The Last Dance Review, Who Said it First? Artificial Intelligence and Youth Sports, and One Awkward Question
We briefly revisit two news stories from last week to learn Ben might not become famous, and Wally shares a picture of the mannequins making social distancing "less awkward".In the news, Wally shares a story of a woman who made a homemade face mask out of Tupperware, it's video gold that you don't want to miss!We review the 10-part documentary "The Last Dance" which was about the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, but in reality, it was a documentary about Michael Jordan. Both Ben and Wally enjoyed the documentary, but Ben wondered if he would have watched it if it weren't for the pandemic. Wally, on the other hand, gave the documentary a 10 out of 10.In a new segment called "Who Said It First?", Wally reveals that Ben's mom thinks he's trying to be Dan Patrick (through this podcast) and turn Ben into his "Danette". Wally argues that it might be the other way around -- and offers video evidence of "who said it first". Ben jokingly accuses Dan of stealing our content and then panders for time on The Dan Patrick Show.We have our first ever interview! Ben and I had the privilege to interview Brett Fischer, Director of Human Performance @ Elite Performance Academy. Brett played college football at Missouri S&T, and played professionally with the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions, and in the AFL with both Memphis and Las Vegas. While we covered many topics, we want to share just a small segment of that interview tonight – Brett discusses the future of youth and elite athletic training – using Artificial Intelligence or machine learning to predict athlete ceilings, identify potential areas for injury, and to develop training specific to athletes to avoid injury and become more athletic. Wally and Ben discuss whether they like the idea of being able to tell a kid "you have pro athlete potential" or "you'll never make it past high school" athleticism. It's a really interesting listen! Our second new segment of the show is "One Shameless Plug" where Wally promotes his coffee table book "I Was NORMAL Then I Got Hit By A Car" (this is NOT paid advertising) as the perfect Father's Day gift this year. The book is a 100-page, hardcover coffee table book filled with original illustrations and dumb dad jokes. Wally shares three samples from the book -- Bundt Cake, Canteloupe, and Notso Awesome Sauce. Get the book for $24.95 plus FREE SHIPPING when you order before 6/10/20. Buy the book at www.wallacegustafson.com/fathersday.We finish with a fun "One Awkward Question". Wally asks Ben when was the last time he flexed shirtless in a mirror, and Ben asks Wally to tell the story about "Chip Breath". Join us for a great father-son conversation about news, life, sports, and entertainment!#podcast #funny #fathersdaygifts Thanks for listening to the podcast | The Ben and Wally Show | Tupperware as a Face Mask?
