The Away Team Episode 23: The High Post
Cole and Dmitri here, and, in this episode, we enter new territory: the High Post. It's a bizarro version of Zach Lowe's the Lowe Post where all of the stats and analysis goes out the window and is replaced with bong rips and the most insane hot takes you'll ever hear. We start by talking about league news. Harden return to OKC? Should the Clippers trade Kawhi after extending Paul George? We hit it all and more. We then do quick hits like Sam Hinkie returning to the league as an... owner (?) and will Carson Edwards play a little center next season? We end the pod doing our end of the year award winners and it gets insane. Check out the episode folks. It's very different from what we usually do, but it was a refreshing change up and a lot of fun. As always, don't forget to follow us on twitter and instagram @awayteampod.

The Away Team Episode 22: Hawk Takes: ATL Season Projections
Cole and Dmitri here, and, in this episode, we put on our homer pants to talk about what we expect to be a fascinating season for the Atlanta Hawks. We start off by giving our best guess as to the minutes allocation for the revamped roster before getting into some interesting conversations about some of the potential lineups that we might see (or are just fun to think about). We used a heavy dose of Excel magic to provide some highly detailed statistical projections for our expected lineup production on various metrics, and then we based our discussion on the dynamics of players on the in-game level and the an overall season view, including asking some difficult questions about potential trade candidates and giving our fair share of Hawk Takes for the season. This is one of our best-researched episodes yet, so we're excited for you guys to give it a listen. As always, follow us on Twitter and Instagram (@awayteampod), where we'll post some of the more detailed stats we couldn't fit in this episode, and subscribe, like and leave a review!

The Away Team Episode 21: Draft/Free Agency Recap, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Woj/Shams Bombs
It's getting wild and crazy out there in NBA land, so Cole and Dmitri are here, as always, to piece through the rubble and talk about what we've found most interesting in a frantic free agency. We start off with a brief look back at the draft and see what we got right and wrong in our mock lottery. (We swear it's the GMs that made the wrong choices, not us...) Then we move on and take in-depth looks at the 12 teams we thought had the most interesting weeks, predicting how their seasons and futures might unfold based on the draft pickups, trades, free agent signings/losses and even injuries that have occurred since we last recorded. Since the season isn't starting until winter, we wanted to warm things up with some piping hot takes about the teams we saw make real leaps to take themselves from the lottery into the playoffs, or from early exits to real title chances, and those that set themselves up for another disappointing end to the season. Finally, we wrapped things up with a lightning round discussion of a few other teams that didn't make the cut for a full analysis but were worth touching on for one reason or another. Of course, we expect every single take to age perfectly... but as always, follow us on Twitter and Instagram (@awayteampod) and subscribe, like and leave a review if you want to hear more content!

The Away Team Episode 20: Harden Wants Out, Chris Paul Traded, and Our Famous NBA Lottery Mock Draft
Cole and Dmitri are back, and today's episode is all about evaluating some fine young talent in the lead up to this year's draft. First, we touch on all the recent rumblings in the league, including trades and drama, and consider what effects they might have, if any, on the draft. We then begin unveiling our lottery picks one by one, discussing each one's skills and drawbacks while looking at what the teams gain from their selections. And... of course... even in our mock draft, no pick is untradeable. Listen along to see who ends up where! The Away Team Episode 19: Transmissions from Earth 2, Daryl Morey "Steps Down", Coaching News, and What's Next for the League
Cole and Dmitri here, reporting from that desolate wasteland we call the offseason... but, luckily, there's still tons going on around the NBA! We start off by digging deep into why Daryl Morey "stepped down" from his position as GM of the Rockets and looking at the various ways in which an owner can impact the trajectory of their team. We then analyze the Tyronn Lue hiring for the Clippers and talk about whether he'll be able to work through some of the issues that led them to fall so early in this year's playoffs—or if the issues go far deeper. We also touch on some new Dave Joerger, Brett Brown and Van Gundy Brothers news, because why not, and wonder whether Zach LaVine is willing to risk it all to coax free-agent AD over to the Bulls. Finally, we try to sort through all the complications around this unique offseason, including the changes to the draft, the big questions around when free agency will start (and at what salary cap) and, of course, the uncertainty of when we'll get to watch NBA basketball again. Though I hear on Earth 2 they're having quite the time... The Away Team Episode 18: THE END of the NBA Bubble. Finals thoughts and a look forwards
Well, well, well, look who it is: Cole and Dmitri, of course, with our last playoff reaction pod for the year. We start off with a brief review of Game 5's infamous final play before dissecting the excellent Game 6 performances by LeBron, AD, the Lakers role players and whoever writes Skip Bayless's tweets, along with some discussion of what all went wrong for the Heat. We follow that with a conversation over LeBron's journey to get to this point and whether or not he has gotten his "damn respect" when it comes to the GOAT debate before touching on some moves the Heat might make in the offseason to keep themselves in contention for 2021 (and the race for Giannis). Finally, we investigate the cause of the NBA's viewership woes following the least-watched Finals series the league has seen. The Away Team Episode 17: Interview with Joe Garcia
Howdy folks and folkettes, Cole and Dmitri here, joined today by Joe Garcia of the Two Shots Podcast (@twoshotspodcast on Twitter) to talk about a little bit of the Finals and a little bit of the Spurs. We start off trying to figure out whether the Lakers or Heat are carrying the torch of the 2014 Spurs in this year's finals, topped off with a healthy dose of praise for the Spurs organization and a worthy South Florida-based imitator. With the Spurs fresh off of clinching a lottery berth for the first time in most of NBA Twitters' lives, we pivot to discussing their most promising young prospects and who among their veterans is worth keeping. We end by arrogantly assuming that Pop will retire before the age of 100 and look into some of the most likely candidates to replace him. As always, follow us on Twitter and Instagram (@awayteampod) and subscribe like and review!

The Away Team Episode 16: NBA Finals Post-Game 3 Reactions and What to watch for Game 4
What’s up folks! Cole and Dmitri here. In this episode of the podcast, we recap the NBA Finals through the first 3 games. We begin by talking about the disastrous beginning to the series for the Heat—and the NBA viewer engagement department. We then discuss how Jimmy Butler channeled both Greg Jennings and Goku to put the team on his back in Game 3 and give credit and criticism, where each are due, to the rest of the Heat lineup for their contributions. We also examine everything the Lakers did right in the first two games and wrong in the last one, with a healthy dose of Dion Waiters thrown in for good measure. Finally, we stare deeply into our gazing orb to predict what will happen in Game 4. Were we right? You’ll have to listen to find out.As always check us out on Twitter and Instagram @awayteampod and don't forget to subscribe, like, and review!

The Away Team Episode 15: NBA Finals Preview and Conference Finals Postmortem
In this week’s episode of the podcast, Cole and Dmitri give their NBA Finals preview.  They talk about the 7 or so most important things to watch for in the NBA Finals including Anthony Davis vs. Bam Adebayo, who will be the 5th starter for the Lakers, the Heat's zone defense, and role players to watch on the Heat and the Lakers. We then talked a bit about what the Celtics and the Nuggets should do after losing their series.  We talk about Kemba Walker's struggles (offensively and defensively) and whether they should try to replace him and upgrading the 5 spot for the Celtics.  We then talked about the need for Denver to try and offload Gary Harris this offseason, to upgrade their backup center after Mason Plumlee had such a bad series and the fact that their defensive specialists (Paul Millsap, Jerami Grant, and Torrey Craig) are all free agents this offseason. As always, don't forget to give us a sub/follow and a like/review.  Also, please check out the Bolstered Up Sports Podcast.  We had a guest appearance yesterday where we gave our Finals predictions, talked NBA Finals/Conference Finals, and then hit a little bit of Doc Rivers firing.  We appreciate all of your support and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any comments or questions on Twitter @awayteampod or on email at awayteampod@gmail.com

The Away Team Episode 14: Reactions through 2 Games of Nuggets-Lakers and 3 Games of Miami-Boston
In this week’s episode of the podcast, Cole and Dmitri reflect on the two Conference Finals series through 2 and 3 games.  We begin by talking about the Celtics strong showing in game 3.  On the Heat side, we talk about Goran Dragic’s struggles, Tyler Hero’s heroics, and Jimmy Buttler’s strange, passive series.  On the Celtics side, we hit on Jaylen Brown’s destruction of Duncan Robinson, Gordon Hayward’s return, and Kemba starting to figure things out. We then moved over to the Denver, LA series.  Here we talked about the adjustments that Denver made in the second game, the dominance of Jokic (and overstatement of Dwight’s defense on him), and the terrible offensive execution by Garry Harris and Paul Millsap.  On the Lakers side, we talked about the defensive matchup difficulties that Anthony Davis presents, the savvy transition play from the Lakers, and the subtle brilliance of Lebron James. As always, don't forget to give us a sub/follow and a like/review.  We appreciate all of your support and please feel free to reach out to us if you have any comments or questions on Twitter @awayteampod or on email at awayteampod@gmail.com
