Scripture repeatedly says that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Being proud to be an American is like being proud to be six foot tall, something that just happened. Nationalism aligns you with the kingdom of this world to the exclusion of others. How can we reach and save the lost if our beliefs are divisive and exclude many groups of people? God called us to be a light to the nations and to spread the gospel to the whole world, including those in other countries and across political lines. The Lord told the Israelites that the nations blasphemed His name because of their insular actions. If you shared the gospel with someone and they saw your divisive Facebook posts, what impact do you think that will have? In the "R" Word episodes we discussed Matthew Chapter 3. In this episode we continue in the Gospel of Matthew with Chapter 4: 1-11. What sustains you throughout the day? How do we wage spiritual warfare and resist the devil? These are all topics we cover in this episode and we show using scripture exactly how God set the example for us to follow. By the end of this episode you will have many compelling reasons why scripture is not only beneficial but necessary for your survival as a Christian. 

In this episode we continue the discussion about repentance as we go through Matthew 3: 9-17. A repentant heart results in a change of one's behavior and actions. We discuss how this looks in real life and how you can know whether you really are repentant or not. Repentance leads you away from enmity and disobedience to God and towards friendship and obedience to Him. In fact, the first sermon Jesus ever preached was repent and be baptized. We define what repentance means, how to repent, and what it looks like practically in our everyday lives as we discuss Matthew 3:1-8. Welcome to Season Two of Christians Succ! We began this journey almost 5 months ago. In that time, God has given us a greater revelation of His message and the direction He wants us to head in. That's why we thought we should separate our older episodes from our newer ones, because we have just entered a new season with God. In this episode we discuss the original message God gave us and then how He expanded His revelation when we came to Lawrence after a month of testing. The third and final installment to the God is...(Love) Series! There will be more series to come in the future like God is...(An All Consuming Fire) or (A Jealous God). However, in this episode Whitney and I debunk the myth that "God loves me no matter what" or more specifically no matter what I do.
