Change your Thoughts and you Change your World !!
In this Episode we will talk about – Change your Thoughts and you Change your World?Firstly, you all would have heard these lines – your thoughts makes you who you are, you are what your thoughts are or what you think is what you become !!So to say, most of our brains are at the default setting of negativity or pessimism or limiting beliefs & self-doubt developed due to circumstantial influence or experiences during our childhood, or upbringing, or schooling or the society we grown up or any other factors around usBasis this, we get hear our fearful inner voice of protective negative thoughts saying, it is not possible for you, you are nor capable, your will be able to do it, you will fail or what others think so on so forth ….whenever you plan or attempt or even think of stepping out of your mind set to do anything new or differentNow the question is – how do we reprogram our brain? Before that let’s understand how our brain is designed or functions ?You know our brain is made of millions & millions of neurons which communicate information…so when you have a thought, an electrical signal passes back and forth between the various neurons responsible for that thought. Since the brain is always trying to become more efficient, every time two cells communicate it wires those neurons together & builds a neural circuit between them, so that it makes it easier for them to communicate in the future. And that’s how the brain gets programmed over a period of timeSo when you consciously start creating positive thoughts, positive emotions or performing some positive actions on a consistent & regular basis, new set of neural circuits starts getting developed & formed. And, over a period of time with consistent reiteration of this process, these new set of positive neural circuits gradually takes control over the functioning of the brain and re-programmes it to positivityAnd, now when you set your vision & emotionally attach yourself with it that in your mind and embed & impress that vision into the implicit part of your brain & activate the visual cortex of the brain with what you want to achieve, brain will work for you to find everything that’s available in the physical world that matches your vision – the people, the resources, the money, the place anything that matches with your vision That’s how your outlook & perspective will change, the new avenues will surface around you and opportunities will arise in abundance and the dreams, new destination becomes a reality – that’s how its changes the world for you !! Now, Change your thoughts & you Change your World !!I will leave you with this Mantra today…to encourage me to come up new such Mantras, please follow me @thefridayfoster on FB, Instagram & Twitter & keep listening to my show….!!

How to Find Your Purpose in Life !
Hello Friends, Am Prashanth your host for The Friday Foster In this Episode we will talk about – How to Find your purpose in Life ?Purpose often surfaces out from the reflection of your own life. What obstacles have you encountered? What wisdom & life hacks helped you to overcome them? How did other people help you? How did your strengths help you to become a better version of yourself etc..? We all have the ability to make a narrative out of our own lives & this is what gives us clarity on our own lives, how to understand ourselves, and gives us a framework that goes beyond the day-to-day…basically helps us make sense of our experiencesSo now let’s look at the 3 simple ways to discover your purpose in life. These are very effective as they neurologically connect with us and hence gives us the sense of Meaningfulness & Happiness 1. Reading – Reading connects us to people we’ll never know, across time and space—an experience that research says is linked to a sense of meaning and purpose.READING HELPS WITH EMPATHYEmpathy is an important character trait people can develop. It helps us relate to other people and encourages us to be kind and considerate of other people's feelings. When we read articles, autobiographies or stories about other people's lives, it helps us to develop the skills to understand the world through another person's perspective. This is a key element in being empathetic toward others. The way reading does this is through improving something called "theory of the mind." Theory of mind is the ability to attribute mental states like beliefs, intents, desires or emotions to others and to understand that other people have different beliefs, intents and desires than our own. When you read literary fiction, you're deepening your understanding of other people's thoughts, emotions and desires.2. Writing or Reflecting on your own story Yes, writing is another simple hack that can hugely contribute towards discovering our Purpose. When we create a narrative of our life stories, we are in a way reliving those difficult times or struggles or challenges or criticism and the humiliation that we have been through and can help us to see our own strengths which raised to the situation And with that we think how applying those strengths can make a difference in the world, which increases our sense of self-efficacy.So start narrating your life stories and capture those challenging moments which shaped your life & made a better person 3. Gratitude & AltruismCertain emotions and behaviours that promote health and well-being can also foster a sense of purpose—specifically, Respect, gratitude, and altruism. When we respect & be grateful about all the blessings that we have got starting from our parents, to the friends, to the health, mentors, to the opportunities & innate strength etc.. we are much more likely to try to “contribute to the world beyond ourselves.” This is probably because, if we can see how others make our world a better place, so we’ll be more motivated to give something back. Here we arrive at altruism. There’s little question, at this point, that helping others is associated with a meaningful, purposeful life. It’s been found & established through the studies and also my personal experience, that people who engage in more altruistic behaviours, like volunteering or donating money or standing by the less privileged tend to have a greater sense of purpose in their lives.Interestingly, gratitude and altruism seem to work together to generate meaning and purpose. In a second experiment, the researchers randomly assigned some participants to write letters of gratitude—and those people later reported a stronger sense of purpose. colleagues found

It’s not About Passion Its About Purpose in Life that Matters !!
We've heard the advice, “just follow your passion” again and again as a cure to life’s problems and now it’s louder than ever beforeWhat is in it for me? I need to be passionate about my job, and if it doesn’t meet my expectations, then I’ll move on to something else… This pleasure-seeking approach to life is popular right now.Since Passion is inwardly & about self it is driven by energy and emotion its likely to be “subjective well-being,” so chasing passion, in other words, tends to make you less satisfied at work because -- no huge shocker here -- work is often difficult, draining, and even boring. So, are you doomed to simply take whatever job you can do that pays the bills? Nope, All you need to do is substitute "purpose" for "passion" when considering your path and ask yourself what you care deeply about. Like taking care of your parents, children’s or making someone’s life better or making sure orphans around doesn’t stay hungry etc… By focusing on purpose, you align your work with your deepest values, and also relieve yourself of the expectation that the long slog of a career will be all (or even mostly) happiness and sunshine.Purpose is outwardly focused on the greater impact we can have on others and on our surroundings. I equate Purpose with meaningful or meaningfulness, which is derived from giving to other people or making life’s better; Purpose or meaningfulness involves thinking more about the past, present, and future—and the relationship between them. So it is associated with a solid reason/s, that’s a very strong why factor which gives us the Grit, the Determination & the Perseverance to effortlessly navigate through .. So where passion is driven by energy and emotion, purpose is driven by reason which gives you the resilience to succeed . Ultimately, the latter is more likely to make us successfulI will leave you with this Mantra today…to encourage me to come up new such Mantras, please follow me @thefridayfoster on FB, Instagram & Twitter & keep listening to my show….!! Don’t beat yourself too Hard – Let Go & Move On !!
Welcome to 3MM the 3 Minute Mantra !!Today’s topic is – Don’t beat yourself too much “We’re all our own worst critics.” Ever heard this line before?Yes, it’s an obnoxious cliché…our natural “negativity bias,” In other words: which is that instinct in us all that makes negative experiences seem more significant than they really are & we start continually criticizing ourselvesWhen Self-criticism take a toll on our minds, we get caught up in self-referential thinking — the type that happens with rumination, worry, guilt or self-judgment — it activates self-referential brain networks and shove us into – what I call shame Spiral ! This can lead to ruminative thoughts that can have measurably destructive effects which can develop into depression, anxiety, substance abuse, negative self-image and, in a particularly decreased motivation and productivity and finally leaves people to becoming preoccupied with failure. But that’s not the end of the story. There are ways around our negativity bias, and it is possible to turn self-criticism into opportunities for learning and personal growth. So it’s perfectly okie to make mistakes & everybody makes one because nobody is perfect in this world…and that’s what makes our life interesting, adventures & leaves us with the hope for new beginning every day to explore new dimensions, new learnings otherwise we become robots and which WE ARE NOT !! Don’t beat yourself too much, Let Go & Move On !!Especially in this difficult times when we are vulnerable to circumstantial gravity !! I will leave you with this Mantra today…to encourage me to come up new such Mantras, please follow me @thefridayfoster on FB, Instagram & Twitter & keep listening to my show….!! I will come back with another life Mantra tomorrow…till then take care & ba bye

Listen to Respond & not Hear to Reply !!
Today’s topic is – Listen to Respond !! You know the biggest problem with communication is we hear to reply and not listen to understand & respond. Sounds strange? But that’s the truth !In 2006, Dr. Ralph Nichols (who established the first study in the field of listening nearly 40 years ago) calculated we spend 40 percent of our day listening to others, but retain just 25 percent of what we hear. By 2011, sound expert Julian Treasure, in his TED talk "5 Ways To Listen Better," found in his research that we now spent as much as 60 percent of our day listening to others, perhaps because ‘it's a louder and louder world.’Studies have found that, there is a lag between what we hear and what we understand depending upon the person. This lag could be between 5 and 60 seconds depending on our physical and emotional state. And the trouble starts in this lag-time, where we get distracted by our own thoughts and opinions, which is known as confirmation bias or have the tendency to pick out facts or aspects of a conversation that support our pre-existing beliefs, values or perceptions. In other words, we ultimately only listen for what we want to hear. As a result, our comprehension tumbles.‘In order to understand what another person is saying, we have to assume that he or she might be true and try to imagine or analyse what it could be true of.’ But we apply the reverse principle here which is our mode of competitive listening. We hear something and have a negative reaction, because we believe we are always right & the other person is always wrong. So here our Listening stops, and communications breaks down.Believe me, it’s perfectly OK to disagree with someone, but let’s be more empathetic while listening and not slip into confirmation bias & competitive listening mode with our prejudgmentsSO LETS - LISTEN to RESPOND & not HEAR to REPLY !!I will leave you with this Mantra today…to encourage me to come up new such Mantras, please follow me @thefridayfoster on FB,Instagram & Twitter & keep listening to my show….!! Much appreciate your honest reviews & comments and I truly draw energy from those feedbacks to come back with more & more life hacks which adds value to your journey

Focus is the most Important thing !
What is the most important – is it time or focus? My mentor used to say Focus is the most important thing. Yes, it is…I also say this with full conviction today because I have been experiencing it myself on a daily basisYou know when Dronacharya asked his students what they could see & aim in the opposite side of the gurukul, everyone else came up with their versions of what they could aim at & with multiple choices but Arjuna said I can only see the eyes of the bird to aim…such was his focus & that’s why he is the master of archery !!So when we approach an activity with such clarity & laser precision focus & concentration, we can achieve the same amount results is minutes for which we otherwise spend hours & hours when we are not concentrating & getting disturbed, diverted by the other factors around…so when approach things with focus & concentration it saves time for us you & now we have the time to do something more & plan for something else as well So Focus is the more Important thing !! And am sure you will also witness & realise this phenomena soon, when you start adopting this Mantra in your activities Now I will leave you with this Mantra today…to encourage me to come up new such Mantras, please follow me @thefridayfoster on FB, Instagram & Twitter & keep listening to my show….!! Appreciate your honest reviews & Comments !! I draw energy from this, and this will help me to come up with more topics of Self Development
