The Mashup: Checking Receipts at The Intersection
It’s been a minute I know, but like we’ve all watched the news right? The Corona Virus has rocked many of our lives, so I hope you are washing your hands, staying inside, drinking your water, and hopefully, you have checked on all your people. That’s what I’ve been up to, hence why this took a week and a half to get out. I did want to share this episode and let y’all know, this may be the last episode for a bit. I don’t know how long a bit is, to be honest. We all are just playing it by ear at this point, but I love y’all this has been a great fourth season, and I will be back as soon as I can with more amazing guests, do not fret. In the meantime, I did want to give you one parting episode and guess what, it’s all about great music and two great shows that you can watch during this time of social distancing. Also, it’s with one of my favorite people and podcast host, Christina Utley. Christina runs a podcast called Recaps and Receipts (Apple & Spotify) all about the first episodes of tv shows you should be watching, so go check that out. Today’s featured shows and albums are: Hoax by Kevin Garrett (Apple & Spotify) Black Cat Neighborhood by Fallulah (Apple & Spotify) On My Block (a new season just dropped on Netflix so you’re welcome!) Please Like Me Let us know if you love these shows or albums too and what you are watching listening to during this small bit of isolation. I can’t wait to bring you more episodes in season 5, hopefully, no pandemics will be going on during that time. Stay indoors, safe, and healthy yall, Peace!

The Photograph and Our Legacy
We made it to episode 30! This week we’re back with a little review of The Photograph, but also how photographs and tangible memories tell stories that shape a legacy. My guest this week is, at this point a regular, Brittany Bellinger. We really go in-depth about our own attachments to tangible memories and storytelling, so this is one you don’t want to miss. If you haven’t seen the movie and you don’t want spoilers you should skip from about minute 20 to minute 50. If you want to follow Brittany, and you should you can find her on Instagram and Twitter or you can follow her book tube on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. You may or may not some a familiar face on there, who knows hehe. Enjoy!

The Speed of Success
This week I’m hanging with my guy Ish aka Ish, Ya Cousin, the Brooklyn rapper. I loved this conversation because Ish is one of the most brilliant people We talk about balance, what it means to seek success in life, how he feels as an artist in the current landscape of hip-hop, and how he thinks of Stevie Wonder and Lil’ Wayne as virtual mentors. Also in this episode, we chat a bit about Pop Smoke. It’s crazy to think since this recording he is gone. Rest easy Pop Smoke. Get into it and if you want to check him out on Apple or Spotify or see him live, hit up on Instagram and Twitter.

Welcome back to The Intersection podcast! On this weeks episode I talked with my guest, Dr. Anica, about her event, Race Talks with Dr. Anica, happening this Saturday, July 13th, at the Langston Hughes House. The conversation is all around intent versus impact, and how we can better navigate conversations around race. If you are interested in going please visit here for tickets. You can also follow Dr. Anica on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. While this episode doesn’t have all my typical segments it is full of heart. I hope this interview inspires you to create both positive impact and intentions in your community but also that invites you to have the hard conversations. In Honor of Black Music
We are back with another episode of The Intersection. I got to sit down with my friends Alto and Kendolyn and talk about black music month and all things black black girl magic. We explore our favorite old school artists and new school. We also talk a lot about women in Hip-Hop and there is a glaring thing i noted we didn’t talk about the trailblazers for the new women in hip-hop, so I made a playlist with just the women in hip-hop that paved the way for this new group of women in the game. This is not a playlist that you should listen to with kids around. I REPEAT THERE IS EXPLICIT CONTENT IN THAT PLAYLIST! In terms of some the links we talked about during Eyes, Ears, Heart, section you should check out Julie Adenuga’s Top 5, The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabella Wilkerson, and season 5 of Black Mirror is our and ready for y’all. For the updated version of my monthly playlist click here. I hope you have an amazing week celebrating during World Pride and Black Music month. Go follow my guests Alto on Instagram and Twitter and Kendolyn on Instagram and her radio show, City Love on the Radio. This week’s episode honors Pride month and is all about going deeper into self- exploration. I am joined by the brilliant, Brittany Bellinger, who unpacks her process of self-exploration, specifically during the Saturn Return. If you don’t know what that is, that is okay Brittany explains it. She also gives us a peek into what means to heal and grow into your identity. You can follow and reach out to Brittany on both twitter and instagram. Currently on our reading list are: They Cant Kill Us Until They Kill Us by Hanif Abdurraqib, Pleasure Activism by adrienne maree brown, Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams, and Communicating for Change by Andy Stanley. Currently we are listening to this months playlist and Saturn by NAO. If you haven’t you should definitely take a listen to both of those. I hope you have an amazing week celebrating yourself and I cant wait to hear what you thought of the episode. Self Censorship and Vulnerability
We are back for another episode of The Intersection Podcast and it is a deep one y’all! I’m so excited to have the talented poet and co-host of the So Story Podcast, Christina Utley, on this weeks episode talking about self censorship and vulnerability. We talk about all the things on this weeks episode such as holding ourselves back, connecting, being different or other, healing, and speaking your truth. It is honest and I hope you enjoy it. Go check out Christina’s personal writing on her Instagram and her blog Christina from the Midwest as well. This episode didn’t have my usual Eyes, Ears, Heart section, but do not fear here they are! Eyes: I just finished the Brene Brown special, The Call to Courage, and if you haven’t seen it yet on Netflix, I NEED YOU TO FIX YOUR LIFE! It is so good, and also is very connect to this topic. Ears: This month I have a whole new playlist for y’all! I am literally in love with all the new R&B that is coming out this year so here is another playlist with my favorites on it like Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye. Heart: Vulnerability and putting myself out there have obviously been something I am studying and unpacking so they have been heavy on my heart but also the way women’s reproductive health is being controlled and politicized is so absurd right now. People shouldn’t be policing peoples bodies and if you are going to be pro-life there needs to be some consistency so when you see schools getting shot up and police brutality you cannot be silent and say you are pro-life. We need to make the world safer all around and eliminating something that will happen regardless is not only cruel but shows the lack of concern you have for peoples lives. I hope you have an amazing week and I cant wait to hear what you thought of the episode. Rate, comment, subscribe, share, and if you have any questions or have things you want me to cover, don’t hesitate to reach out on Instagram or Twitter and you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
