Lisa Lindwall, VD, och Bruno Neeser, koordinator, berättar hur Hotel With Urban Deli blev till, modulerna som skeppades till Sverige och installerades helt under mark. Ett unikt koncept, i tajt och framgångsrikt samarbete med Urban Deli, har lett till hög beläggning från öppning och högre priser än planerat. Lisa berättar hur man har skapat en ny mötesplats med enligt egen utsago stans bästa internet, hur man får gäster att boka genom den egna hemsidan och vilken stor roll hotellreviews spelar. "A form of controlled Airbnb" - this is how Olle Larsson, founder and owner of Sisyfos group, describes Botell Volta - his innovative concept that combines apartment living with the functions of a hotel. Guests have an option of buying their room, which the hotel can rent out while they are not using it. A good investment opportunity, as a certain level of income is guaranteed. In another nod to its innovative nature, Botell Volta cooperates with Nitesoft, a forward thinking property management system that in this case also takes care of all hotel functions such as key passwords, communications and check-ins. Listen and find out how Botell Volta is different! "En slags kontrollerad Airbnb" så beskriver Olle Larsson, grundare och ägare av Sisyfos hans senaste projekt: Botell Volta. En 100 år gammal byggnad intill elektronikföretaget Nya Elektriska Volta i Bromma blir till ett lägenhetshotell med 82 rum.  "Ett botell är ett nytt boendekoncept, mitt emellan bostad och hotell" så står det på Botell Voltas hemsida, där kan man läsa vidare om att bli "test-gäst", boka ett rum eller investera i bostadsrättsföreningen.  En blandning utav hotell och traditionellt boende gav namnet "botell" - på Botell Volta erbjuds hotellservice kombinerat med lägenhetens pentry och plats för privata ägodelar. Olle Larsson är entreprenören och fastighetsutvecklaren är specialist på att anta udda fastighetsprojekt, lär mer på deras hemsida: Sisyfos. 

For the first time The Hotel Podcast is leaving Europe and heading over to Africa, repeating the journey of Ida and Filip Andersson, a Swedish husband and wife duo who made their new home – and opened a boutique hotel – on Kenya’s south coast. Their story began with a Christmas trip to this part of Kenya. The enterprising couple, who were living in New York at the time, saw a gap in the market for small, boutique hotels. In 2005, they moved to the area for a year to try it out, and, well, they have not looked back. With 70 staff, a 15-room beach hotel on 16 acres of land and a 300-meter beachfront to look after (not counting three children, dogs and horses), they are now experienced hoteliers, and Kinondo Kwetu has won many awards, including the 2015 World Travel Award as Kenya’s leading resort. They spoke to @TheHotelPodcast about the challenges of being Swedish in Kenya and starting a hotel business with zero experience in a new culture, raising their children in Kenya, training their Kenyan staff, many of whom come from villages with no electricity or running water, the charitable foundation that pays for a local HIV clinic and their plans to become more eco-friendly and start an organic garden.  

In Amsterdam I met with Hans Meyer, co-founder of Zoku and Johannes Menge, part of the global roll out team.  We talk about how Zoku caters for the needs of the global nomad and claims to be a new category in the hotel business: a hybrid of home, office and hotel services combined with the social buzz of a neighborhood.  It took several years and a tribe (Zoku means tribe in japanese) of 150 individuals and companies of the target audience, to develop the innovative room layout. Several prototype rooms were built and 60-120 changes were made at each stage. They even used mobile EEG equipment to measure guests' anxiety and excitement in the brain to evaluate the final room layout, design and usability.
