**Bonus Episode** - Episode 14 - Searching for Trust
There are so many things in church that may seem like common sense to you but are so muddy and murky to others. Take the time this week to explain to your youth things that happen in church such as officer elections, board meetings, the budget, whatever they are hazy on. But let’s not stop there. Start to encourage and advocate for them to get involved in ministries and not just as the last volunteer but like you know the head or the head assistant. They will have a new and innovative way to fix things and engage a demographic you can’t reach. Again trust me on this one. Let's Talk! Episode 13 - Searching for Family
I’ve shared some stats this season, on the podcast and on our blogs, but this one always sticks out to me. According to the Barna Group, out of those surveyed, 59 percent, who maintained their membership in a congregation, were more likely to have a personal friendship with an adult inside the church versus the 31 percent who are no longer active churchgoers. It’s the relationships, that help young people feel something and want to stay. Your relationship allows them to want to follow you as you follow Jesus. We make it difficult when in reality it’s easy. Love them and show them family. Lets talk! Episode 12 - Searching for Healing
In a time where young adults have broken the mold of following orders and going to church because of routine, there is a moment where the opportunity to reach out and help those who have been hurt by the church can be a more impactful testimony than the most powerful series. Now imagine that. Lets talk! Episode 11 - Searching for Help
We feel that the work of reaching out, contacting those who have stepped out or those who are going through devastating issues is someone else’s work. That was never the plan for the church body as a whole from the advent. It was supposed to be a community that if one hurts, all hurts and if one soars all fly to new heights. Lets Talk! Episode 10 - Searching for Vision
Visions are also important because it can be a rallying cry for the church and the community at a large. If you say, your church should be the beacon of hope in a community through service. You set out a vision for all to see that you plan to put God’s love in action. We are all familiar with Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish” but there is another one that I want you to dwell on Habakuk 2:2 “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets”. There is something powerful about language and writing down things. It has been scientifically proven if you write something down you will work towards it subconsciously. Lets talk! Episode 9 - Searching for Reconciliation
People have this saying, you never forget your first. The first time you stepped into school, the first time you laughed with a childhood friend. The first time your eyes locked with that special someone, who made your heart race and made you forget words. The first time you spoke to that person and tried to get the words out. And of course, the first break up where you felt that things would never get better. Here’s a tip for my young listeners, it does. Let’s talk! Episode 8 - Searching for Purpose
There are young people who are searching for purpose within the walls but to have no opportunity can run them away. This not only stunts their growth spiritually, it stunts the growth of the church and we end up with such vast age gaps. The match is growing long. The wrestler is getting weary…Just tag them in. Episode 7 - Searching for Progress
Benjamin Franklin is famously known for saying “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”  Progress is something that can be slow or it can be fast, but it must happen. All the companies I looked at did two things: The realized that there was a problem and then they ACTED on a plan to fix it. Please don’t look around your church and ask where are all the young worshippers when you are not prepared to do something about it! You can it takes action. Or you may go the way of a company that never pivoted and had to put up that faithful sign “Going out of business”. Episode 6 - Searching for Acceptance
Today’s talk resonated with me because our guest explored how certain admonishments from people within the church really pushed him away. It should make you remember for a moment the vulnerabilities you felt as a young person who were looking for acceptance and guidance and instead got rebuffed. People struggle with how Millennials and youth in general can just up and leave the church but have you ever asked yourself what are they really leaving? Episode 5 - Searching for Joy
According to the Barna Group, who is a research group who studies religion and provides the statistics, “The first factor that will engage Millennials at church is as simple as it is integral: relationships. When comparing twentysomethings who remained active in their faith beyond high school and twenty-somethings who dropped out of church, the Barna study uncovered a significant difference between the two. Those who stay were twice as likely to have a close personal friendship with an adult inside the church (59% of those who stayed report such a friendship versus 31% among those who are no longer active).”   Theme Music by: Farrell Hutchinson @fchocsmooth_musicAdditional Music by: Wentworth Kelly @ikondude   Find us on Instagram @the99and1podcast email us at info@99and1podcast.comvisit our website at www.99and1podcast.com

Episode 4 - Searching for Support
The definition of support is “bear all or part of the weight of; hold up. Or “a thing that bears the weight of something or keeps it upright.” When we think of support, we should think of the church first and foremost. When we reach that difficult wall in our lives, as church going, Bible believing, Christ fearing, hymns singing “love thy neighbor” Christians, we would think that the first place we would get help, judgement free, would be the church. But what happens when that is not the case? What happens when we are standing there, looking at this 10 foot wall situation that we’re facing in our lives, and we look around and see no one there to help us over this wall?   Theme Music by: Farrell Hutchinson @fchocsmooth_musicAdditional Music by: Wentworth Kelly @ikondude   Find us on Instagram @the99and1podcast email us at info@99and1podcast.comvisit our website at www.99and1podcast.com

Episode 3 - Searching for Diversity
How can churches move forward in Diversity? It’s a question that needs to be faced and addressed because the Millennial generation has grown up in some unique times where Diversity is not a tagline but a force that pushes the culture of entire industries, universities, and cities. Think about the fact that we are the first generation that grew up being encouraged to engage people different than us. Riddle me this Batman, how do we bring diversity to the church? Episode 2 - Searching For Answers
“There are two things that set a man in motion, fear or self-interest”, so on that day when fear is overcome, what happens then? What happens when the ridicule of your family can’t outweigh your passion for deep answers that leads you away from them and your church? Or the day when an inquisitive youth in your church comes back with “Why?” after you gave them an answer you thought was sufficient what happens then? Do you explore with them the possibility of the question, accepting that you may not have all the answers or do you go with the instant repellent of “Because I said so” or “That’s just the way it is!” That won’t work anymore with a generation that won’t settle for fluff answers or forceful retorts. This isn’t a generation that will sit through the “You heard what I said” and the numbers are indicating that. Studies show that Millennials are the least likely age group of anyone to attend church (by far). Picture a generation searching for answers and the one place that was supposed to help them instead pushed them away by simply not listening! Episode 1 - Searching for Home
What happens when a young christian, who is desperately searching to find a place to call home, is also struck by grief? How does the church family that is supposed to rally around this individual doesn't reach out to check in on her. What does she do when even the leaders around do not make an intentional effort to be present in her time of need? These are the challenges that our guest faced which led her to a point of frustration. A tried and true cliche is "Home is where the heart is", let's see if she ever found home!    Theme Music by: Farrell Hutchinson @fchocsmooth_musicWentworth Kelly @ikondude Ambience Music: Reawakening Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/   Find us on Instagram @the99and1podcast email us at info@99and1podcast.comvisit our website at www.99and1podcast.com
