"A PSA for Car Tweezers" | In Conversation with makeup artist and author Lauren Vena
I'm back! Not with part 2 of the last episode, which I released a month ago (more?) but with an incredible conversation with Lauren Vena.  Lauren is a pro-makeup artist with decades of experience and is currently the cover and features MUA for Bella Magazine. Her first book, My Mom: the best mom ever! seeks to accept the messiness of womanhood and motherhood that we all encounter (because it's human and that's super cool!). Lauren is super cool, too. A Jersey girl at heart, we talk about East Coast living, coming up in the beauty industry, and the one product she can't live without (spoiler: its car tweezers).  I hope you like this episode! I'll be back with part 2 of MUAs who revolutionized the game as soon as I'm done with research. There are so many cool people I'm learning about and I can't wait to share them with you! ❤️  Check out Lauren's IG https://www.instagram.com/makeupartist_lv/ 👀  Lauren's book: https://www.amazon.com/My-Mom-best-mom-ever/dp/1735094439 ✌🏻 Juliya --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-makeup-artist-chronicle4/support

This episode is focused on the MUAs in Hollywood and include Max "Maxy Boo" Factor, George "Georgie Boy" Westmore, Dorothy "Dottie" Ponedel, and Bernadine Anderson. I hope you enjoy part 1 and that you'll tune in for part 2 next week where I will talk about the MUAs who have revolutionized fashion, beauty retail, and the internet.  Drop me a DM www.instagram.com/muachronicle or a voicemail 877-THE-MUAC with your thoughts! ✌🏻Juliya Theme song: Microphone by Lady Bri Producer and Sound: Lex Agolsove --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-makeup-artist-chronicle4/support

Oscars Are All About Drama, Change My Mind
I was doing an episode on weird beauty products after a diamond made out of ranch triggered a memory from 2005 when Burger King made a fragrance. Then the Oscars happened. So naturally, I wanted to talk about the moral of the story: live like you're Tiffany Haddish at the Oscars.  I talk outfits, cool moments, and yes, that slap.

Dessert by Jessica Simpson (2004)
It seems like every celebrity is releasing a beauty brand so, in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, I couldn't help but wonder... where did the intersection between celebrity and beauty brands begin? Once I tickled the Googler, I found out some fun tidbits and unlocked a core memory.  I hope you enjoy this episode! What's In A Professional Makeup Artist's Kit?
Juliya unpacks her kit to tell you all about her can't-live-without products as a professional makeup artist. She also discusses types of makeup packages for private clients and how they are priced. Alternative title for this episode: "Pull It Out Of My Butt" because of the number of times Juliya says that phrase and also because she asked her producer to name it that. www.youtube.com/c/TheMakeupArtistChronicle/videos ⬅️  Catch the video of this week's episode! Staying Open To Inspiration with Amanda McIntosh, Founder and CEO of Take My Face Off
Amanda McIntosh knows a thing or two about how frustrating taking off makeup can be. As a professional musician, she found all of the cleansing methods out there to be bad for skin or bad for the environment. After years of research and prototyping, Amanda came up with The Mitty - a plush alternative to washcloths that fits snuggly on the hand and only needs water. The Mitty is now just one product in a lineup from Amanda's beauty brand Take My Face Off. In this episode, she talks to Juliya about what it's like to start a beauty brand while balancing being a professional musician and raising a family, her non-linear path to creating Take My Face Off, and why it's always important to stay open to inspiration (hint: it's truly all around you). This conversation is a must-listen for anyone interested in launching a beauty brand or side hustle! Questions/thoughts to share? Always Remember Your "Why" (Finding Gigs and Getting Paid)
Juliya is back with her first solo episode in a while and she wanted to cut through the BS - we need to talk about money. Brittany Lo of Beautini and Beia on The Conversations We Should All Be Having
Some subjects are hard to talk about - like sex. Brittany Lo knew she would be a brand founder in 2nd grade and her trajectory has been anything but linear. She joins Juliya from New York to talk about what it's like to launch an unsuccessful brand before launching two thriving brands, the one piece of advice that she thinks is crucial for anyone who wants to start their own business, and the need for products focused on women's sexual health to be normalized and chic.  Juliya also gives updates on the fact that her face is literally changing shape and gets some advice from a listener.  Questions/thoughts to share?
