Episode 575: That Reflicktion You Do!
It's Springtime and it's movie time, and its ReFlicktions time! Once a month the guys come together to discuss... or "ReFlick'ed" if you will... the movies they've seen in the last several weeks. Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl each have a handful of films both in theaters ("65!") and streaming ("Pit Fighter"!) and new ("Creed III"!) and old ("Bad Influence"!) and even another Bond in d$'s ongoing Bond Watch.   But sometimes, you need an extra voice to add to the conversation, so we welcome back to the show, Steve "The Voice" Glosson!  Everyone loved "Jesus Revolution", the reaction was mixed on "Cocaine Bear", Mikey has        Jesus Revolution (in theaters) Cocaine Bear (in theaters) Accident Man (Amazon Prime) Black Mask 2: City of Masks (TubiTV) Pit Fighter (TubiTV) The Tournament (TubiTV) Ant-Man QuantaMania (in theaters) From Russia with Love (Paramount+; MGM+) Women Talking (for rental) Creed III (in theaters) Mission Impossible series Bad Influence (TubiTV) Shazam! Episode 574: A Veritable Smorgasbord of Best Picture Nominees
As the Oscar season finally closes, the Deucecast trio - Mikey, d$, #TwitterlessDrEarl - pulls in one more Oscar topic: Best Pictures!   But not any Best Pictures... nay, says the horse, oh Neigh! We discard the Best Picture winners (because seriously, we are tired of talking about how crappy Griding Nemo) and go straight for the Nominees! First up, Birthday movies return, including the birthdays of The Dude... Tom Selleck going to China... Amy Adams daily living... and how terrible movies are in March - oh, and Templeton. The rat. Then, a quick round of Razzie Award themed Rotten Tomatoes (including a dominant performance that actually was on the up n up. by the way), and finally, the guys scan the scope of the 2000s and look at all the non-winning Best Picture nominees, and give their faves!  Plus, keep listening for a quick review of ScreaVI and other frivolity.

Episode 573: The Supporting Actor Tourney
What better way to follow up one heck of a Oscar role tournament than to do one more, this time with Supporting Actors and Supporting Actresses... and as you'll find out, with not quite enough to fill the bracket, a little creativity was used... Either way, where else can you get the likes of Maria Von Trapp going up against The Graduate's Mrs Robinson or Rita Moreno taking on Marisa Tomei in an epic legendary role battle.  Only at the Deucecast Movie Show, that's right. And to do take on such a task, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl have to bring in a little help - that comes in the shape of Roth from Wyoming, host of the Good Day 4 a Movie Podcast... and then another little surprise joins in to break the ties and give a Commodus style thumbs up or thumbs down.

Episode 572: The Oscar Winners Tourney
In the midst of the Oscar season, the SAG Awards, the PGA Awards, the BAFTAs, the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, and of course, The Deucies, we mustn't lose sight of the fact that we are still filling the Big Bracket with names and memorable, ICONIC, movie roles -- so what better way to merge  the award season into the Big Bracket with an Oscar Winner Tourney. And to help decide this all important winner -- Lil G, the Spawn of Scotty Ryfun, joins Mike and d$ while #TwitterlessDrEarl is on assignment in Nova Scotia.  Sixteen Oscar winning actresses -- only roles that won the golden statue, not just nominated, because if you're not first, you're last -- on one side, and 16 Oscar winning actors on the other. Tonight's ep involves some incredible actresses -- Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain hope that being recent winners will cement their own legacy in the voters eyes, while Hollywood royalty like Vivian Leigh and Audrey Hepburn hope that multiple generations of stardom will put them through.  Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch strides through the courtroom of Bracket Opinion, while Daniel Plainview drinks your Big Bracket Milkshake.  Some actresses appear twice, some movies get multiple shots at glory, and for some roles, this might be their only chance to move forward.  And who knew that Mikey hated Gladiator so doggone much?

Episode 571: ReFlicktionmania!! (and the Deucie Nominations!!)
The award season has almost hit it's peak, but of course, the Oscars are only the penultimate ceremony in recognizing the year's best in film -- there is the Deucie Awards... the 10th annual Deucies, as a matter of fact! And to give those out, we must first announce who is in the running -- so tonight, you'll get those nominations revealed to you! And of course, it's the ReFlicktions ep, where Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl reflickt on the films they've seen... the old films (when man is the most dangerous prey... in the 30s) to the new (its Quantumania time!) and all in between. While Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl are looking in years previous to find the movies watch, Mikey draws a line in the sand and refused to talk much about anything not 2023 because... because Mikey. Here it all for yourself as we talk about: A Man Called Otto (theaters) Aftersun (for rental) Losin’ It (Peacock Premium; TubiTV) Decision to Leave (for rental) All Quiet on the Western Front (Netflix) The Most Dangerous Game (1932) (Amazon Prime; HBO Max; Paramount+; MGM+) DePalma (HBO Max) PLANE (theaters) The Sound of 007 (Amazon Prime) The Package (Starz; TubiTV) The Pez Outlaw (Netflix) Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (HBO Max) Women Talking (In theaters) Amber: The Girl Behind the Alert (Peacock Premium) John Wick (Peacock Premium) Triangle of Sadness (for rental) Call Me Miss Cleo (HBO Max) Living (in theaters) Knock at the Cabin (in theaters) Something from Tiffany’s (Amazon Prime) Tar (Peacock Premium) Sick (Peacock Premium) Ticket to Paradise (Peacock Premium) The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (Netflix) Argentina, 1985 (Amazon Prime) You People (Netflix) The Banshees of Inisherin (HBO Max) Fire of Love (Disney+) Somebody I Used to Know (Amazon Prime) DC League of Super-Pets (HBO Max) Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (Netflix) Your Place or Mine (Netflix) Breaking (Showtime) Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania (in theaters) Sharper (AppleTV+) The Woman King (Netflix)

Episode 570: Fave Romantic Action Couples
It's the annual Valentine's Day celebration, and in typical Deucecast Fashion, we're doing it the day after, when everything is on sale. But first -- the guys take a look at a few of the actresses nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, in a round of Love / Like / Hate / Hate-Like.   Then... some Classic Bogie and Baby Drivers and Terminators and flying Harrier Jets and recent blockbusters and old school Robin Hoods and much more.   Finally, The Burgeler himself, Jeremy Burgess joins the show for a segment to not only rank Burgentine's Day 2023, but also to give his own quick Top Five Romantic Action flicks.   And stick around for the stinger, with some quick reactions on the Super Bowl movie trailers!

Deucecast Extra: Gunn's DC Plans & The Bad Batch
In an extra ep from The Deucecast - mostly in part because d$ is currently on a boat in the Caribbean Sea, but also because #TwitterlessDrEarl just wanted a day off, and Mikey didn't feel like recording on a Tuesday morning. But either way, it's an audio experience of the Deucecast Extra on the YouTube Channel, this time all about James Gunn's speech concerning the future of DC films. Plus Rhett is here to say things like "The majority of the population are morons.

Episode 569: Who Won (and lost) 2022?
The new year has begun, winter is crashing around us, and it's time to reflect on what made our moviedom in the last year... and for the second time, we ask, Who Won the Year?  And maybe for the first time, because we can't remember, we ask Who Also Lost the Year?   First up, a few quick reviews -- "Living", as seen by Dr Earl, "Aftersun" as seen by Mikey and Dr. Earl, and "Women Talking", as seen by Mikey and Dave... and those Oscar nominated films lead into the discussion of the recent Oscar nominations, with Mikey going all in on Top Gun Maverick... Dave making a case for Everything Everywhere All At Once... and Dr Earl chiming in with pretention. Then, a top five of the winners and the losers... how can Margot Robbie be both?  And Tom Hanks down year, with Tom Cruise's amazing year... who won the animation game... big time directors taking a hit, but big time blockbusters becoming a hit... too much Korg, just enough Jimmy Cam, and not enough Hong Chau. Of course, the usual rabbit trails of random conversation.

Episode 566: The Way of the ReFlicktions (Part 1)
Every January, the Deucecast trio jumps into ReFlicktions after what is likely a 6-7 week break from ReFlickting movies... and that means a mondo sized ReFlicktions episode - but for your listening pleasure... ...and because not only is Mikey leaving town for the weekend, but d$ has weekend commitments as well, the 2.5 hour episode is now going to be 2 episodes! First... the last vestiges of Christmas cinema, with horror Santas and returns to Indiana and Dickens and England. Then, diving into the non-holiday stuff, #TwitterlessDrEarl gets pretentions with Inerratu and classic with Bing... d$ discusses the controversy on Strange World... Mikey hates Criminals named Emily but loves blue Na'vi... and a movie that we all forgot - Memory. Check out the films we discussed on the episode (and where they are streaming) and come back next week for the likes of Glass Onion, new Baumbach, Will Smith's new slave epic, Brendan Fraser's comeback and a long discussion on the merits (and debauchery) of Babylon.   Violent Night (in rental) A Christmas Story Christmas (HBO Max) Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (Netflix) Your Christmas or Mine (Amazon Prime) The Man Who Invented Christmas (Starz) Christmas with the Campbells (AMC+) The People We Hate at the Wedding (Amazon Prime) The Santa Clause (Disney+) Christmas Bloody Christmas (Shudder; AMC+) Strange World (Disney+) Holiday Inn (for rental) It’s a Wonderful Binge (Hulu) Emily the Criminal (Netflix) SR (Netflix) Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules (Disney+) Memory (Amazon Prime) Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (Netflix) Blood Relatives (Shudder; AMC+) Don’t Make Me Go (Amazon Prime) Avatar: The Way of Water (in theaters)

Episode 565: 2022 Surprise and Delights
And every year, Friend of the Show, Miss Independent Jeremy Burgess joins up for the episode, giving his own surprises and delights.     First up, Burgess is assigned his annual Burgentine's Day -- sure, it's early, but Home Goods had V-Day stuff up before Christmas, so we feel okay about this.  Then, the guys jump right into their Top 5 films that they went into unsure about, perhaps with little to no expectations... and came out of surprised at how delighted they found the movies... and delighted at the surprise of how delightful it was. Or something.  And they even dig a little into Oscar odds... some newer horror gets lots of love on the show... a little hot Brendan Fraser talk... some Austin Butler chatter... Michael's Baygasm... and even get a little Shakespearean. Sort of. Episode 564: The 2022 Lumps of Coal
Like the Masters, its a tradition unlike any other... the Annual Lumps of Coal episode. Out of the dozens of films The Deucecast Movie Show loved, out of the hundreds of movies the Deucecast Movie Show liked... there are a handful of movies -- or in #TwitterlessDrEarl's case, tropes, patterns, directors and the like -- that just didn't land... or maybe landed with a crash and burn in a bad way.   Hopping straight to it, the guys rail on how hard it is to muck up a great cast and make a terrible movie (yet Hollywood finds a way)... when the crimes of the future becomes a crime in making a film in the present... when Jessica Chastain tries 355, but delivers a Zero... when Benaffleck Ana de Armes' his marriage... the Jim Cameron movie that won't end... and Zac Efron flames out big time. Plus, this year's winner of "The Movie that Broke Mikey". Films discussed in this week's episode, and where to find them at the time of recording:   Avatar Way of Water (in theaters) Blacklight (Amazon Prime; Paramount+; EPIX) Crimes of the Future (Hulu) Deep Water (Hulu) Firestarter (Amazon Prime) Men (for rental) Moonfall (HBO Max) Morbius (Netflix) Multiverse (Hulu) Quantum Cowboys (unavailable for streaming) Robert Zemeckis' Pinocchio (Disney+) Serena (Hoopla; Kanopy) The 355 (Amazon Prime) Thor Love & Thunder (Disney+) Walking Tall: The Payback (TubiTV)

Episode 562: Have Yourself a Kaufman Little Christmas
The Christmas season is in full swing, with our series of Christmas episodes finally set to begin -- big props to Aussie Nate, Roth from Wyoming, and Lil G for hosting last week... But the real losers are back in the saddle, with Mikey and d$ taking control again -- #TwitterlessDrEarl off on assignment doing Doctors with Some Borders (because he's pretentious) It's becoming an annual tradition - one that we find out isn't as old as we thought, but still will be from here anyway - and that is bringing former Delightful Life podcast host and Disney Nerds podcast co-host and sort of blogger and avid hockey fan and mom of 3-7, though we aren't sure, and the greatest voice on our show, one Jennifer Kaufman! A little bit of chit chat and catching up -- including the movies she's seen, like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Mikey's review of "Christmas Bloody Christmas" and d$'s take on "Violent Night" -- they dive into a jolly round of Dylan McDermott Mulroney, starring Candace, Danica, and Lacey!  Then the Top Five of the Week... the trio's fave non-Christmas movies to watch at Christmas, with some films possibly being a Christmas movie, some films having parts of Christmas in it, and some having nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever. Plus, the incredible career of Shane Black... the graduation of Young Garrison Ryfun... fantasy movies in the holidays... and much more!

Episode 561: 3 Podcast Men (the guest host show)
While Mikey has missed maybe 2 episodes, and d$ has missed maybe 3 eps, and #TwitterlessDrEarl has only been a regular for the last few hundred eps, now for the first time in almost 12 years and 560 episodes, neither Mikey nor d$ nor #TwitterlessDrEarl are on the show itself. Instead, three show icons, three show legends, three show fan favorites, three show regulars take over the show... Aussie Nate, Spawn of Ryfun, aka, Lil G, and Roth from Wyoming pick up the reigns as the regular guys are out of action for the week (re: d$ is in Orlando and Mikey is watching movies and #TwitterlessDrEarl just likes the weekend off) and after firing off a quick round of Rotten Tomatoes, they dive right into Top Five Recasted Characters.   From a super spy to a dark knight to a space smuggler to Old Kris Kringle himself, Lil G, Aussie, and Roth serve up their fave characters that were redone even better. Also, Garrison has never seen Christmas Vacation, and hates Ernest movies, so he will likely not ever be asked back. Here are movies listed and discussed, and where to find them at the time of recording:   Batman Forever (the one with Val, but not the nipple suit) - HBO Max Becoming Bond - Hulu Casino Royale - Netflix Clear and Present Danger (1994) - Netflix; Paramount+ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - HBO Max Hercules - Disney+ Miracle on 34th Street (1947) - Amazon Prime; Disney+; Peacock Premium Miracle on 34th Street (1994) - Disney+  National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - HBO Max Ocean's Eleven (1960) - for rental Ocean's Eleven (2001) - for rental On Her Majesty's Secret Service - for rental Paddington - Netflix Paddington 2 - HBO Max Patriot Games (1992) - Amazon Prime; Paramount+; EPIX Solo: A Star Wars Story - Disney+ Spider-Man: Homecoming - STARZ; STARZ in Teens Bitten By Spiders & Gaining Extraordinary Powers Star Trek (2009) - Netflix; Paramount+ Tomb Raider - for rental 12 Angry Men (1957 version) - TubiTV 12 Angry Men (1997 version) - TubiTV X-Men Origins: Wolverine - STARZ; STARZ in Mutant

And to regale our 11th months gone by, Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl brings in a familiar face, one not seen in a bit -- Dave's Main Street Electrical Podcast co-star Jenn Novotny!  She joins the dudes to discuss their top fives.
