What do you need to do financially to protect yourself and your family? If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ve heard me talk about my 3-basket approach to financial planning. Basically, Grandma always said not to put all your eggs in one basket. Well, she was right. And this same principle applies to your finances too! Today specifically, I want to go over The Security Basket — which is all about protecting you and your family against the unexpected (such as a medical emergency, the death of a loved one, or the loss of a job.) In this episode, you’re going to be reminded why the security basket is so critical. I’m going to help you commit to getting financially organized and teach you the 4 things you must do to protect you and your family. Are you ready to make this the year that you finally fix your finances? Then don’t miss this episode! In this session, here’s what we cover: The single most important piece of advice for making financial progress. The importance of knowing your net worth. What happens if you die without a will? 025: Why You Need a Dream Account & How to Create One Today
Most people fail to pursue their dreams because they don’t know how to plan for them. Maybe you want to buy a car, take a vacation, re-decorate your home or start a business. Whatever it may be, you’re going to need to fund your dreams, and the best way to do that is by opening a separate investment account for that specific reason. Ever since I was a financial advisor, I’d ask my clients what dreams they had. Many people would say “I want a new kitchen.” So, we’d open the kitchen account and start funding the dream. Guess what? Most clients would stop asking about their “investments” and would only ask about that “kitchen account” or whatever dream account they were funding. Nothing gives energy to a person’s life about their future, like a dream account. It’s the fastest way to make your dream a reality. Your future becomes exciting, your dreams suddenly feel real, and you’re chasing something that’s meaningful to you. If you want to find out exactly how to set up your dream account, which services to use, and how to balance your fundings, then this episode is for you! In this session, here’s what we cover: The three basket approach to thinking about your money. What a dream account is and why will it completely change the way you think about your future. Why a dream account is the fastest way to turn your dreams into reality. What to do if you don’t know what dreams you want to pursue. A step-by-step formula for setting up and funding a dream account. Learn my favorite mutual fund to invest in, which has generated a 10% annual return since inception. What type of investment account should you open up to fund your dreams? The key to a successful dream account and making your dreams come true. 024: You Really Can Do Hard Things
What’s the most difficult thing you’ve gone through, and what did you learn from it? When I was 15 years old, I was hit by a car head on while driving a moped, which sent me flying about 75 feet through the air. The car had smashed directly into my left ankle. And if it weren't for my surgeon, it probably would have been amputated. While lying in a hospital bed post-surgery, another doctor came to look at my situation. He told me, “You’re never going to ski again, you’re never going to run again, and you’re probably never going to walk again without a limp.” I was absolutely devastated. Until my nurse said something to me that changed my life forever... She said “Let me tell you something. That doctor doesn’t know who you are and he doesn’t know what you’re capable of.” She gave me hope! She made me believe that I could make a comeback; that not only would I walk without a limp, but I would even be able to ski again — but it wouldn’t be easy. I spent months in the hospital, participated in daily physiotherapy, and underwent 6 surgeries over the course of a year. And guess what? I got through it. And I’m happy to report that I can ski, I can run, and I can walk without a limp. The moral of the story is that you’re stronger than you realize, and you are braver than you think. Nobody knows what you can do and you have to believe that YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS! So, what challenge are you currently facing? Whatever you’re going through, today’s episode is going to inspire you to think differently and give you the motivation to overcome anything life throws your way! In this session, here’s what we cover: Why you’re stronger than you realize. The reason why you can do hard things. How to remind yourself to survive hardship. Why serious health complications are a humbling experience. How I overcame a devastating accident and being told I’d never walk properly again. The importance of angels that show up in life. Why sometimes you have to prove everybody wrong. The way to look for Who Not How in your life. What’s wrong in your life right now that you can flip into gratefulness for the things that are going right? The reason nobody knows what you can do, and why it matters.
