Let's Talk - Leadership in a Crisis
A CEO, MD or Owner can make or break a #business - especially in difficult times. Whilst every #Director has their own foibles and habits I’ve noticed that during periods of #downturn, they tend to fall into one of three categories:1.The Doom and Gloom MerchantThey constantly talk about worst-case scenarios, recessions, overheads and ‘downward trends’ - all without changing gears, being proactive, or even reactive! They don’t take time to motivate staff to turn challenges into opportunities, They wait, and they hope.2.The Same Old Same OldIn times of crisis, they retreat to business-as-usual, returning to the same old things that have been done before. There’s nothing wrong with a proven strategy - the problems begin when the same strategy is used repeatedly without positive results.3.The Acknowledge, Adapt, ActionIn times of crisis, great leaders have already hit the boardroom and re-set business plans, targets and strategy to combat the oncoming unknown. These are the most effective when things are most challenging.Tough times bring out true character.
