A Small Business During A Global Pandemic
It can be *ing hard to figure out how to keep a small business afloat in all the uncertainty and all the limitations that we are learning how to deal with in this new COVID-19 world. I think it is part of human nature to respond to the situation with fear. Uncertainty can be scary. It can cause us to question ourselves and our choices and to second guess every decision we make. So how do we stay positive with all the uncertainty?! For Jessica Brown, this pandemic has highly affected her event planning and balloon installations business, Frosting and Fringe. But despite having no idea what the future would hold, she was able to push through the uncertainty and figure out how to keep her business running in such a happy and inspiring way! Introducing Jessica Brown and the Doorbell Dash. Delivering balloon bouquets straight to your doorstep. In this episode, I was able to chat with Jessica about how she not only pivoted to balloon bouquet deliveries during the pandemic, but we also talked about her decision to start her business just after becoming a brand new mom, being in a mental place of positivity by seeing opportunities instead of barriers, and how Coronavirus life has shifted being a business owner and mom. Jessica gives us so much great insight into how she has been able to keep life moving forward! I hope you enjoy our chat! Three tips from Jessica to finding positivity: Find a moms group to check in with every day Find people who are going through the same thing as you Pick something to look forward to in the future Show Notes: classyandreal.com/podcast/episode12

Conquer Your Chaos
Raise your hand if you have found yourself saying, “This is just how it is right now,” more than once this week? As I am publishing the newest episode of the Classy and Real Show, we are on day 51 of being quarantined at home. For some of us, things are relatively the same either already home all day with the little ones or working from home in our own businesses. But for MANY of us, the past 50+ days have been full of life-altering shifts, changes of schedules, unprecedented demands from our jobs, and way too much time at home without escape from our families. If your life has been looking a little bit more like the second option, then this is the episode for you, Mama. In Episode 11 of the Classy and Real Show, I am chatting with fellow coach and podcaster, Shannon Bally host of the Pumpcast Podcast and Chaos Queens. Shannon helps moms who want to manage their time, set boundaries, and better themselves to adopt a mindset that will help them thrive. Shannon gives us some practical tips and mindset shifts to help us not just get through the chaos, but actually conquer it. Tip #1 – Find your Baseline Configuration. (9:28) Tip #2 – Set a timer and take baby steps. (23:32) Tip #3 – Pull inspiration from other women that are killing it. (27:56) Tip #4 - Stop pretending nothing is wrong and take the reins of your own life. (33:59) Show Notes: classyandreal.com/podcast/episode11

How to Get Your Shit Together
In this episode, I am opening up about my struggle to keep myself afloat balancing motherhood and my career. To be honest, my shit was a mess. It got to a point where I felt like it was just easier to give up and let it all go to hell rather than trying to put the pieces together again. In the true Classy and Real fashion, I am sharing all of this with you because I want other moms to know they are not alone in feeling a little desperate for a way out. I am giving you the six steps I took to get myself out of that shitty place of anxiety, overwhelm, and self-loathing. Recognize you have a problem. Give yourself grace. Decide what to do next. Make a plan. Honor your plan no matter what. Evaluate and make changes as you go. Show Notes:

What Dad Thinks
For this episode, I decided to interview two of the most amazing dads that I know. My boyfriend Charlie Means and one of our best friends Bruno DaRosa. I wanted to invite these two guys on the show to have an opportunity to get’s a Dad perspective on what they see their partners go through from the outside looking in. Throughout the past 9 episodes of the show, the GUILT we feel as moms has come up as a main topic in EVERY conversation, but in every instance, it has always been mom putting the guilt on herself. Not dad making her feel guilty, not the kids, just her (and sometimes the rest of society that hasn’t grown up yet). But I wanted moms to hear it from the mouths of dads. What do they see us struggling with in motherhood? How come it’s different for dads? I think you will be surprised by what they have to say! And also a little touched by how much they really admire the moms in their lives, especially their own baby mamas. In the episode, we re-cap three of my favorite episodes this season. Episode 6 How to Get it Done with Sheila Stinson; Episode 2 MomFriends and Why You Need Them with Angela DaRosa and Stephanie Rocha; and Episode 8 Life as a Stay-at-home Mom with Allison Valdez.

How to Survive as a SAHM
Who here is a stay-at-home Mama? I know I have a few in my crew. I see you, Mama. This episode is for you. Today I’m talking to my long-time friend, Ally Valdez, all about life as a stay-at-home mom and the truth about how hard and lonely it can become. As a former stay-at-home Mama, I totally get it. Some days are just too long, and nap times are too short. Some days you are surrounded by your tiny humans hanging on you all day long and somehow at the end of the day all you feel is extremely LONELY. And let’s not forget about all the mom guilt that is kind of intensified when taking care of your children and your home is technically your JOB. Because if there is one thing ALL moms across the board are incredibly skilled at, is making themselves feel immensely guilty no matter what they do. In this episode, we get into all of it: dealing with terrible two’s ALL DAY LONG relinquishing control when your significant other is home feeling guilty for wanting me time and simultaneously feeling lonely when you’re home all day with tiny humans for company we even talk about the financial choice of being a one-income family and the pressure that can lead to having perfect children and a spotless home This is my ode to you, all my stay-at home, Mamas. I see you. And YOU are NOT alone. You can find the Show Notes and Links from this episode at www.classyandreal.com/podcast/episode8

The Cause and Effect of Mom Guilt
This episode is a deep dive into the guilt we feel as moms. Do you ever wonder WHY you feel so guilty about everything you do as a mom? I know that as moms, we create a lot of that guilt ourselves. But Amber and I touch on the idea of being conditioned by society to feel guilty. And if that IS true, then what!? We are just two every-day moms chatting about the modern day psyche of a mom and societal norms that are imposed on us as women. Join us to chat about guilt around: Being too tired to play with your kids Not feeding them the way “they” say you should Sending your kid to school/daycare/summer camp or really anywhere where you are not the primary care giver Calling yourself “super mom” Getting your pre-baby body back To find the show notes and links from this episode, go to www.classyandreal.com/podcast/episode7

How to Get It Done
In this episode I chat with Sheila Stinson, Queen Mom of having it all together. We chat all about how she get’s her shit done and makes it look insanely easy to the rest of us lowly-hot-mess moms out there. But, wanna know her secret ingredient that I made her spill in this episode – lowering her OWN expectations of herself! Yup. That's it. Simple right?! Well, maybe not so much? Sheila and I really dive into setting our own expectations in this episode and I really hope our conversation can spark some ideas for you and how you can start to do this in your own life. Stop getting in your OWN way of just getting your shit done, Mamas! Don't forget to check the show notes at classyandreal.com/podcast/episode6 !

Mom Comparison and Knowing You're Not Alone
Every mom has experienced the “Mom Comparison”. It’s just a fact of the motherhood experience. In this episode, I am joined by Bridget Jett: new mom to a precious eight-month old girl and high school best friend. We dive into our own struggles with the endless comparison of ourselves to other moms and even our kids to other kids. Sometimes it feels like the cycle never ends. But maybe, just maybe … we don’t actually have to feel bad when we compare ourselves to others. Maybe we don’t have to make it actually mean anything negative about ourselves when we see another mom doing or accomplishing something we wish we could do. Maybe it’s just a normal part of the human experience to compare ourselves… Check out the complete show notes here: http://classyandreal.com/podcast/episode4

Mom Expectations and Self-Induced Stress
Show Notes! Oh-kay. So here’s the deal. This is the second episode that I recorded way back when I first started working on my podcast. [YAY to me for finally getting it out there!] I had an awesome conversation with Allison Carter of AllisonCarterCelebrates.com and the host of the Memories in Moments Podcast . She is a super successful Momprenuer who helps busy moms plan amazing parties without all the stress and without going way over budget. Not to mention, she is killing it out there. She has even been featured on Forbes AND Better Homes & Gardens! In this episode, we talk a bit about her business and why party planning is so important to her. Helping busy moms is pretty much her passion. But [just to be a little self-centered here], what I love about this conversation is hearing how much I’ve grown since we recorded back in November of last year. For one: my speaking skills. Oh my. Please excuse all the ‘likes’ and ‘ums’ from me. But more importantly, Allison calls me out right in the beginning. And I love it SO much. At the time, I was in the midst of planning Xavier’s first birthday party and I was insanely stressed out. I wanted that party to be the most perfect and amazing party ever. I wanted to rent an awesome venue and have Instagram-blogger-worthy photos with super elaborate and unique decorations. It was absolutely ridiculous. I cringe now whenever I look at that Pinterest board I created pre-recording this conversation. But I am so happy I recorded this episode when I did. It was just what I needed at that time: someone to tell me that I was creating so much unnecessary stress for myself. I was building that party up to be way more than it needed. It was my son’s FIRST BIRTHDAY; not the damn Grammy’s. I really don’t know what I was trying to accomplish or trying to prove. But this conversation really helped me put the breaks on my craziness and take the time to not only enjoy the process of planning Xavier’s birthday, but also take time to enjoy the actual party rather than obsession over it being perfect. Even if you aren’t in the process of planning your little one’s party right now, this episode is a great reminder of how us mamas can sometimes be the cause of our own stress and sometimes create unnecessary expectations for ourselves. If there is one thing I learned from Allison, it’s that you should just do you, Mama. The rest will come together. Episode Links!Allison Carter can be found in all these amazing places! Momfriends and Why We All Need Them
In this episode I am chatting with my best momfriends to talk all about why momfriends are amazing, life-saving, angels that every mom needs in motherhood. Whether it’s having someone to chat with about your baby’s milestones, having extra snacks when your kid finished all of yours and still wants more, on those days home with the kids when you need to talk to an adult, or your having the worst morning where everything just seems to be going horribly wrong, momfriends can make a WORLD of difference.
