talk about the Greg Bryant situation and also talk some NBA draft. A couple of former Irish players were apparently drafted. (Yes, we're being facetious.) We wrap up the show talking about Troy Vincent selling out his former player brethren and ESPN's master plan to put Stephen A. Smith on 24 hours a day. Tune in LIVE every Tuesday night at 6 PM EDT to www.xersradio.com for all the fun!

The NBA Finals are done. The Stanley Cup Final has been done for a week now. Welcome to the summer slowdown. Need proof? We start the show by talking about Public Enemy's new album, the weather, Not Your Father's Root Beer, and Max's New Year's Eve with Mike's Hard Lemonade before we got to sports. Once we finally focused on the task at hand, we talked about the opening of Tom Brady's appeal and Ballghazi. We also give credit to Rob Gronkowski on being smart about something. Will David Blatt make it through the offseason in Cleveland? Is Mike Brown on Dan Gilbert's speed dial? We also dip our toes into the hot take pool and talk about South Carolina. Ian Casselberry (www.iancasselberry.com) joins us to talk about how Pete Rose is screwed in regards to making the Hall of Fame. Of course, he's only got himself to blame. We also utter the words "trade deadline", "Ryan Howard", and "Cole Hamels" before it becomes fashionable in a couple of weeks. Diddy made the sports pages today for getting into a fight with UCLA's strength and conditioning coach. Bartender finds out about torrents. AND MORE.... We started off by talking about the Blackhawks THIRD Stanley Cup win in the last six years. We both think it's a dynasty. We can only assume that Tab Bamford would agree with us, but he's drunk and celebrating (still) somewhere along the parade route. We talked about ESPN's Arthur Ashe Award and how Michael Sam hasn't really lived up to it since winning it last year. We also talked about Danielle Green, a former Notre Dame women's basketball player who is incredibly deserving of the Pat Tillman Award. Ian Casselberry (www.iancasselberry.com) joined us to talk about the latest from MLB, including the ridiculous hacking scandal between the Cardinals and Astros. Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline NBA podcast (http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/clns-radio-online-sports-talk-radio/the-baseline-nba-podcast) joined us to wrap the show and preview what became the last game of the NBA season. We were joined by Tab Bamford from www.committedindians.com to talk about the Stanley Cup Final. What do the Blackhawks have to do to win their third Stanley Cup in five years? Tab lets us know. Plus, we wager our own guesses. We have a Triple Crown winner in horse racing for the first time in 37 years with American Pharaoh. Author and historian John Greenburg (www.johngreenburg.com) joins us to talk about this historical feat. Finally, we break down the NBA Finals with Cal "GameFace" Lee. Why do we take LeBron's performance for granted? Follow Cal on The Baseline at the link. (http://clnsradio.com/the-baseline-sports-podcast) Also, the Terminator, Spiderman, Batman, and countless other movie franchises get relaunches. Why not Blade? Another great show for you this week! We got caught up on the mess that is FIFA and the Sepp Blatter resignation with Matt Goshert, host of the MLS' Columbus Crew SC-centric Massive Report podcast at www.massivereport.com. After appearing on WGN's morning show, Tab Bamford from www.committedindians.com helped us preview the Stanley Cup Finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning. "A man with more heart than Hallmark on Valentine's Day," Paul M. Banks from www.thesportsbank.net let us know how he feels about the Bulls firing Tom Thibodeau and hiring Fred Hoiberg. Finally, Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline NBA podcast helps us preview the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. We start off this week's show with some NBA Playoffs talk. How tough is Steph Curry? Are we, as fans, taking LeBron's accomplishments for granted? We move on to the Ray McDonald situation with the Bears. Bartender thinks the Bears shouldn't have even bothered signing him in the first place. We get a little deeper with Lester Wiltfong, Jr. from www.windycitygridiron.com a little later in the show, too. Tab Bamford from the freshly-redesigned www.committedindians.com joins us for some puck talk. Why are both the Blackhawks and Ducks trying to kill their fans? We go off the beaten sports path a little bit with a discussion of A Tribe Called Quest. "The Low End Theory" was so great. Why did things go so wrong on "Midnight Marauders?" We remember the soon-to-be-departed Ruben Amaro, Jr., who has begun digging his own grave in Philadelphia. We also wish Hawk Harrelson a speedy recovery. ON THIS WEEK'S SHOW: -- We distracted Todd Burlage from www.thefanindiana.com while Todd was at his daughter's softball game. Todd talked about Everett Golson's decision to transfer to Florida State. Todd also wondered if it would better for Pat Connaughton to go undrafted rather than be picked in the second round of the NBA Draft. Sailor Jerry's was involved. -- Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline caught us up on the storylines around the NBA Draft Lottery and the conference finals. HOW THE HELL DID THE CLIPPERS LOSE?? We also talked about the alleged drama between Roger Goodell and Robert Kraft, Dan Jennings as the new Marlins manager... AND MORE. Join us every Tuesday night on www.XERSradio.com at 6 PM EDT! WE CAME STRONG. (You're not going to turn that into something filthy, are you? ARE YOU??) Actually, Craig was late because Mishawaka still hasn't figured out how to put train tracks in places that don't inconvenience people when they need to get to their radio show. Consequently, Maximus bored us with how bad of an entertainment year he's had. Yawn. Todd Burlage from www.thefanindiana.com got us up to date on the Everett Golson situation at Notre Dame. Where could Everett go? Where will the powers that be at ND not let him go? Find out as Todd does this report while watching his kids play softball and drinking some Sailor Jerry. (He even used a swear!) Ian Casselberry dropped by to talk baseball after the first month-and-a-half of the season. How are the Yankees on top of the AL East? How did they also become a bigger villain than A-Roid? And, the ASTROS?? Find all of Ian's work at www.iancasselberry.com! We also talk Ballghazi and Craig makes an apology to Lindsey Vonn. When The Bartender starts dancing during the opener, you know it's another quality show. First, Paul M. Banks from www.thesportsbank.net talks Chicago sports. During the DePaul chatter, someone felt it best to put Paul on the black list. We also come up with a new segment that we'll use later this summer. Todd Burlage from www.thefanindiana.com puts a bow on the Notre Dame men's basketball season. There's good news, Irish fans: there's a lot of guys coming back (we hope). Also, Todd previews the Lady Irish in the Women's Final Four. Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline joins us for the second straight week. We talk about the mess that is the sixth through eighth seeds in the NBA's Eastern Conference. Max and Cal also crush the hopes of Indiana Hoosier fans everywhere. Finally, the immortal Hondo Carpenter from www.SpartanNation.com makes another stop on his Reckless Abandon of Truth Tour to talk Sparty in the Final Four. The name of March has been changed to Izzo and it's probably deserved at this point. Also, Carlton from Goshen done pissed off Uncle Hondo. Also, who should get the credit for Michigan State being an athletic powerhouse? -- Cal "GameFace" Lee from The Baseline brought the ruckus and got us up to date on the NBA and what the hell kind of nonsense is going on in Oklahoma City. -- Todd Burlage from The Fan Indiana broke down Notre Dame's wins over Northeastern and Butler in the NCAA tournament and looked ahead to a dangerous Wichita State matchup. We also gave the Bears some crap on signing Ray McDonald and the Cowboys for signing Greg Hardy. Also, The Wizard of Oz had The Wiz. Does Rocky have an equivalent like The Wiz? Who does each think has the best chance to beat Kentucky? Their answers may surprise you. We also take a trip to MLB Spring Training with Ian Casselberry from The Outside Corner. We also get on the topic of who could take over the hosting duties of Jeopardy! when Alex Trebek decides to retire. Why? Because we're full-service, baby.
