Drupal 7 is reaching its end of life … eventually. Originally scheduled for this year, D7’s end of life was pushed back to 2021 and then to 2022. Regardless of when this end of life date is, if you’re running Drupal 7, you should migrate as soon as possible. Drupal 8 and 9 are very different from Drupal 7. So, migrating out of D7 is going to be more expensive and take longer than previous migrations. And it’s important to have an idea of how much money and how much longer the move will take, because you could get stuck in the middle of a migration without the resources to finish the job.
