TFE 001: Welcome To The Fantasy Elite Podcast
In this episode I will talk about what the Impostor Syndrome is and how I overcame it. I will then give my thoughts on the fantasy advice industry and what I feel is the most important part of fantasy football preparation. To wrap up I will discuss my mindset early on in the fantasy football season and most importantly my 3-Week Rule. Impostor Syndrome (1:00) The impostor syndrome is something that I learned about as I researched how to create a podcast. I was listening to Cliff Ravenscraft Podcast Answer Man Podcast and he talked about the Impostor Syndrome in episode 364 (link below). The Impostor Syndrome is a mindset that many people get when trying something new. Just as you are going to share your message or talent with the world, you second guess your place in that niche. The question you would often ask your self is, "Why am I qualified to give this information?" or "Why would anyone want to listen to what I have to say? There are many people doing the same thing I am doing." I had been fighting this for a very long time. I did not think I was qualified to give my thoughts and analysis of fantasy sports. The true meaning of an impostor is someone who tries to appear as something or someone that they are not. What I realized is I was not trying to deceive anyone about my qualifications or worthiness. I simply had a passion for fantasy sports and wanted to share my thoughts and opinions. I do hours of research every week and know that it could benefit others who do not have the time or may not think the same way. Ultimately I am the furthest thing from an impostor and this is what helped me get over the hill and finally post episode 1. I will not be perfect but I can promise you the podcast and content will get better. Everything that is shared in the podcast and TheFantasyElite.com are things I am using for my own teams and reflective of the hours of research I put in on a weekly basis. My Thoughts on the Fantasy Advice Industry (6:05) With so may outlets for fantasy advice and information, fantasy owners face a severe amount of information overload. Not only is there an abundance of information, there are also countless types of leagues in which rosters and scoring systems vary. It is impossible to create a set of rankings that will fit each and every type of league. This makes it very hard to judge the relevance of rankings to each league and scoring system you may have.
