Local Search Marketing
Local Search Marketing will become a vital component for promoting local businesses- the problem is that most business owners are not fully aware of the geo targeted search opportunity or how to grasp it. This video sets out some of the changes that are taking place and some of the services I offer to take advantage of them:The video gives stastics relating to internet usage and the number of geo-targeted searches that are taking place to find products and services from local suppliers. I discuss the importance of page one placement and placement of content on the page. The next frontier is mobile phone marketing, with the number of mobile phones greatly out-numbering the number of PC's and laptop computers with access to the internet. Prospects are increasingly using web-enabled phones to find solutions to their problems and communicating through text messages which have a 95% open rate. Testimonials or citations are increasing in importance online. Managing and monitoring your business reputation online will also be increasingly important because prospective customers will listen to recommendations from others - particularly if they are friends. Social proof supporting your product or service will greatly increase sales conversions. The video briefly discusses a system for gathering citations relating to your business and posting these online. Business owners are facing an enormous problem online as most do not know how to compete with their larger competitors online. However, through careful selection of keywords and geo-targeting, it is possible to compete effectively provided that you know what you are doing. It is not sufficient to just put up a website. You need to ask yourself how your customers and prospects will find your website and have a strategy for driving traffic to the website. Once visitors arrive at your website how effectively does your website educate your visitor about your products and services and how likely will the visit convert to a lead. Do you have a compelling offer and a call to action? Are you able to generate leads if that is the primary purpose of your website? It probably ought to be if you once consider that it generally takes at least 7 points of contact with a prospect before they buy. This means that you need to have some strategy for following up if you are going to maximise the return from your website traffic. One thing is for certain and that is that the internet is continually changing. To

Ten Things I Learned From Bill Porter Review
'Ten Things I Learned From Bill Porter' by Shelly Brady is a book that I have just finished reading. I picked it up randomly in the bookshop whilst I had my Christmas book vouchers burning a hole in my pocket. The book is essentially a short biography of Bill Porter, a door to door salesman. Nothing remarkable about that until you know two things about him:Bill suffers from cerebral palsey Bill was the top salesman for his company.Shelly was Bill's assistant for 22 years and saw at first hand what made him successful. The titles of the chapters summarise the content of this inspirational book:Follow your passion (- Bill's passion is selling) It doesn't matter how you got here, only where you are going Mother knows best Persistence pays off Don't take 'No' for an answer Know your limits and reach beyond them Be a team player If it isn't broken don't fix it There are no obstacles Live your valuesHere is a short video with some snippets from this book:There are two over-riding impressions that the book left me with. The clue to the first is in the chapter titles - Bill's ability to keep going back to his customers in the face of rejection. The second is that he found a system that worked for him and he stuck to it with laser-like focus. In other words, his shear consistency and persistence was a large part of his success - he would make the required number of calls every day, day after day, rain or shine, in sickness and in health.I guess that adds up to what 'service' is about - his customers could absolutely depend upon him to call and deliver the goods they ordered. As a result he built up repeat sales and a relationship with his customers. His formula for success is somewhat boring - it was simply hard work - he does what 99% of other people would not be willing to do. He could have taken the easy way out by accepting disability payments but instead he chose to work for a living.Perhaps they need to hand out this book to every person that is relying on welfare or other handouts? There are more than ten things you can learn from Bill Porter - frankly he puts most of us to shame with his values and ethics. His story is so inspirational that it has now been made into a film and he has spoken at many conferences to inspire other people to live more productive lives. I think you will find the book worth reading just to reaffirm how much more we are all capable of doing.
