Dr. A reveals the 24-Hour rule which was recently activated for her when a friend introduced her to the phrase "Corona Testy".  Upon realizing that she too was a bit "Corona Testy", she activated her tried and true 24 hour rule (sometimes 48)!  She discusses the rule, the benefits of that rule, and why now, more than ever, executives, business owners, and entrepreneurs need to take advantage of the rule!

Dr. A stresses the importance of not scaling back your dreams and never quitting.  She uses two personal and humorous, yet insightful stories -- one about her son during a middle school track meet and the other of how SHE quit during an adventurous trip to Hawaii!

In this episode, Dr. A explores what she calls the paradox of adversity -- the balance of remaining hopeful that you will make it through seasons of adversity, yet being real about the circumstances you're in.  A healthy blend of both will allow you to use strategy to navigate through the season of adversity, yet remaining positive, hopeful, and optimistic.

Dr. A discusses how business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs are being affected by the COVID-19 situation and how they could and expect to be the exception to the rule -- the one percent who will LEAN IN and figure out how to pivot for profits even in this season.  Dr. A relates this discussion to two main balance principles -- emotional balance and spiritual balance -- both of which are not just required to get to the "warrior" mindset necessary in this season, but also required to achieve the innovation necessary in order to serve God's people.  Dr. A offers some tips to keep a positive mindset in such an unprecedented time!

Hello and welcome to the Balanced Executive Podcast.My name is Angela Thomas (you can call me Dr. A) and I am thrilled to introduce you to both myself and this podcast.  The Background:For years, I struggled to keep my spiritual life separate from all things business and career-related. I was by no means ashamed - but felt it best to practice the concept of "separation of church and state" in my own life!It wasn't easy on either front - business or spiritual.  I didn't identify the professional gifts that I was given as part of a God-given purpose.  One day, a dream of mine came true - I was called back by my alma mater in 2014 to give a presentation about my journey.  It just clicked.  I could no longer keep these two things separate.  So I made a decision to no longer separate the two worlds.  I understood that all sides of me work together. Every single thing that God has gifted me to do, every single blessing, every single door, every single element of my life, all work together for the good of His people and for the good of his kingdom.Once I really got clear on my God-given purpose, things began to come together.  Today:What I have found is that so many executives, small business owners, and entrepreneurs, have the same fallacy that I did -- that we have to keep our professional life separate from our spiritual life.  OR we don't see how our giftings in our professional life can build God’s kingdom, so we try to keep the two separate.I’ve also seen over and over how executives, small business owners, and entrepreneurs will go all-in professionally and completely neglect one or more of the other areas of their lives. For example, they either burnout and don’t ever see the growth in their business, or have the business growth and the wealth but burn bridges with relationships, or struggle with their health. And that is not what God has designed for our lives at all. In order for us to achieve the wealth and legacy that we desire – that most of us small business owners, executives, entrepreneurs are working really hard toward. We have to get balanced in those other areas of our lives.When you change your mindset to see the integration between who we are in the secular world and how that speaks to God's kingdom then you start to look at life through a different lens. You start to look for ways to balance it all -- to integrate it all. To do this effectively, you must use strategy. You have to be strategic in every area of your life. The Podcast:So that's what this podcast is about. It's about helping executives, entrepreneurs, small business owners and anyone else who is trying to live out their purpose and leave a legacy on this earth. On our journey together, I will share my professional stories -- the successes and the failures.
