ENTERPRISING ROGUES Welcome to Episode 9 of The Black Jedi podcast! Devon the Jedi your illustrious host here. On this week's episode I'll touch on what music we may expect from composer Michael Giacchino in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Giacchino was chosen to compose the score for the first live action non episodic Star Wars theatrical release after Alexander Desplat left the project. Giacchino composed the music for the "StarTours" ride as well as the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games. Mostly known for his music for Star Trek reboot and the recent Doctor Strange film, Giacchino plans to employ war timpanis throughout the score. THE ERSO CONNECTION Episode 8 is HUGE! Also I'll talk about Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy's interview with Variety and some of the things she mentioned about Rogue One and the Han Solo movie in 2018. Mama Kathy told Variety that Rogue One will "most likely" go without the iconic opening crawl we've all been accustomed to for nearly 40 years. This week I'll take a break from my "The Force Awakens - Revisited" series to talk about the madness which is Force Friday, a merchandising extravaganza for Disney which provides consumers with early access to the season's hottest Star Wars toys, video games and more! Last year, merchandising sales for the first Force Friday were over $1 billion dollars - just for one day! These sales contributed to the excitement geared towards the upcoming The Force Awakens film. Yesterday was Force Friday 2016 and stores once again opened up to Star Wars fans everywhere wanting to get their hands on the latest Rogue One figures for the upcoming movie. In this episode I'll break down some of the financial aspects of this "holiday" and how it helps Disney (and retailers) earn lots of bucks. Also I retread on one of my statements from last weeks show, when I stated that the New Republic was stupid for leaving its fleet anchored above Hosian Prime so that the First Order could simply destroy it with Starkiller Base. But I went back to do some research and discovered the truth behind what caused the Republic to be so nonchalant towards the First Order.
