Dr. Russell Shapiro is a Professor of Geology and expert Paleontologist who currently teaches at California State University, Chico. He has worked extensively with NASA on the 2020 Mars mission, which recently landed and completed surface samples in the search for potential evidence of past/present life. Dr. Tissot is a professor of marine ecology and director of the Marine research lab at Humbolt State University. Jim discusses his upbringing in the restaurant / diner business, and how he used a twenty thousand dollar investment to start his first solo venture. Along the way Jim owned and sold multiple restaurants, a night club, running shoe store and dabbled in Bay Area real estate. He lost it all in 2008, but has recovered stronger than ever. 

Ken's father-in-law, Scott Maeda, joins him for a recap of the climate conversation with Ph.D. Patrick Brown. Patrick Brown is a Ph.D. climate scientist and an assistant professor in the Department of Meteorology & Climate Science at San Jose State University where he teaches and conducts research on weather and climate and their interactions with society. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke University in Earth and Ocean Sciences, a Master's degree from the department he is now a faculty member in, and a Bachelors's degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. He has also conducted research at the Carnegie Institution at Stanford University, NASA JPL at Caltech, NASA Langley in Virginia, NASA Goddard in Washington DC, and NOAA’s GFDL at Princeton University. He has published peer-reviewed papers in Nature, PNAS, Nature Climate Change, as well as many other journals and his research has been highlighted in The Washington Post, Newsweek, The Huffington Post, The BBC and The Guardian among other places.
