After a long discussion and much negotiating (especially with Nickels who proposes that Em, being so clown-like, may have run away to the circus and fit in where she most likely belongs), Spud convinces the others that they must go back to the planet on which the Hodges and Sporalian Circus is performing to save the princess from the hijinks of the clowns. To make matters worse, the job that they have currently taken forces them to navigate through an asteroid field, which is nearly impossible to safely move through. Unfortunately, the people of Solaris are absolutely by the book and highly argumentative. Moreover, they are difficult to identify with. Therefore, between Nickels' bad sense of humor and lack of etiquette and Em being so confrontational, this leaves Spud as the only mediator of peace among the lot of them. Can he find a way to smooth things over after things go so quickly south, or will the conflict escalate and result in Recovery Services having their trade license revoked or even worse--all out intergalactic war? In fact, it looks like they may have skipped to the past approximately 700 years earlier. On top of that, Ship is glitching yet again. They decide to set down in what appears to be a rather large theme park in what was once known as Southern California. But what exactly has happened, and will they find out in time or find themselves permanently marooned somewhere in the past? In the Season 2 Carryover Series, Nickels and Spud: Shorts from Space Episode 5: Germs, Spud is trying to wrap up the negotiations with the Jozalite representatives the crew had done a job for so that they might receive a well needed and earned pay day. While on the planet's surface, Nickels, Em and the others encounter a device that Spud has most recently engineered, enabling its user to see germs. It's something that Spud warned Em about, discouraging anyone from using it. But, on a dare, they do, and something goes wrong--terribly wrong. Now, no one trusts one another. They are terrified. They are grossed out. They are germaphobed! Moreover, they have skipped out of orbit and have somehow very large going to crash into them. Will Spud return to Ship in time to put everything straight? It's about a time when he and Tessa with just about Nicky's age, and Nickels went against the rules laid down by his father and decided to venture out into the wilderness nearby their home on Cretaurus. Tessa, who has always seemingly been there to bail him out of trouble, went after him. But did he listen? Would he listen? Can he listen? And, does his childhood memory have some kind of meaning for Nicky, or is Nickels just doing what Nickels does best--talking about himself? In the Season 2 Carryover Series, Nickels and Spud: Shorts from Space Episode 1: Girls Night Out, it's Em's birthday, and she wants to go out and have a good time--without the guys. So, she contacts Tessa, who happens to be in the area, and talks her into joining her for a girls night out at an intergalactic rave known as the Hive. There, the girls get a little more acquainted, find some trouble (or does it find them?) and the two walk away understanding each other on a much more personal note.

In Season 2 Episode 10: It's a Wonderful Nickels, Nickels devastates Em by selfishly flushing her Christmas festivities and all the trimmings out into space. Outraged, Em and all the invited guests tell Nickels how rotten he was for doing it, leaving him by himself to contemplate. He ends up falling asleep, wishing he had never hatched and is then visited by three specters that show him how things would have turned out if he had never come into existence... How will he react? Will the others find it in their hearts to forgive him? While down there, they encounter some strange things and detect signs of life--other life. They had found no trace of the Carpians, and the robots left behind weren't exactly helpful.
