Nearly every American sports network that i looked at called Bautista's bat flip 'disrespectful' or 'unsportsmanlike'. That's simply because they don't understand.-Click here to Download the Podcast or go to the bottom of this page- They haven't felt the years of frustration with 'good but not good enough' Blue Jays teams. They haven't been through the decade-long playoff droughts experienced by all Toronto sports franchises in the 90's and 2000's. They never had to feel the disheartening third period collapse in a game 7 at the hands of the Bruins. They never had to witness the missed last second shot from the Raptors in the final game of a series...twice...from their franchise players Lowry and Carter. They never had the embarrassment of being named the worst sports franchise (Leafs)...in back to back years. And they especially haven't seen their soccer teams miss the post-season every year for their first decade of existence (that was changed about 3 hours ago thanks to Giovinco). In 2007, the Toronto Maple Leafs had won the last game of their season, meaning that a New Jersey Devils win over the New York Islanders would send the Leafs to the post season for the first time in 3 years. The Devils were down 2-0 with 5 minutes left, when all of a sudden john madden scored...twice...with the second goal coming with 0.1 seconds left. Toronto had hope, it was destiny that they were to go back to the playoffs, all the momentum was on the Devils side. Until...Wade Dubielewicz sent a pokecheck to the last Devils shooter in the Shooutout, and the Leafs automatically failed to qualify for the playoffs. What I'm getting at here is that Toronto Sports fans are taught to think that 'we can't have nice things'. Even when there is hope for Toronto teams, things seem to go awry which always results in more pain for the fans of the Six. What might be the saddest part is that for Toronto, making the post-season is deemed as a 'successful' season. Think about that. The expectation of this city has been to 'finish in the top half of the league'. Imagine if cities like Boston, Chicago, or New York had those same expectations. With one swing of the bat, things seemed to have changed. Bautista throwing the bat felt like he was throwing away the 'curse' of Toronto sports. It felt like years of frustration was taken out on that bat flip, and it was a symbol that this team is differen

It was a tight game in the bottom of the 7th inning with the Blue Jays having a mere 9-1 lead. It had been an entire week since the Blue Jays had racked up 15 runs, so they were due going into todays game. They were in need of some big insurance runs when Edwin Encarnacion delivered the most clutch hit in the history of baseball. EE smashed a ball into Right-Center Field with the bases loaded to give the Jays a slightly more comfortable 13-1 lead. But they knew they needed more if they wanted to win this game. So Russel Martin blasted a 2 run homerun a few minutes later to finally give the Blue Jays some breathing room at 15-1. Encarnacion ended the game with a hat-trick of homeruns(3) which provoked the fans at the Rogers Centre to toss their hats onto the field, which is a common practice in hockey when someone scores 3 goals...but not for the Leafs because they don't score goals. Encarnacion also extended his hit streak to 24 games while clobbering 9 RBI. The Blue Jays now have 3 players in the top 5 in AL RBI... 1st (Donaldson 104), 3rd (Encarnacion 90), and 5th (Bautista 88). They have also scored 709 runs as a team in 2015. Itunes Podcast Link It was the 3rd inning when Troy Tulowitzki hit one of the weirdest Home runs of the year, swinging at a ball below the knees and out of the zone. What would follow would be one of the strangest moments in MLB history. Josh Donaldson came to the plate and completely crushed a ball to left field. At first glance, it looked like the ball hit the 5th deck and came down. But after a careful investigation by the MLB, it was revealed that the ball had actually kept traveling out of the stadium. 'Last time we had checked the balls distance, about 20 minutes after the ball had been hit, it still hadn't come down and was approximately 40 kilometers away from home plate.' The unnamed MLB official would go on to state, 'at this rate, we may have to wait days, weeks, or even a few months before Josh Donaldson's last home run will come down'. What the MLB official didn't mention is that the ball may never hit the ground again. An Astrophysicist from NASA said that 'the ball may have been hit with enough force to acquire escape velocity and exit the earths gravitational pull'. It is unclear where this ball will land, or if it will ever land. At this rate it might reach the Pacific Ocean within a week or two and potentially enter china within a month. ITUNES PODCAST LINK Another poor performance from the Blue Jays as they manage to score only 12 runs in the 12-4 win over the Texas Rangers. Remember the good old days when the Blue Jays were able to put up a 15 spot on the Angels? well those day are clearly over as the Blue Jays bats have gone silent, averaging only 10 runs per game over their past 5 games. What is the reason for the slump you ask? Some say its the play of Jose Bautista who could not get a hit yesterday, managing to draw only 4 walks in the first 6 innings of last nights game. From a fans perspective, this is a deep slump for the team that spans decades. In fact, they haven't been able to get 24 runs in a game since 1978, and we all remember how amazing that team was. The door was wide open to regain their offensive touch in last nights game, but they let the opportunity get away. They look to bounce back this afternoon in the 3rd game of the series. Unfortunately, it will be against the stingy defense and pitching of the Texas Rangers, which has been lights out over the past 2 games. Itunes Podcast Link The Blue Jays were down 5-1 at the end of the first inning...but the game never seemed out of reach. That's because the team in blue and white has a Legen...wait for it...dary offense. I don't like using that term...but i think i've seen enough of this team's offensive outbursts to say that they are a legendary offense. Lets put things in perspective here. They have had 23 9+ run games this year...23. The next closest team is the Yankees who have 15. Some teams don't even have 5 of those extraordinary nights. The Blue Jays are closing in on 700 runs scored this season and its only August. Its in large part thanks to Josh Donaldson who has knocked in 100 Runs this Season and Jose Bautista who has knocked in 84. Who can forget about Edwin?!?!? you know... that guy who has a quiet 19 game hitting streak with 24 Hr and 74 RBI on the season...who has also missed 11 games this year. It is true that the Angels had major defensive lapses in this series, more than i've seen any team make all year, but that doesn't mean that the offense is bad. I don't believe that the blue jays are solely responsible for the 36 runs they scored in the past 3 games because the Angels were seemingly giving runs away by the dozen. Still, even if the Angels played average defense, they would have most likely been swept due to relatively poor pitching and silent hitting. As of right now, Toronto is 0.5 games up on the Yankees for the AL East division lead with a record of 68-55. A record that is now 5th best in the Majors, now ahead of the Yankees, Astros, Mets, Dodgers, and Giants. Who would have thought we'd be saying that 4 weeks ago? The Blue Jays have been extremely hot since they made their blockbuster trades, going 19-4. one last thing by the way which doesn't mean anything to me, but is still fun to look at....according to Vegas... -Blue Jays are a 5/2 shot to win the American League Pennant and a 5/1 shot to win the World Series.

Itunes Podcast Link - its unfortunate that Toronto Blue Jays fans had to watch a stinker tonight. On the bright side though, Buehrle was pitching, so it was over in under 2.5 hours. And hey, Edwin had a homer, Tulo had a lead-off hit and Martin had a line drive! Apart from those things, this game was a little tough to watch as the Jays were out of it early being down 7-2 in the 5th inning. luckily this loss was to an NL team and not to the Yankees, Orioles, Angels, or even the Rays. See you all again on Friday as the Jays looked to bounce back from their 2-3 record over their last 5 games.

Seriously...he already has a career high in Home-runs (33) and is leading the league in RBI (91) although Chris Davis has just been ridiculous the past 5 weeks and may overtake him in RBI by the time this article is published. Josh Donaldson's offensive outburst tonight couldn't have come at a better time because R.A Dickey forgot that he was the hottest pitcher in the league going into this game. To put in perspective how dominant Dickey has been over the past 8 or so starts going into this game... It would have taken him roughly 31 innings for him to give up 5 runs over his previous 8 starts. He allowed 5 runs in 4 innings tonight. but thats okay because the offense was rolling and the bullpen completely shut the door again with the non-legal drinker (he's 20 years old), Roberto Osuna (ERA of 1.98), closing out the game AGAIN! do i smell rookie-pitcher of the year???ITUNES PODCAST LINK

(podcast link at the bottom) It was the top of the 8th inning. The blue jays had a 3-1 lead with runners on second and third, and Yankees pinch-hitter, Carlos Beltran at the plate. The euphoric Rogers Centre crowd cheered in belief that nothing bad ...

  Seriously...what else can you say about this team. they've won 10 straight games for the second time this season...a feat that has not been accomplished since the 1975 kansas city royals, a team that ended up winning 91 games. Two weeks ago, the blue jays were about 8 games back of the new york yankees for the division lead, and 3 games back of the 2nd wild card (Minnesota Twins). But then...they shocked the world by acquiring Troy Tulowitzki, Latroy Hawkins, David Price, Ben Revere, Mark Lowe, and Cliff Pennington. All of a sudden the Blue Jays morphed into a juggernaut of a team that has been oozing confidence from the players, coaches, media, and more importantly, the fans. The jays would go on to rattle off 13 of 14 games including a sweep of 2 teams that they were chasing in the Twins and Yankees. Looking at the standings now on August 12th is a gift for blue jays fans who haven't seen their team be leading the A.L East division at this point in the season since...1993...and the Blue Jays were alright that year :p Although the success of the Blue Jays for most of the season was attributed to their legendary offense (i mean come on...Tulowitzki is hitting lead off). This recent winning streak has to be credited to their unbelievable starting pitching and bullpen, being statistically the best pitching in the league since the All-Star break. That's not saying that their offense is slumping, just look at the 10 runs they put up by the bottom of the second inning in front of 45 000 people at the rogers centre. So where is the weakness on this team right now? Up until yesterday, it was Drew Hutchinson who hasn't made it past the 6th inning in months. Fortunately that streak was broken thanks to a quality start. So lets see...the blue jays offense is godly thanks to Donaldson and Bautista amongst others, the starting pitching is rolling, the bullpen seemingly hasn't allowed a run in weeks, and their defence has dramatically improved after acquiring Revere and Tulowitzki. What is there to complain about? Aaron Loup? you know, that guys who pitched for the first time today in a few weeks...well...he just shut the door in the 9th inning today, only allowing a single base hit. The blue jays fan base is in a bit of a euphoria right now, thinking that the Jays 'may never lose another game'. Anyone with common sense would disagree with that statement...
