DailyQ #68: What remote work habits will keep me productive? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
During a time where everyone is scattered into the wind, working from home, how do we hold it all together? Troy Hoffman draws similarities between managing remote workers and growing a garden. He describes how, like watering plants, you’ve also got to manage the bugs and snakes to produce beautiful flowers. At Simpluris, systems and training software were implemented early on so that anybody anywhere in the world can open up their computer to start learning what to do, when, and how to do it at a 3rd-grade level, using the training course. If you’ve just started transitioning, here’s what to do: Make sure there’s a documented system they can refer to, like a checklist or manual. Make sure everyone can share files and they have a clear system of daily tasks, and ways to hold everyone accountable. Do whatever you can to create a seamless transition from the office to their home, even if it means investing in laptops or monitors for them. Focus on those who are willing to work, serve, and do whatever it takes to help their company move forward. You’ve got to set up your environment and hold yourself accountable to your morning routine before work. Let those who choose to drown go, because there are others that need our help who are willing to do the work and grateful for the job. We are leaders, we are not saviors. These are uncertain times, so keep those around you that motivate you, and hold you accountable. Cast vision into them and move forward. DailyQ #67: How do you stay the course during the covid-19 crisis? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
Are you choosing to die or are you choosing to thrive? In this episode of The Daily Question, Troy Hoffman paints the picture of the current state in the world of business and entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing from his experiences in the past, and from what people are doing around him, he points out the key differences between those who are thriving and those left behind during these tough times. Where you stand depends on how you answer the questions below. Where are you at in your mindset? Are you focusing on the drama and the morbidity of the situation? OR Are you deciding to rise and be tenacious in your approach to find a path for your family? Who are you in conversation with or seeking counsel from? Are you in conversation with someone who sees only darkness and the world falling apart around him? OR Are you hanging around people who are seeking out the new opportunities that have come from this, and are encouraging each other, and strategizing together? Are you willing to have hope in things not seen and rise daily, not sleeping in, working diligently to adapt? The world will keep spinning on its axis. The sun will still rise and set. Those that are working diligently and prepared to seize the moment will win and survive. Those that sit around and smoke cigars, and talk about how crappy times are, won’t. What will you choose? DailyQ #66: How do I create a network of friends interested in entrepreneurship? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
Where do I find friends who are into motivation entrepreneurship and how do I create a network? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman gives his advice on how to build a core peer group. They say that you are the average of the people you surround yourself with. This here, folks, is a game-changer. There are four stages of learning: Unconsciously incompetent Consciously incompetent Unconsciously competent Consciously competent When you're unconsciously incompetent, you just don't know what you just don't know. When you are around a motivation group of people who are focused on constantly growing, they will expose to you the fact of just how much you do not know. And if you want to elevate your life, you have to get around these type of people. They will fire you up. The energy is contagious. I suggest you get into a group or mastermind of like-minded people with the same sixed business that you have. I do this and it is amazing how much I learn from other people sharing their experiences, their failure, their successes. You're gonna learn mindsets and skillsets that that'll for forever change your life. While you’re there, sit back and listen. There is a time to teach and a time to learn. The more you talk, the less you learn. We need to be exposed to things we don’t know. Literally start googling events and meetups in your area. If you’re out of the country, you may have to stick to an online connection, but in today’s world, there is always a way to connect. It’s a game changer. Make it happen. DailyQ #65: What should I do without a startup investment? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
I am a start-up and I don’t have the initial investment needed to start. What should I do? In this week’s episode of “The Daily Question,” Troy Hoffman gives his advice on a dilemma that almost every entrepreneur faces. A lot of the time, big ideas need big money to execute. Here’s Troy’s advice for you. I recently heard someone say something that I couldn’t agree with more. Every Fortune 500 company started with one person in one place doing one thing. Even Jeff Bezos started small and built his empire slowly. People start with nothing and build with nothing. When you believe in what you are doing, you will find a way. Start by doing what you can with what you’ve got. It doesn’t need to be perfect. Perfection is the enemy of execution. The first marketing material I could afford were business cards. The front side simply said, “Troy Hoffman” with the logo, address, and phone number. The back just had the logo. Do what you gotta do to make it happen! Live off the dollar menu if you have to. Don’t make excuses for your life. This is your opportunity to become someone. Real entrepreneurs are resourceful and hungry. They have a burning desire that keeps them up at night. Do whatever it takes to build your vision. What do you need to do to build your vision? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #64: What can I do to balance business life and relationships? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
What can I do to balance business life and relationships? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman confesses to not have yet been able to find the right balance in his life when it comes to successfully running a business and having successful relationships. Stay tuned for this truth-telling episode. I know how you feel. You take time off of work to be with that special someone. You are enjoying each other’s company, watching the sunset while having a nice glass of wine. But in the back of your mind you are thinking about the countless emails that are piling up., and the fires you will have to put out once back to reality. Honestly, this is an area of my life that I have not yet mastered. Yet, I do believe it is possible. I have seen many friends successfully balance their work and home lives. My brother also does it so well with his family and with work. I think part of it comes down to knowing what you really want. I am guilty of allowing my body to fall apart. I gave in to my cigarette cravings. I had fast food for dinner way too many times. It came to a point where I found myself unable to sustain enough energy to keep up with my business and with my relationships. But there are a few things I would change and will do better the next time around: prioritize my health and fitness meditate journal (writing clarifies thought) express gratitude The key to happiness is the relationships you build. I understand the importance of this and despite past failure, will continue my journey of ultimate success in every area of life. DailyQ #63: How do I stay energized throughout the day? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How do I stay energized throughout the day? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman is transparent about his struggles with balancing health and fitness in his busy life. In order to achieve the life you want to live, you MUST have the energy it takes to do the things you need to do. Listen up. Keeping on top of my health is something that I have struggled with for the last seven years. Being a chiropractor and neurologist’s son, this is pretty ironic. I would go to my father and ask, “Dad, I feel tired and sluggish all the time. How do I fix that?” His answer what pretty simple. You have to become the master of your own health. Part of our jobs as humans is to understand our own bodies. No two people are the same. Although there are countless doctors and nutritionists out there, they are not going to be able to tell you everything you need to know to gain optimal health. So, you’ve got to discover what works for you. Ask yourself: How much sleep do I need? How much water do I need to drink? What types of exercise should I focus on? Does my body function better on a vegetarian/vegan diet? Do I have any food allergies? No one program works the same for every person. Commit your life to learning about your health. Everything amazing that you want to manifest in your life comes from this amazing machine you were given called your body. The more energy you have, the better you feel, the better your relationships, the better your focus, the better leader you are. What is one thing you could start today that you know you need to do to increase your energy? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #62: What will happen if I fail and don’t get the result I want? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
What will happen if I fail and don’t get the result I want? Troy Hoffman talks about his view on an important topic. Failure has stopped countless amounts of people from achieving their dreams. If people looked at failure as a learning lesson, they could use it as a driving force to live the life they have always imagined. Failure is a gift. It teaches us so much. We fail, then we learn, then we fail and learn again. And we start stacking the learnings. Anytime we are doing something new, we are going to fail. It’s inevitable. Catch this. You WILL eventually get results if you don’t quit. Wake up everyday and keep going, do the work, and stay consistent. If you set a date to accomplish something, then the date arrives and you haven’t quite gotten there yet, it doesn’t matter if you failed as long as you gave it everything you can. Now, you can look back and say, “Here’s the results I got with the effort I put in. How do I improve?” Then you course correct again and again until you get your desired results. If you don’t give up, you’ll look back at the old you 10 years ago and be so proud of yourself. You will be living the life you created with hard work and perseverance. All because you chose not to quit. How has fear of failure gotten in the way of your success? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #61: What do you do when your friends and family don’t support your dreams? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
What do you do when your friends and family don’t support your dreams? Troy Hoffman gives his advice on what to do in the very possible situation of not having the support you thought you would get from loved ones when following your dreams. But a lot of the time, their reaction shouldn’t be taken at face value. Here’s why. You've got this passion inside of your heart. You've got this fire burning your belly that wants to give birth to something greater than what you are currently living in right now. But when you excitedly tell your loved ones the great news, they don’t seem as enthused as you. They try to talk you out of it. They give you a laundry list of why you shouldn’t get ahead of yourself, and to plan a life with more stability and certainty. Unfortunately, this is the crappy reality of chasing a dream and a vision that others cannot see. Sometimes, the people that love us are not going to understand us best. Unless someone has gone done a similar path themselves, all they can see is the mountain ahead that you have to climb. So funny enough, they’ll try to protect you from the hurt failure causes. Understanding this, and moving forward despite the lack of support, is how a majority of entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. You’ve got to cut out the noise. They are going to think you are crazy. It’s part of the process. If you can be armored with this knowledge from the beginning, you can save yourself a lot of heartache on your journey. DailyQ #56: How can I be more positive? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How can I be more positive? Troy Hoffman talks about the importance of positivity. Today, more than ever before, people around the world are lifting each other up and spreading the message of positivity. A life with a positive outlook and mindset will take you much further than a negative one will. The language we speak to ourselves and to others is so important. You see, we frame our world by the words that come out of our mouths. How are you framing the situations in your life? Come up with a mantra for your life. Repeat it to yourself and aloud throughout the day. Some examples are: I was built for success! I am destined for greatness! I will do whatever it takes to lead my people! I am willing to pay whatever price it takes to move this goal forward! I am the creator of my reality! Whatever you choose are YOUR mantra, be sure to put energy and emotion behind it. My personal favorites are, “I will do today what others won’t, so I can live today like others can’t,” and “I am built to become an empire and legacy leaver.” I started framing my world with these words in my first weeks of waiting tables. Repeating these powerful sayings over and over again throughout my journey has given me courage when I needed it most. Today, think about where you need to change your language to speak positivity into your life. Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #55: Is it better to develop a dedicated sales team or to have a revolving door? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
Is it better to develop a small dedicated sales team or to have a revolving door of hiring, recruiting, and training? Troy Hoffman gives his take on the sales team hiring process. Because there are many moving parts to this question, Troy helpfully offers his view on several different scenarios. The interesting thing about this question is that it really does depend on your business. Some companies would benefit from the revolving door metaphor because it needs tons of recruits to come in, make quick sales to close family and friends and then disappear. Because it honestly takes a while to develop new leads after that. On the other hand, some organizations are better off building an elite team of dedicated individuals, those of which you really take the time and money to invest in to make sure they thoroughly understand and master their skills. However, in some cases, there isn’t much money left over to retain people. So they MUST produce results! To find out which way your company should go, ask yourself these questions: What outcome are you seeking from your sales team? At what cost? At what result? In what timeframe? What is your budget? After listening to this episode, which route do you think would work best for your company? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #54: How do you deal with the daily pressures of life? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How do you deal with the daily pressures of life? Troy Hoffman touches on the imperative subject of mental health. This goes beyond running a business, although it is near impossible to be successful in this area when your mind, body, and spirit are not right. Troy speaks about how you can maintain your overall health in order to live the life you want and deserve. We are living in some really tough times. Every day, we are faced with challenges, negativity, crisis, and disaster. The problems just seem to stack up when you add in the inevitable personal issues that life takes us through. We all have battles that we are facing. If we haven’t built up a strong internal fortitude, getting through them will seem like an impossible feat. But I have great news - life doesn’t have to be this way. We've got to architect our life in a way where we live it daily so we can handle whatever pressure comes our way every single day. Here are some maintenance questions you can ask yourself in order to be ready for whatever life throws at you: Am I working out regularly? Am I eating healthy daily Am I consistently meditating? Am I doing my breathing exercises? Am I letting the important people in my life know how grateful I am for them? Am I pouring out joy and love? Am I keeping a gratitude list? Am I journaling daily? Am I learning/teaching something new every day? Whatever it is, when you are loving yourself and pouring love into the world, you are going to be less likely to allow yourself to slip into that abyss of depression or overwhelm or doubt. When you are contributing to the world, you feel good about yourself and you being to feel the power of growth fill your life. Progress equals happiness. Remember that. DailyQ #53: How do I develop more trust between my employees? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How do I develop more trust between my employees? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman speaks on the issue of trust. This subject is a huge issue in the workforce. And although the concept is simple, many people overlook the importance of this key characteristic. Trust is key in any relationship, whether it’s personal or work-related. Trust is simple. You follow through on your word. If you for some reason can’t, you immediately go to the person and apologize for failing them. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. However, trust is constantly being broken. This can be super damaging for an organization. I’ve heard of huge corporations losing millions of dollars over this issue. Lack of trust and follow-through has shut down many businesses. We have to look within ourselves to get to the core of the issue: Where in your life are you not exhibiting trust in your actions? Are you constantly late? Do you fail to keep your word? Do you do way too much bullshitting? As a leader, you must train people to trust you. Do this by following through on your word as often as possible. But you are human, and if something comes up, let you people know right away. Then reset your commitments and boundaries. People will follow your actions. So, as I asked earlier, where in your life are you not exhibiting trust in your actions? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. DailyQ #52: How can I get more accountability in my organization with my team? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How can I get more accountability in my organization with my team? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman touches on the subject of accountability, and the wonders it can do for not only your business, but also your life. Accountability is a terrific form of measurement. And we all know, whatever can be measured can always be improved. Accountability has transformed my life. It’s also done wonders for the growth of the company. You see, people aren’t machines. You can’t just program them to do specific actions like you would software. People have free will. They have different perceptions and ways of going about certain things. Accountability is something that is literally created every single day, over and over again. It takes time for the team to gain clarity of what result we’re striving for and what course of action is best to take. And it requires accountability to set up a framework and a system that everybody decides on to become that well-running machine. So, as a team we are constantly looking at the different aspects of accountability. We are constantly collecting data, doing reviews and surveys every month. This way, we can look at things from multiple levels and angles. It’s what makes us peak performers. Most importantly, as a leader, I've got to be accountable. I've got to constantly step up every day, keep showing up, keep grinding, keep pushing and making sure I'm performing at the highest level possible so I do not drop the ball. DailyQ #51: How do you stay focused? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
How do you stay focused? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman lets us in how he gets laser focused for maximum productivity. It takes a lot to run a successful business. Find out how Troy is able to make it all happen. I know I’m not the only one who constantly has tons of ideas coming at me, sometimes all at once. I’m always wanting to move things forward, then I’ll attend another seminar or read a new book and before you know it, I’m in information overload. This is when I determine where I need to focus my attention. I ask myself, “What’s the most logical next step moving forward?” Calendar blocking will seriously move the needle forward in this area of your life. You literally must spend your Sundays (or whatever day works best for you) getting clear on what it is that you want for your company. Ask yourself: What’s my next move? What’s going to get me sales? What is going to help the operations to run better? What is going to keep me healthy? Who am I going to delegate tasks and projects to? Another thing that helps me to stay focused is to energize and reenergize. If I notice myself getting bored, tired or my mind starts drifting off, I take a walk or talk to someone that I know will help charge me up again. It’s all about keeping that fire burning. Maintenance is key. At the end of your days and weeks, determine what did or did not work, and adjust accordingly. What routines or rituals help you to stay focused? DailyQ #49: What are the top three things a CEO must do? -- The DailyQ with Troy Hoffman
What are the top three things a CEO must do? In today’s episode of “The Daily Question,” Troy Hoffman breaks down how business owners can identify what area of their company they need to focus on. And it all comes down to these key points: What stage of growth is your company in? What type of company are you running? How many employees do you have? I get asked this question quite often in a few different ways. There is no cut-and-dry answer because every business is different and where focus points are constantly changing. In the beginning years of your business, there is going to be a lot of trial and error – sometimes expensive errors. And there will be a lot of apologies. There’s no way around it. It’s all part of the process. The three main categories people talk about are: Sales Operations Growth and Vision Get clear in these areas. Make a detailed 30, 60 and 90 day plan. Then take action! Measure you results, then course-correct as needed. Ask yourself, what area of your business needs to be focused right now for maximum growth? Now go and live your destiny! www.TroyHoffman.com Need answers? Submit a question to Troy here. Follow me on instagram for live updates and facebook to watch our live shows.
