Seeking Knowledge & Wisdom
Welcome to another episode of the DJ Doran Show. This week we welcome Chris Burcher of the "Knowledge + Wisdom = Experience" Podcast. Chris draws on his eclectic life experiences to build  interesting perspectives through logic, reason, and reflection. In this episode you'll hear DJ and Chris discuss a wide variety of topics including truth, wisdom, communication, and overall human connection. More about Chris:I am a free thinking naval gazer. Like a lot of people I am curious and ponder life’s big questions. I am most interested in learning about my roles as husband, father (of 4 daughters), son, brother, and friend. I also strive to improve my role in my community. My life experience and perspective has given me a distinct outlook I would like to nurture and modify by connecting through podcasts and video communications. I am comfortable drawing my own conclusions (through knowledge and experience!) about the world around me but I do so as constrained by things I have learned in the past that (largely) no longer work.Chris's Work:WebsiteYoutube ChannelInstagramSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/DJDORANSHOW?fan_landing=true)

Community Connections: Steve Foster
We had the pleasure to sit down with Steve Foster (virtually) and learn about his life, his acting career, and his commitment to helping his community. Between acting, media & communications, being a Chaplain; Steve is an incredibly busy person but has many great stories from all of these experiences. In this episode we learn about Steve's life, his time as a Chaplain, and the concept of "Choosing your hard." One of the biggest takeaways from this conversation for us was when Steve brought up the concept of “Choose your hard.” This sounds rather simple at first but the sentiment is profound. In short, every choice we make has a series of difficulties that follows. Leaving is hard, staying is hard, choose your hard. The statement calls for us to be present in all of our decisions because if you’re really paying attention, there are challenges everywhere we look. This could go in conjunction with the concept of “The grass is always greener,” in that people tend to look over the fence and long for the ‘other” option because it may appear to be easier, or greener. At the end of the day, we must make choices, and it is better to face what we’ve chosen for better or for worse and live in the moment while being present for the situation we are in. We've had a wonderful time connecting with so many local Chicagoans over the past few months. If you know of anyone who you'd think would be a great fit for the show please reach out to us! Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/DJDORANSHOW?fan_landing=true)

Kyle joined us for two previous shows regarding the great COVID debacle but this week's episode is more in his wheelhouse as we discuss all things law enforcement assessment. The show is broken into three main parts: the process of becoming a police officer, on-the-job assessment, and fitness for duty evaluations following an incident. This show is not meant to criticize any one position or another regarding law enforcement. Rather, we hope to offer an alternative perspective on some information that is in the Zeitgeist of Americans amid recent events. As always we challenge our audience to read beyond the headlines, ask questions, and seek the Truth in all things.
