Episode-29- Happy 2022, Yer Boy is Back from Break!!
What's up everybody it's been a busy last couple of months!  Happy new year to everybody hope your holiday season was amazing! Today is just catching up from an unexpected long break in October November and December! Things are good and I am pumped to start the year been catching up on lots of things. The family is good life is good the business is good. Excited about 2022 and putting some new things in place at home in life and in business! Always progressing and keeping things fresh and new. After this episode the format will be a lot like it was later last year and I will try to stick to weekly episodes moving forward this year with a little more format than in the past but that could definitely change as well!I don't have a lot of super planned out resolutions but I like the idea of words because I have 18 of them tattooed on my body and my words to focus on for me this year our Love and Swagger. I get into a little bit of how those came about and I'm sure they will come up more throughout the year!I don't generally believe in the new year new me bullsh*t but that being said I like the idea of having a little bit more focus and refining my business and process with things as they unfold throughout the year! Excited to be back excited to share more stories and learning as the weeks go on! Feel free to let me know on social media or however you want to get contact with me if there are topics you'd like me to discuss or look into really excited about the year and I hope you are too!! It's great to be back and I am already excited for next weeks episode! If you want to stay up-to-date between episodes or chat you can always find me on LinkedIn TikTok or Instagram!💖  Let''s Chat 💖https://www.linkedin.com/in/willschmierer/https://www.tiktok.com/@thelovableidiothttps://lnk.bio/thelovableidiot

Episode-27- Disruptive Impact - What is value? 🤷‍♂️ 💸 Value can definitely mean different things to different people
In this episode I discuss a little bit about the 20th anniversary tomorrow of 9/11/2001I talk about value and the perception, intentions, how different words can impact people differently it's all very subjective! The point is you will hear various experts, give their two cents including myself at times. But I think staying true to what you believe is valuable to yourself to your friends to your family to your audience to whom ever you are speaking to remains important. We don't always nail it, and that's OK. I think the point is to just keep trying, getting up when we fall down and learning from mistakes. There is no playbook for 99% of life and even if there was every single person would likely have a different variation of that playbook!A couple links to reference from mentions in this episode: Stanley Henry's post:https://www.linkedin.com/posts/stanley-henry_ked-activity-6841852798716522496-Pste Ariel's  profile:https://www.linkedin.com/in/edjariellee/ Tom's ProfileL:https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-broxham/ And of course you can always follow me here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/imbigwill/

Episode-26 - Disruptive Impact- Embracing Your True Self 💖
We hear people talking about being  our "authentic self" all the time but what does that really mean? There is no cookie-cutter solution or formula to follow there are just some steps that I recommend taking a look at once you've decided that you are ready to explore! Not everybody will have the same journey or path, but in order to find your authentic self and truly love and appreciate yourself and all your uniqueness, these are some of my suggestions, to help you get started!Whether you should or shouldn't that is entirely up to you! From my experience it has been hard work and rewarding but just because everybody else is talking about it doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you right now at this moment in time that's only something you can decide for yourself! Hope you find this episode helpful and enjoyable and I'll be back later this week!! 🙌There have been and are lots of posts on LinkedIn including my own about my thoughts and perspective on authenticity but the one I was thinking of in the beginning of this podcast, was from Joe Lalgee https://www.linkedin.com/posts/recruitmentmarketing1_linkedin-personalbranding-activity-6840728523997528064-mWMv Want to connect on LinkedIn?  https://www.linkedin.com/in/imbigwill/

Episode-25-Disruptive Impact: Botox...Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda? #DoYou
As usual a day late!  Today I talk a little bit about Botox in a little bit of a personal thing! I also talk about some interesting things being chatted about on LinkedIn and other platforms. Some highlights from today include diversity of thought, challenging assumptions, growing, getting over the fear of the unknowns. At the end of the day everything takes time and patience. What works for somebody else may not work for you but for me I always like to hear different opinions and perspectives it helps me get clear on my thinking about my decisions. Hope you're having an awesome week! Want to connect on LinkedIn?  https://www.linkedin.com/in/imbigwill/

Episode-24-Disruptive Impact: Do you have to be likable to be a good leader?
In this Disruptive Impact Episode, I start off by apologizing for the poor audio quality in Tuesday's episode apparently some things got off track over the summer but I think everything is back in order! The focus on this episode is do you have to be likable to be a good leader? That is dependent on so many factors, however to keep it simple I think the answer when you think about the question further is absolutely. Here are my thoughts on why and I pose the question to listeners what do you think about it from another perspective how does it resonate for you? This came up again recently in conversation and somebody asked a really poignant question that I hadn’t thought about previously. Have you ever had or worked for or alongside of a leader you didn’t like? If you didn’t like the person where are you doing your best work or were you truly engaged and inspired?I thought it was a great question and it really got me thinking a little bit differently about my previous lens.(initially likability didn’t resonate with me as much as I realized later)You may not like every decision somebody makes, there are times unexpected and unforeseen things happen in life. Every leader along the way is likely to make a mistake or say something out of character so you have to look at the overall body of work in my opinion! When I reframed what likability meant to me, my initial stance changed, but more importantly I think it evolved with more careful consideration and a little bit of different thinking or perspective shifting.Think about your own experiences and when have you been at your best working for yourself or alongside another team or group or leader, did you feel:✨Motivated ✨Inspired✨Respected✨Positively Impacted ✨Autonomy✨Provided a safe environment to fail and learn and grow?✨Were Trust,Transparency, and Integrity were valued and present?✨Did you feel heard?Sometimes we can overcome bad bosses, but typically that is short-lived and not a viable long-term solution, not to mention a burden to our mental and physical health! This is by no stretch a comprehensive list of traits or qualities of great leaders, just merely some thoughts to get you thinking? Curious to hear your thoughts and if you have ever had a particular stance on something and then changed your mind over time? The more I thought about this question from this perspective, truth is I do think the best leaders have a lot (and are at least growing towards all of) these qualities. The truth is I think I have never worked harder than for the people I truly liked and respected! If you want to learn more check out my post on LinkedIn....https://www.linkedin.com/posts/imbigwill_leadership-leadershipdevelopment-becurious-activity-6836362945463746560-6eZd

Episode-23- I'm back after a little bit of hiatus and a reasonably nice, but expensive summer!
In episode 23 I announce that I am back and I will not be doing seasons much like I thought earlier this year. I have decided to keep moving forward for now! I now have all three children in school one is a freshman in college, the others are in second grade and kindergarten. Anyways I catch everybody up on the latest news from the summer and what's going on day today these days and I talk about a bit about plans for the future! It's good to be back I'm excited to get back in the groove and really add value for everybody listening to the podcast going forward! I am pretty sure there were some technical issues because some things got moved around in my office however if you're listening to this early on I may re-upload this podcast at a later date if it's really terrible I'll just do another episode later this week. I took a little bit about my thoughts on Ali's choice for Clemson and I compared to Miami Dade county jail lol. I also talk about exploring LinkedIn and my involvement there on that platform and how I have consolidated other social media's this summer as well. I'm really looking forward to the next couple months! It's good to be back!

Episode-22- Season 1 Finale, Ready for the next Adventure?
In Episode 22 aka the season one finale of the Lovable Idiot Podcast, I chat about life, business, leadership etc. The podcast is changing and growing and I think this is a good time to end season one as we go into the next adventure for the podcast and for all of us in life! I talk vaguely about a number of different conversations and experiences I've had over the last week and the direction both myself and the podcast are heading anyways I think it was a good wrap up for season one looking forward to starting season two next week, as I had further in to the coaching business and world just as a reminder, The site is now live as a Stroke of Genius Coaching LLC https://strokeofgenius.coach/ I am toying with the idea of doing more videos either on Instagram or potentially even on YouTube in addition to the podcast! Rather than continuing to think about what I might do with the podcast I'm going to continue doing the podcast the way I've always done with it and share my life and details with everybody who listens!! In Episode 21,  I catch everyone up on the happenings of Coach Will aka The Lovable Idiot. I talk about starting a business and going out on my own. I make sure to update everyone because everybody has been asking what I have been up to and the reality is I have been working on myself and taking care of my family and my health while simultaneously building a business it does not happen overnight if it did a lot more people would run businesses! I don't know I just catch up and shoot the shit with everyone I talk a little bit about building a business and the ups and downs and how things are going. Towards the end I touch on a couple topics which I think I'll dive into more next episode. All in all everything is good I am well the family as well and it's the middle of summer in Florida lol! If you or someone you know is interested in coaching or could benefit from potentially working with me please feel free to send them my way.  Still figuring out some of the finer details but the first draft of the site is up and running and I feel good about it it's a journey and a marathon definitely not a sprint! The site is now live as a Stroke of Genius Coaching LLC https://strokeofgenius.coach/ I am toying with the idea of doing more videos either on Instagram or potentially even on YouTube in addition to the podcast! Episode-15- International Women's Day, Let's Celebrate and Support all Women Collectively!
In Episode 15 I talk about all things in the world of Will for the last week. In the spirit of last Monday being International Women's Day I did want to bring attention and shine a light on all the important women who have played significant roles in my life and shaping the man and husband and father that I become and continue to strive to be as I Grow in all those aspects of my life. I think empowering women and trying to figure out how I can help support is something I really want to explore further I'm not exactly sure what that looks like how I can be most helpful and impactful but it is definitely something I am interested in for a whole ton of reasons! That's probably a lot to do with my upbringing and having a strong mother and strong sisters and an amazing wife and daughter so I want to be a role model for my younger boys so that they can also learn and grow to be amazing young men, While supporting their friends and the women in their lives. I know that's a lot of rambling but I really just always feel inspired by the women in my life so I want to get back in anyway I can. I have of course a bunch of books this week but I would say a really good one for everyone to check out is the moment of lift by Melinda Gates. Also in the podcast world I would definitely check out Brené Brown's Dare to Lead, Episode two of a two part series with Dr. Susan David is really excellent I highly recommend it please check it out as well! Episode-12- Happy Valentine's Day! Some concerning and alarming news about somebody I used to work for in Miami that I literally tripped upon last night? Is Mercury really in Retrograde Still?
In episode 12 I start by discussing some very disturbing news I came across last evening when searching books on Amazon a name that I recognized from the past turns out he is not an author body on a quick Google search I found out some really disturbing news about a person I used to work for in Miami in the late 2000's, It really caught me off guard last night although I can't say knowing what I know now that it was terribly surprising but it's just really weird to say the least, I think I was mostly surprised that I never heard about it considering how many connections I still have to South Florida in the Miami area. Read the full story here in the Miami Herald.  I talk a lot about scrum because I am using the weekend to read and dig into a few books, The three in particular are the Scrum Fieldbook, Age of Agile, and Succeeding with Agile. All three books are a little different but all three are worth a read! As always if you want to stay up to date on the latest news and happenings between episodes follow me on Twitter and Instagram!

Episode-10-Double Digits and Two Days of Zoom
In episode 10 we talk about the weekend and getting scrum certified with Dr. Bob and two long days of Zoom! If Getting scrum certified is of interest definitely recommend checking out this class with Dr. Bob and Hyperdrive. It was fun, engaging I learned a lot I highly recommend it and I say that over and over and over for a while. It also has a lot of practical real world applications outside of the software and work industry in general. I talk about Will Smith quote that I really enjoy, on hard work and not being out worked! I don't talk a whole ton about books this week I've been tweeting more about that and sharing on Instagram.
