EPISODE 004 | Under The Skin Analysis
In this episode of The (Soon to be Titled) Cachu/Ortega Podcast Extravaganza we talk about Johnathan Glazer's new film Under The Skin.
Under The Skin is, to say the least, beautifully minimalist. Using sparse language and striking imagery, the film somehow manages to comment on what it means to be human, or rather become human, and what it means to desperately want to connect with the people around you. The film is haunting and meditative- unsettling and uncanny.
Yet what I find to be most interesting about Under The Skin is that its ambiguity lends to multiple interpretations, each of which can be supported by the film or the text. In talking about the film, I learned that an individual can come up with their own conclusion about the film, and that conclusion may be entirely their own, but ultimately these individual interpretations will align with the films central themes of breaking away from apathy and connecting with your neighbors.
We enjoyed this movie. We hope you'll enjoy our discussion of Under The Skin.
