TAAP Episode 35-S.W.O.T. Strategy Matrix
The usefulness of SWOT analysis is not limited to profit seeking organizations. SWOT analysis may be used in any decision-making situation when a desired end-state (objective) is defined.  SWOT analysis can also be used in pre-crisis planning and preventive crisis management. SWOT can be used effectively to build organizational or personal strategy. Steps necessary to execute strategy-oriented analysis involve identification of internal and external factors (using the popular 2x2 matrix), selection and evaluation of the most important factors, and identification of relations existing between internal and external features. For instance, strong relations between strengths and opportunities can suggest good conditions in the company and allow using an aggressive strategy. On the other hand, strong interactions between weaknesses and threats could be analyzed as a potential warning and advice for using a defensive strategy. As always do your own due diligence and experiment with the matrix above so you can gather your own inferences and solutions. I’ll be supplementing every Mental Bias episode with a counter Mental Model or strategy podcast episode!Make the rest of your day the best of your day ADVANCERS!!! TAAP EPS 27-Why a little stress is actually good for you
We Advancers are adapting machines. We have evolved to not just adapt but to thrive in any and all environments. With adaptation, with novelty with the constant pursuit of growth comes... stress.Hormesis is a biological phenomenon whereby a beneficial effect results from exposure to low doses of an agent that is otherwise toxic or lethal when given at higher doses. What we’re not adapted for, however, is the chronic, unrelenting stress that has become so common in modern life. This type of stress provokes feelings of hopelessness and helplessness – what psychologists call a “defeat response”. And it’s the defeat response that leads to increased fat storage, abdominal obesity, tissue breakdown, suppression of the immune system, and all of the other effects I listed above that directly cause obesity and diabetes. That's another podcast on this episode tune into find out more about the hermetic response.
