#58: Joseph Macolino Interview
Show Notes     [1:51] Can you tell me a bit about your background and what you do now?   [3:37] And how did you come to work with coaches specifically?   [4:54] Can you tell me something about you that most people don’t know, so an interesting or funny story or fact?   [6:06] What book have you read that’s had the biggest influence on your entrepreneurial journey?   [8:10] In your view what is branding?   [10:53] If someone’s listening to this right now and they have that challenge as well what would you say to them? How can they out more of their personality into what they do?   [17:36] Other than personality are there any other mistakes that you see coaches make when it comes to branding?   [19:16] And from your point of view how do you help people do this?   [21:06] You said the first thing you do is help them really sort of nail down who it is they want to serve who their audience is, but how important is that to the whole process?   [25:49] What’s the biggest mistake or challenge that you’ve had to face in business, either recently or in the past and how did you overcome it?   [30:03] What’s been the biggest breakthrough moment in your business over the past 12 months? So something that you do or stopped doing that made a massive difference in terms of performance.   [33:10] Apart from Twitter how else do you market your business currently?   [36:27] What’s the best piece of advice or little snippet of information that you ever received from somebody?

#57: If You Don't Like Selling You're Hurting Your Coaching Training or Consultancy Business... Here's Why
Show Notes   [3:13] Like it or not, as a business owner, as a Coach, Trainer or Consultant you will have to sell!   [3:36] When you have a business the sole purpose is to create profit for the shareholders right? You’re the shareholder!   [3:56] Don’t get me wrong, I like what I do. I enjoy giving value to my audience, I enjoy doing webinars but I wouldn’t do all these things if it didn’t help increase sales ins some way.   [4:26] If you want to take your business to its full potential and I really hope that you do, and if you don’t then this podcast or me…I’m probably not for you.   [6:09] If the service that you’re offering is going to enhance the quality of your prospect, then I’d go as far to say that it’s your duty to sell to them because unless you do that you’re quiet frankly going to struggle to survive.   [6:30] If you don’t sell to them but your competitor does they’re gunna get the business and if you have some negative connotations about selling you need to do some work on that.   [8:44] “Timid sales people have skinny kids.” – Zig Ziglar   [10:20] Change your mind-set about being sold to and selling. Make it something that you view positively.   [10:33] You wither do some work on yourself or you get somebody else to sell for you but either way you’ve gotta sell your services.

#54: The KEY Ingredient Stopping You Making Sales
I’ve attended countless sales trainings and events in my life time…   Read countless books on the subject…   I’ve listened to hours and hours of audio on it too…   Here’s something I’ve noticed about almost EVERY one of them…   Whether it’s a live event, book, audio CD or whatever…   For the most part… They don’t work for everyone!   Two Consultants could take the exact same training, sell the same product, at the same price, using the exact same strategies they learnt…    But then go out into the real world and get very different results…   One will see a dramatic increase in their sales performance…   They’ll speak to more people and convert more of the people they speak to into sales…   But the other… Might see SOME improvement…. But they’ll get nowhere near the success of the first person…   Even though they have access to the same skill set…   And you wona know why?...   It’s because they're missing the KEY ingredient that makes all the difference…    This key ingredient hardly ever gets mentioned at most the sales training available to you...    Which is a shame, because without this one key thing, you’ll never make as many sales as you should…   Even if you get everything else right…   And this key ingredient is nothing you’re born with…   It doesn’t come naturally but is something that CAN be taught, if you’re aware of it….   And that’s exactly what we’re discussing during this week episode of the ‘Maverick Marketer Unleashed’ podcast

[2:46] He was in no way qualified to give me his opinion on how I shouldn’t or should be running my business.   [3:19] The very same marketing he’s criticising, the very same marketing that he’s saying that I should be doing differently is the same marketing that compelled him to pick up the phone and ask about my services in the first place.   [4:13] “If you want to revolutionize your business and take control of your life your need to become immune to criticism about your business practises and your marketing messages. The only criticism that counts is the criticism from the market if the form of poor sales. Only dollars get the vote. Your spouse doesn’t get a vote, your mother in law doesn’t get a vote, your idiot peers who bow down to industry norms don’t get a vote, nobody gets to vote but except your customers and they only get to vote with their money.”   [10:44] In Marketing, In business there’s not really room for opinions, there’s not really room for guess work or preconceptions. To get the best results we have to committed to testing.   [12:19] Just test it and let the added sales or the better results be the only feedback that you listen to.   [15:05] If you’re not getting any criticism yet, if you haven’t faced it yet in your business then it’s simply a sign that you’re not doing enough!

#52: Why You’re Losing Out On Business Revenue and Profits
A new episode of the ‘Maverick Marketer Unleashed’ podcast is available today and in this episode I talk about an area of business that most Coaches, Trainers and Consultants ignore.   And if you’re ignoring it too you’re leaving thousands in business revenue and profits on the table.   [5:06] The charity missed out on the donation, he of course missed out on my support and I missed out because I would have loved to support a cause that he was passionate about.   [5:41] Marketing is not rocket science! It doesn’t take a genius to know how to market well, half the battle is just being THE person or business that the prospect thinks of first when they’re in the position to buy.   [6:57] If you believe that your service or your products are genuinely the best solution for your potential clients or you’ve got the best solution to solve the problem your potential clients are having, then it’s your duty to do everything that you can to convince them to buy.   [7:53] The right way to follow up is to provide people with valuable information.   [9:36] If you don’t believe your products going to solve the problem your clients having, then how you going to convince them to believe it?   [16:25] All of a sudden you neglect the follow up and somebody else swoops in…

#51: Top Dog, Top Dollar Part 2 – In Your Face Positioning Strategies from the Evil Bold Genius
[4:30] In your opinion why is it important then that your positioned at the top of the market?   [18:51] How do you go from being just a run of the mill “Personal Trainer” to being the “Mr Motivator” that’s on TV that’s charging premium fees that’s positioned as the leader in the field?   [28:48] From your point of view why do you think that the elite process (What goes on in the meetings) why do you think it’s so powerful?   [39:56] What do you say to people that say “But Jon, if I’m the most expensive doesn’t that mean I’m gunna get less business than my cheaper competitors?”   [43:29] In your business personally what’s been the biggest breakthrough in your business over the past 12 months?   [51:11] What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given from a mentor? And who was that mentor?

#50: Top Dog, Top Dollar Part 1 – In Your Face Positioning Strategies from the Evil Bold Genius
In this week’s episode of the ‘Maverick Marketer Unleashed’ podcast, we hear from Jon McCulloch AKA The Evil Bold Genius. Jon is one of only and handful of people I actually listen to when it comes to marketing my business. He has been my personal business mentor for over six years now, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. In this episode, he talks about his upcoming event with Dan Kennedy, email marketing and premier positioning strategies. All with the end goal and increasing the revenue and profits in your Coaching, Training or Consultancy Business. Here’s what You’re Getting – In Your Face positioning strategies from the Evil Bold genius Why improving your marketing isn’t necessarily the best way to grow your business revenue and profits How relentless, unforgiving follow-up guarantees an increase in sales (almost overnight) Push-pull marketing (Why you should be repelling people in order to attract your ideal clients) Why most people shouldn’t have an opinion about what you do or how you do it in your business What to do with unwanted opinions Why offering discounts is destroying your business profits Jons “Pot O' Gold” event with Dan Kennedy And more About Jon McCulloch Jon McCulloch has been dubbed “The Evil Bald Genius” for reasons you’ll find become clear as you immerse yourself in his work. But be warned — Jon’s scathing and uncompromising style and language are for neither the sensitive nor the faint-hearted. In fact, he has something guaranteed to offend everyone. But that’s OK, because Jon isn’t in the business of winning friends and influencing people, not if it comes at the expense of hiding or obfuscating the truth about what it takes to succeed legally, morally, ethically, and entirely above board in business in today’s dire economy, despite recession, bad government, and tight-fisted banks. So if you’re looking to have your hand held and your fevered brow mopped with gentle, loving hands, you’d be best advised to avoid Jon and his work because you won’t like it. On the other hand… if you’re serious about increasing your sales by 100% or more within the next three months, you’re prepared to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in to some seriously hard work, and you’re not timid, faint-hearted, or unwilling to ruffle a few feathers, then Jon is well worth listening to. Who Is the Evil Bald Genius? Jon is a leading and controversial educator in Direct Response Marketing, a fearless and

#49: Why Einstein Thinks You're Insane
I’m sure you’ve heard of Albert Einstein before today and are well aware of who he was…   But just in case you haven’t… Einstein was a German-born physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, among other feats…   He is considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century...   Very smarty guy indeed…   Anyway… The reason I brought him up was because he’s widely credited with the saying:   "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."   I may have mentioned this before in a previous email a while back, but it’s as relevant now as it was then…   There is no clear evidence that Einstein actually made that statement, but it is a pretty good quote nevertheless…   And most people would agree that with very few exceptions, it’s makes perfect sense…   I mean… If something didn’t get you the results you wanted first time around, why would you do exactly the same thing on your second attempt and expect a different outcome?   It doesn’t make sense, right?   But we all do it!   If people today actually defined insanity as “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” we’d all be classed as mentally insane…   Let’s take your business for example…   If you’re like most the ambitious Coaches, Trainers, Consultants and Speakers I know, you probably sat down at the end of 2015 and thought to yourself:   “I would like to grow my business over the next 12 months?”   And how did that go in 2016?   I’m curious, how did you set about getting MORE clients and INCREASING your personal income last year?   Again… If you’re like most ambitious Coaches, Trainers, Consultants and Speakers, you probably did the exact same thing you did the previous year…   You did the same thing and expected different results….   And what about year before that?   What did you do differently to grow your business?   I’m betting you spent your day’s, weeks and months doing the same things and expecting different results…   It’s insane!... But a pattern we all get trapped by from time to time…   In this episode of the ‘Maverick Marketing Unleashed Podcast’ we'll be talking about how to break that pattern.

#45: The Big O Standing In The Way of you and Your Next Client
“Entrepreneurs must know that businesses fail because they don’t get attention. If you want to succeed and grow your business, your sales revenue and your brand, you must get attention.” – Grant Cardone I read that quote a few months ago, and it stuck with me…. It’s something I think ALL Coaches, Trainers and Consultants need to understand. With very few exceptions, no matter what sector you work in. There are businesses out there right now who have an urgent need for your services. Even when the market is quiet, there is always someone with a need. The problem is, they will NEVER buy from you or your firm! And it’s not because you’re too expensive, it’s not because they think your competitors have a better service, It’s not even because they don’t like you or the way you do things…. It’s because they don’t even know you exist! Pure and simple. You’re obscure! And Businesses DIE in obscurity! In this week's episode of the 'Maverick Marketer Unleashed' podcast, we talk about how obscurity is killing your Coaching, Training or Consultancy business, stopping clients from ever buying from you and holding you back from ever reaching your full potential … And most importantly we talk about how to beat it!     [2:12] To be obscure means not discovered or known about.   [3:28] Obscurity kills businesses!   [4:12] If you want to succeed and grow your business, your sales and get more brand exposure you need to get attention.   [7:17] I commit to things that I feel uncomfortable.   [9:27] If you’re doing it right, you will inevitably piss some people in your market off.   [10:03] You almost want to be alienating at least some of your audience.   [11:05] You either want them to love you and want to buy from you or hate you.   [12:53] Be yourself, put yourself out there make sure they know who you are.   [17:44] If it’s not you, it’s going to be someone else and if it’s somebody else their going to get the business instead of you.   [18:48] How would it be for you if all of your target market at the very least knew of you?
