Episode 010 - Jeremy Mahugh, Deliver Fund
On this episode of The Love Period Podcast join Jacob Burson as we talk with co-founder and Senior Vice President of Deliver Fund, Jeremy Mahugh. Jeremy's story of growing up in Montanta, joining the Navy SEALs and becoming a sniper, starting an excavation business, getting involved in politics, and co-founding Deliver Fund is truly inspiring. His deep commitment to mission and duty carried over phenomenally to Deliver Fund's mission. The work at Deliver Fund performed by former intelligence operators from the CIA, NSA, FBI, Delta Force and Navy SEALs to stomp the world of human and sex trafficking is unbelievable. They are truly the tip of the spear leading this charge. Jeremy's story is great for so many reasons, but how he used his journey through life as a stepping stone for "what's next" is a GREAT lesson for all of us and a great way to approach each opportunity and challenge. It was a risk to step into this line of work, but it was step Jeremy had to take.. And we're glad he did. Check out his story on Episode 10 of The Love Period Podcast.

Episode 009 - Stan Hays, Operation BBQ Relief
On this episode of The Love Period Podcast join Jacob Burson as we talk with co-founder and CEO of  Operation BBQ Relief, Stan Hays.  We've had several great guests and Stan is another one we really enjoyed.  Stan was one of CNN's Top 10 Heroes of 2017 for the work he and the team at OBR have done serving the people who are reeling and recovering from the difficulties of natural disasters.  His journey to co-found OBR came in May of 2011 in response to relief efforts in tornado-stricken Joplin, Missouri.  What started as a "nudge" from his wife, led to an idea that came from a 15-minute phone call with fellow BBQ competition competitors.  In that initial effort, volunteers from competition BBQ teams from eight states answered the need to help feed displaced families, police, fire, National Guard and emergency personnel."We were able to serve over 120,000 meals over 13 days. Food was delivered to shelters, hospitals, senior living communities and the Humane Society. Volunteers loaded food into vehicles and delivered directly to families in the impacted areas. The operation was made possible by all who contributed food and supplies and funding from across the country."And that was just the beginning for Stan.  Since that time, OBR has severed millions of meals to people in disaster impacted areas, first responders, and anyone else needing support.  Most recently, OBR has been deeply engaged in support of the victims of the horrific flooding that has devastated Nebraska and Illinois.  Stan's story is great because he found his HOW and his WHY in something he loved, cooking BBQ and serving others, but he had to make a choice.  Eventually he had to stand on the proverbial dock and make a decision to step off, to step out in faith, and sail off for the journey he was created for.  Thank goodness, he did it and you can hear his story on Episode 009 of The Love Period Podcast.

And it’s not just homes, VCP is a one-stop-shop of connecting veterans to several community services and is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who took oath for our country. VCP is determined to make a difference in the lives of homeless Veterans, a task accomplished by the community, for the community. Luke was one of CNN's Top 10 Heroes of 2018 for the work he and his team at Sleep in Heavenly Peace have done since the first bunk bed built in Luke's garage just a few years ago. "A project, that was started with the build of one bed for a single family developed into something a whole lot more. With wood left over from the first bunk, another idea was created. “Who else could benefit from this bunk”?". SHP has now delivered thousands of free bunk beds to kids in tough spots. Luke found a gap and took action. The mission is simple, "If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.".
