#13 - Taking care of your feet - with Nick St. Louis of The Foot Collective
The feet are an often neglected part of our body.  If you've experienced knee or back pain, the feet are usually the last part that you address.  But considering that our feet hold our entire body weight throughout the day, we need to shift more attention to them.  Hip pain, for example, could be caused by a poor arch of the foot; knee pain also.    I believe this neglect stems from aesthetics, lack of knowledge and the robustness of feet.  Every day we cram our feet into feet prisons - footwear that restricts the natural movement of the feet.  Our feet were meant to grasp the ground to give us feedback from the floor.  But with poor footwear, you lose this important feedback.  Most footwear is bad, and we don't know it.  This comes from not knowing enough about the anatomy of the feet. And finally, feet are very strong.  And they'll take years of abuse before showing signs of deterioration.    In this episode, I brought on Canadian based physical therapist Nick St. Louis from The Foot Collective, a health and wellness footcare company.  I randomly came across their page on Instagram and binged on all their content.  That same night, I threw away most of the shoes and bought better ones.  What I love about the company is their dedication to improving our lives through better foot care.      There are many ways to improve your lifestyle.  Reducing unnecessary pain is one way to do so.  An unnecessary pain is caused by the shoes you wear and how you treat your feet.      In this episode, Nick and I discuss the current state of foot health, how you can reclaim your feet, and what the Foot Collective has in store for the future!      Please make sure to check out Nick at the FootCollective.com for more.

#11 - How to become a DJ with DJ Super Nova
DJ SuperNova (@DJSupernova) is a DJ, sound designer, and documentary filmmaker. Nova began his musical adventure in college by throwing small campus parties. But these parties didn't remain small. Within his third year, Nova was hosting the biggest parties in town, being the go-to man for anything music related. Nova's success as a DJ comes from his amazing ability to give party-goers a musical experience. By carefully curating his music, Nova is deliberate in his music selection. But he's not limited to parties. He's also a sound designer for theatrical performances and was instrumental in the selling out of the Chicago Shakespear Theatre play 'A Q Brother's Christmas Carol.' In 2017 Nova released "U(SA)", a docuseries that gives an inside look at the growing South African hip-hop scene and introduces Americans to how artist across the Atlantic are making it their own. I got Nova on the cast to share his knowledge and skills and he definitely delivered! Sitting down with Nova was a pleasure and an enlightening conversation. In fact, I've implemented many of his strategies after our talk (most notably his organizational skills). It's also notable how he approaches a set every night. If you're a DJ or interested in becoming one, please take a moment to consume this episode. You'll learn a lot! Here you will learn: 1. What makes a great DJ 2. What equipment to start with 3. How to compose a mix 4. How to use your current skill set to expand to different fields.

Busayo is a CPA and entrepreneur.  As an accountant, Busayo recognized the opportunity for a more efficient system that could help people file taxes.  After much research, Busayo along with his partners created AskMyUncleSam, a software that helps people understand the tax code - making filing taxes easier.   Using a technology called 'machine learning,' ASkMyUncleSam recognizes patterns from thousands of tax and financial inquiries from taxpayers and makes recommendations on deductions and other related tax issues.   Busayo has a knack for creating businesses from the problems we encounter every day.  I brought him on the show to teach us how he spots problems and makes businesses from them. In this episode you will learn: 1. How he spots business opportunities 2. Why he shut down two companies 3. How he came up with his artificial intelligence tax company 4. #9 - Growing Through Music with Saxophonist Braxton Cook
I first met Braxton at one of his Brooklyn performances. I immediately noticed how much grace and control he had over his saxophone. As a drum player myself, I knew he had invested years of work into his craft. And because my ambition to continuously improve – in life and in music – never ends, I was eager to speak to him about his journey. My interview with Braxton didn't disappoint. Braxton became a talented musician by practicing relentlessly. In his young career, Braxton has already released three solid pieces of work: Sketch (2014), Braxton Meets Butcher Brown (2015) and most recently, Somewhere in Between (2017). At some points, he would practice for 8 hours a day, not including his time studying music theory. It's no surprise that he's experienced success at a young age, and still has much more to claim. But why did he practice so much? Why did he only focus on music? Essentially, music helped Braxton grow because it gave him something to work towards. I brought in Braxton to teach us how to develop a passion for a craft how to stick with it. You will enjoy this one! In this episode, you will learn: 1. How he transferred to the highly-selective art school, Julliard; 2. The importance of having support around you; 3. Why he picked up the Saxophone 4. How he practiced for so long; 5. How he balances playing the Saxophone with being a Vocalist. 6. The inspiration behind his recent album "Somewhere in Between."

#8 - Becoming aware of your body with Physical Therapist Andreas 'Bodmechanic' Saltas
Andreas Saltas (@BodMechanic) is one of the most sought-after physical therapists in New York City.  High-level athletes trust him with their bodies.  His list of clients ranges from professional football players (Brandon Marshall, Justin Tuck) to fitness celebrities (Kai Greene, Sadik Hadzovic).  His celebrity clientele, however, doesn't stop him from helping ordinary people who need help.  Andreas is all about helping people recover. Andreas became a physical therapist after a terrible motorcycle accident left him bed-ridden for three months.  Unable to move, Andreas depended on his physical therapist to help him through.  Their work left a lasting impression on him.  Now Andreas wants to give back the same way his physical therapist did.   Andreas takes a particular interest in body posture and how it affects our quality of life.  Poor posture, for example, is one of the biggest culprits for much of our pain and discomfort.  Conversely, lack of stress management can also lead to poor posture.  It's amazing how one thing leads to the next.   With Andreas' extensive knowledge and passion for human physiology, this is an episode for everyone.  No matter what you do, your posture is important to your well being.  This episode won't leave you disappointed.   Here you will learn: 1. How your posture is affecting you 2. Why stress management is important 3. Why you should train like a 3-d object 4. How your current shoes are causing you pain 5. Why breathing properly is harder than you think

#7 - How to Destroy the Earth Less with Fashion Creative Jennifer Nnamani
Jennifer Nnamani (@j.i.nnamani) is the founder and creative director of Beau Monde Society, a socially conscious and fashion-forward agency that aims to challenge the status quo through various projects. She's also the founder of the NYC-based yearly fashion show 'Fashion Envi,' a production that focuses on fashion, the environment and life. Jennifer is here on a mission. Growing up in Nigeria, Jennifer noticed the exploitation that the nation - specifically in the Niger Delta area - suffered for its crude oil. In 1937, Shell Corporation, under the authority of the ruling British Empire, received rights to explore for oil. Estimates calculate that over $600 billion has been gained from these oil exports while leaving many of the native people poor. Even worse, between 1976 and 1991, there were close to 3,000 oil spills that left the area devastated. Noticing the destruction to her homeland, Jennifer embarked on a journey to improve the environment through her work. Jennifer is a highly-motivated and passionate person, and I’m happy to bring her work to you! Here you will learn: 1. A brief history of the oil exploitation in the Niger Delta area; 2. How to be environmentally conscious with your clothing; 3. Advice on how to throw a fashion show; 4. How Jennifer tells stories through fashion and photography
