Mixxin' It Up w/Alan Shelton
How many of you have had a phenomenal idea and felt the urge to create it but didn't have the tools, space, and in some cases lacked the skills to bring it to fruition?
Well, we are not alone! Somebody had the bright idea of creating a space where all the tools and resources are available for use, along with the community to support you! its called a Maker's Space! It's kind of like a YMCA for makers.
In a previous episode we talked about "staying in your lane" ... doing that thing you do that is your Genius! What Inspires you, what gets you going!
Well today we talked with Alan Shelton who is the Founder of MIXXER, a Maker's Space in Winston Salem NC
MIXXER is an inclusive community makerspace that makes available resources that allow people to explore their creativity and curiosity. MIXXER is for anyone that needs a safe comfortable place to make things; whether it is an electronics project, sewing, woodworking, metalworking, if you are a lone maker, hanging out with friends, or a parent/child project. MIXXER is where you can explore your creative side and meet creative people.
Alan shares with us part of his journey from initial inspiration to fruition and what it takes to bring ideas to manifestation. We talk about the shifts that can happen when you volunteer and how community can change someone's life.
He also shares some really cool things going on in the "makers culture"
