Kevin Hines: Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt
Welcome back to the podcast! I have an incredible episode for all of you today. Not only is this an INSPIRING conversation about the fragility of life and the unbelievable story of my guest…but also this is a conversation that could save lives. I recently had the honor to sit down with Kevin Hines, who in 2000 leapt off the Golden Gate Bridge, a suicide attempt that has resulted in death for most that have made the jump.  But Kevin miraculously survived. And in the 16 years since his nearly fatal try, he has become the bridge between the many mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, spouses, friends, and loved ones who made similar acts. Kevin sits on the board of the international foundation of the bridge rail foundation, the mental health association of San Francisco, and on the survivors committee of the national suicide prevention hotline. He is the author of the book “Cracked, Not Broken: Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt.” So listen in and enjoy this very important message about choosing life, discovering why you are here, and much more.  You can reach Kevin online at http://www.kevinhinesstory.com  & Learn more at www.alituranaturals.com

(video) Date with Destiny & The Power of Forgiveness: Dawn Watson
“Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional” When I first saw my guest on the Tony Robbins Documentary “I’m Not Your Guru,” I knew I had to get her on the show.  Today I’m honored and excited to have Dawn Watson with me, someone who I admire for the strength, courage, and vulnerability she has shown throughout her life. Many of you will recognize her from the Tony Robbins documentary, as her incredible story brought many to tears, including Tony himself.  Dawn was born in Sao Paulo Brazil into a cult known as the “Children of God.”  Completely secluded from the realities of normal society, everything she learned and knew to be in the world lived behind the closed doors of their big homes, communes filled with people from all over the world. Her family consisted of thousands of uncles, aunties, brothers and sisters that all followed and obeyed one man, their prophet, whom they named "Father" and for us children, "Grandfather".  He believed and taught that women were to express their freedom and love through sexuality, which turned to be a very dark experience. For Dawn, the thought of “who am I am” and “what do I want to do with my life” was non-existent for many years. You were a product of the cult and that was that. But towards her later teen years, something within kept saying this way of living was wrong and there was something more to life, and she wanted that—At age 18 she left the cult for good. And from there her true journey began, understanding who she was and what she was put on earth to do. Today Dawn and I discus many details around her upbringing and personal journey including; what it took to be at the Tony Robbins event (how much she sacrificed), how she was almost kicked out of the Tony Robbins Seminar, her struggles with self expression and asking permission, recovering from past trauma, the power of forgiveness, her experience leaving the cult, her new career & upcoming book, and so much more. I hope you enjoy the show with this very special and amazing human being! Learn more at www.alituranaturals.com “Forgiveness is the process of emptying so that there is space for love”

(video) Ryan Kalish: For the Love of Baseball & Navigating Uncertain Times
I’m excited to welcome Ryan Kalish onto the show today. Ryan has a great story of resilience, belief, and moving forward in the face of uncertainty. As an MLB player, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2006 as a top high school prospect. Ryan then debuted in the major leagues in 2010, and by the end of the season was voted the Red Sox Rookie of the year. Things were looking bright for the young MLB player; he was a building block for the Red Sox future.  Although after a healthy 4-year start, Ryan began dealing with grueling injures that kept him sidelined for most of 2012 and 2013 seasons…from 2011 to 2015, he had over 10 major surgeries. How do you deal with that many surgeries and keep a positive mindset? When do you look in the mirror and question the right path? What drives Ryan to push and defy the odds to play in the MLB again? Ryan and I dive deep into these questions, and uncover what baseball means to him, and much more. In 2016 Ryan Kalish was called up to the Chicago Cubs, showing his hard work, belief, and no-quit mentality had paid off. Enjoy the show!  Learn more at www.alituranaturals.com

(video) Rick Ankiel: The Comeback Kid on Starting Over and Finding His Swing
It’s not everyday you get to interview one of your childhood heroes.  My guest today is Rick Ankiel, who has an incredible story, one of resilience and unwavering belief.  One that is very close to my heart, as I went through my own process of resilience and re-design. In his first season in the majors, Rick finished second for rookie of the year (pitcher). He was a pitcher with the Cardinals from 1999 until 2004, when he lost his ability to throw strikes consistently. After trying to regain his pitching form in the minor leagues, he decided to switch to the outfield in early 2005. For two and a half years, he honed his skills as a hitter and fielder in the Cardinals' minor-league system…many people believed he would never make it, as it’s incredible hard to do. But he persevered and returned to the Cardinals on August of 2007. As a Cardinal until 2009, Ankiel hit 47 home runs as an outfielder and two as a pitcher. In this episode you’ll learn how Rick went from MLB rookie phenom to playing back in single A, his mindset techniques used to get back to the majors, his transition from pitcher to outfield (relearning how to play the position), his career post MLB, and much more. This is an episode you don’t want to miss. Hope you enjoy the show! Learn more at www.alituranaturals.com

Mickey Guyton: The Winding Road to Country Music Stardom
Thanks for tuning in to the Andy Hnilo Show! I have a great episode for you today, as Mickey Guyton joins us for an inspiring conversation. Mickey is not only a longtime friend (having worked together back in the day at Abercrombie & Fitch), she is an American country music singer and songwriter currently signed with Capitol Nashville Records. She is also one of the few African American country artists to make a name for her self, in a predominately white/male industry. Today we cover the winding journey that music has taken her on, from a kid growing up in Waco Texas, to the bright lights of Los Angeles. The road is never clear, as there many obstacles she had to overcome. Mickey readily admits “I was ready to give up and move home to Texas,” but her gut told her to stay a little longer… and it made all the difference, as a chance encounter changed her life. Her message is clear.  Never give up on your dreams; you might be one inch away from the treasure you seek. Enjoy the show! Learn more at www.alituranaturals.com
