Finding Purpose with Simon Drew | There Is Existential Meaning in and Outside of Religion
Today I had the opportunity to speak with podcast host, life coach, writer, and musician, Simon Drew. Our culture is heavily influenced by the various voices which dominate social and mainstream media, and when someone like Jordan Peterson speaks or says something that questions or even goes against the mainstream “gospel” so to speak, people lose their minds and all hell breaks loose. “You should conceptualize the highest possible good that you can conceive of that would be good for you, your family, your community, your country, your world. And then you should aim at that highest possible good because what have you got to do that’s better than that?” 14:44. We talk about why someone might still choose to do good even after leaving religion or the idea of God/an afterlife.Looking at Simon’s journey 5:07The great thing about this culture 10:42Something Jordan Peterson said that set Simon on a different course 14:44Purpose 20:21What keeps people good 34:46Being at peace 39:23Helping people to pay attention and ask the right questions 45:58What Simon wants people to remember about him 51:31Simon’s podcast 56:20“I find it very comforting to constantly have that reassurance that I might also be on the wrong path and am likely on the wrong path, but that’s OK because the wrong path becomes the right path as long as we persist in seeking whatever is best.” 11:41https://dailystoic.com/https://www.simonjedrew.com/

Fighting Addiction with Andrea Ashley | The True Reason for Dependency on Substances
In this episode I meet with the host of the Adult Child Podcast, Andrea Ashley, who has taken a very courageous journey and will be telling us her story. She learned a family secret at a young age that her mom was an alcoholic, which had a large impact on her, and then affected her development as she grew up. She got into alcoholism and struggled with being an alcoholic from middle school until she was 19 years old when she was finally able to break free from the addiction. Honestly what I really feel like it boils down to is really not a disease of alcoholism, it’s really not the disease of addiction, but I truly believe that it’s the disease of family dysfunction, and that this stuff gets passed from generation to generation and it manifests in different ways.” 24:39A context of Andrea’s journey and Adult Child 2:39How her journey can provide life tools for you 8:59Trying to get away with narcotics 17:42The underlying issue 24:34Avoiding blame 31:03The main goal of her podcast 39:54What her TED Talk would be 48:45“So I think in a way that with those personality traits coming out, and that’s what I’m talking about with the toxic shame, I think a lot of it was, I’m going to lean into this role. I’m the girl that nobody likes, and also as a protective measure of like, ‘I’m gonna make you not like me so that you can’t then decide that you don’t like me. Just kind of leaning into that role.” 19:48https://www.adultchildpodcast.com/episodes@adultchildpod

The Great Need of Our Day | Combating Victimhood with Jesse Lee Peterson
Today I speak with president of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, podcast and talk show host, Jesse Lee Peterson. We discuss the large issue of today being that many people are claiming to be a victim of what has happened to them and have turned away from God, causing them to have a very selfish view of the world and those around them. Jesse grew up working on a plantation during the Jim Crow laws, but his parents and grandparents never taught him to see himself as a victim, but to work hard and believe in God. The main thing being pushed under the rug is the family, which is being attacked at every angle and is the major cause of problems in our society today. Overcoming fear and putting God first is the one way to fix what is happening right now.Jesse’s mission statement 3:41What has happened to Millennials 6:18The pushback Jesse receives 9:51Being alone in your beliefs 13:25The big problem today 15:00Jesse’s solution 18:21“We have been speaking to different young people around the world really, pointing them back to the fathers, teaching them to forgive their mothers and fathers for not guiding them in the right way and turning them back to morality, because once you return to morality, you can be guided.” 6:44https://rebuildingtheman.com/https://jesseleepeterson.com/https://thefallenstate.tv/

Modern Day Morality with Rabbi Yitzchok Frankfurter | What Is and Is not Allowed to Be Said in the Modern World
In today’s episode I have on the show Rabbi Frankfurter, the Editor in Chief of Ami Magazine, one of the leading publications, which is focused primarily on the orthodox Jewish community. We discuss a bit about the current state of our society and how its values have evolved, which in some ways has been a good thing, but in others not so good. We talk about how recent changes in society have influenced people to either grow closer to religion and religious morals while at the same time driving others further away. The importance of dialogue is seemingly uncomprehended today and when you shut down the other voice, the dialogue becomes monologue and you cease to learn because you’re only hearing what you’ve already heard.Yitzchok’s background 2:42Ami Magazine’s mission 11:38Have these times caused more or less soul searching? 20:42The importance of dialogue 24:10The degradation of morality 27:00His proudest achievements 39:54What he wants people to be saying about him 45:57“Debate runs in our blood, and to suppress debate, to suppress the other vote is not only something that I find against the United States Constitution, but against my own constitution. We discuss the benefits and controversies of the uses of cannabis in today’s society and touch on why and how this medicine can be of use to many people struggling with various illnesses. Jeffrey Flamm | Why Fame and Fortune Shouldn’t Be the Focus
Today I speak to Jeffrey Flamm, the CEO of Infinite Mind, and we discuss the concept of success, which is much broader than just the financial side of things. We discuss the moment when Jeff saw a very large sum of money come into his life and how that affected it, especially in ways some might not think. A lot of people that come into big money forget about the things that matter and often will start focusing on temporal pursuits, causing a string of unhappiness in their lives. Saul Blinkoff | The Road to Disney | Amazing Story of Hope
In this episode I talk with filmmaker, Disney animation artist, and voice actor, Saul Blinkoff, who tells us his story of how he discovered his dream of working in the entertainment industry and the many roadblocks he ran into on his journey to achieving his dream. He worked extremely hard to become a Disney animator, but when it came time for recruitment, he was not selected. Little did he know though, he was only 3 spots away out of three thousand portfolios to being picked. Saul attributes much of his success to a friend he made named Andy who had an amazing work ethic, which influenced Saul’s own work ethic. “Who we choose to be friends with actually affects who we become.” 15:23 “If nobody really wakes up great at anything, why would you not try for everything?” 34:01Saul Intro 3:36Work ethic and peer group 14:36Profound lesson in perseverance 21:01Michael Jordan story 23:54Recipe for greatness 34:01Two movies of hope Saul recommends 37:26What greatness is 42:57“This piece of paper was a list of 8 schools. 8 art schools that Disney recruits their artists from. Saul plus one of these schools will equal dream of becoming a Disney animator. Andrew Bernstein and James Walker | A Changing Industry
Today I sit down with photographer Andrew Bernstein and sportscaster James Walker, both successful in their careers, and we discuss the world of sports and where they see it going from here as we get through the pandemic. You would think viewership and ratings would go up for sports as people are stuck at home and have extra time to be watching TV, but the opposite has proven true. Asher Milgrom | Conventional VS. Unconventional Medicine
Today I talk to the CEO and founder of Advanced Integrated Medicine and Surgery (AIMS), Asher Milgrom. There are many remedies for ailments out there that have a much more natural approach and Dr. Milgrom states that the 2nd leading cause of death in the US comes from medical treatments. These deaths otherwise could have been avoided if people never got the treatment in the first place. He explains why non-conventional medicine is seen as taboo and held back from being recommended by the grand majority of doctors. There are countless ailments and illnesses out there that could be prevented if the modern medical world would be willing to talk about it. Unfortunately most people aren’t educated about these things and just do what their doctor is telling them to do, which is the thing that will make their doctor the most money.Asher intro 4:48Before Conventional Medicine and why it’s held back 19:13Does Western culture teach that we can’t survive without modern medicine? 30:48The regulatory environment keeps alternative medicine from moving forward 40:59“So rather than doing invasive procedures can you work with the body to augment and support its natural regenerative and healing capacity. Our bodies are engineered to heal and we’re not focused on that oftentimes. Oftentimes Western medicine is simply focused on managing the disease rather than actually curing and healing it.” 29:11https://www.linkedin.com/in/asher-milgrom-3047a726/https://www.amaskincare.com/

He had a reputation of not being able to be bought, unlike some other police officers, and instilled respect in what he did, which has greatly influenced Vinnie. He tells about how he got involved with the White House and had to work directly with the secret service and organize the logistics of everything. We discuss the polarization of America today and how this election has been one of the most polarized in history. Social media has greatly influenced how people communicate today and even how people think. We talk about the Coronavirus, the pandemic, and how it has affected so many people, including their jobs as the economy took a hit.Vinnie’s history 3:53How he got involved with the White House 12:58His opinion on the polarization in America right now 23:47Emergency task force 36:48“A lot of those people that are down on their luck that don’t have the means, that don’t have a paycheck, they just lost their job again. Jeremy Gardner | Traits of a Successful Businessman
Today I have with me crypto currency investor and millionaire, Jeremy Gardner. We start off with Jeremy telling us the story of where he came to learn about crypto currency, drop out of college, and then eventually acquire Bitcoin. Unable to get funding or loans from firms or investors, he eventually had to resort to liquidating all of his own assets to fund Augur, which in the end turned out to be a good decision. He gives some advice on what people should do to become more comfortable with themselves and be more true to themselves. These include meditation, cardiovascular exercise, and diet, and then he recommends you don’t spend a lot of time on social media and on your computer, but to read books, expand your opportunities, and learn how to learn. “Reading stoicism is just the best way to overcome obstacles in your life, to diminish the ego, to be the best person you can be. I cannot recommend a better school of thought.” 32:53. We talk about spirituality and Jeremy tells about some of his beliefs that have influenced him, including serendipity, or serendipitous situations in life.  Jeremy’s story 2:30 Augur 13:59 Jeremy recommends this book 27:34 How to get to the point where you’re comfortable with and true to yourself 29:42 His spiritual side 36:46 “It’s finding that balance. Whatever your indulgence is, and it’s great if it can be reading or writing, or jogging, or just listening to music. But for some people we’ve got a more hedonistic side and indulging in that is OK, but it’s finding your limits and never exceeding them.” 34:14

Sierra Rainge | Pushing Through Hard Times
In this episode I speak with the CEO of the Live Limitless Author's Academy and author of To Dance in the Rain, Sierra Rainge. She tells us about some of the challenges she had to face through her formative years and what she did to overcome some of those challenges. She tells about what has given her the drive to push forward in what she does and how that has greatly influenced her life. She mentions some things from her book such as how life is going to bring us storms and we need to learn how to see the positive side of the storms. Storms bring water, which nutrify the seeds in the ground and therefore provide us with sustenance. We discuss the millennial generation and how their approach has changed so much from the previous generations. The previous generation kind of just settles for one job and gets stuck there, whereas millennials tend to not be satisfied with the mediocre, but shoot higher and dream bigger than previous generations.  Challenges Sierra had to navigate through in her journey 3:57 Sierra’s favorite personal development tool 10:50 Are most people happy or unhappy? 21:42 Theses of her other books 27:18 What does Sierra want her friends and family to say about her? 41:12 Where to find Sierra 43:51  “I was lucky, or blessed enough to see outside of my situation and I think that’s the thing that pushes humanity forward. Joseph Jaffe | Take Life by the Reigns
In this episode I speak with the creator of Corona TV, author of 5 books and founder of 3 companies, Joseph Jaffe. He tells us about the success of a company he worked for called Nando’s Chickenland and that it was all based on 3 things which were: 1) the chicken 2) the people behind the chicken 3) the marketing of the chicken. Often times Nando’s would use the three taboos in marketing to gain people’s attention, which were sex, religion, and politics. Joseph tells us about a buffer that companies need to have such as extra savings for times like a pandemic, or having a plan B. You need to ask, are you prepared to take yourself out of business? This means creating a second product for when your business gets taken over and you can have another option or course to take. We also discuss fear and the role it plays in being able to get through trials, and right now we need to either adapt or die. Joseph talks about joy and that we need to incorporate it in our lives, giving a simple formula which is love what you do, be true to yourself, and endurance or do it just long enough. Life is about embracing that inevitability that we will someday die, and we need to take advantage of what life has to offer and the opportunities that we have available now instead of putting them off. Joseph tells about finding your super power and that it needs to be your goal in life to discover that, and you can have more than one super power which will motivate you to reach your potential.  How Nando’s Chickenland influenced Joseph 5:16 The key to success is to suck less 14:50 How restaurants need to adapt 23:27 Survival instinct: Fear and pain vs. hunger and risk 28:49 Simple formula for life 35:20 Joseph’s philosophy on life 54:50 2 important life lessons for the millennial generation to live happier 63:17 “One of the sayings and one of the mantras at Nando’s ChickenLand, the quick service restaurant that I worked for in marketing for 5 years, is the idea of never forget where you come from. Never forget where you came from because so often we forget that humility. We forget those humble beginnings when we had to work hard. When we literally were pedal to the metal. And it is that hubris and it is that arrogance that often is our undoing.” 3:15
